free trial died after 1 day

I got it downloaded and played for 2 hours last night. It's interesting enough that I want to play more to decide on a sub but today the SOE Launcher says my sub is closed and is requiring CC info which I'm not doing at this time. I posted in the Vanguard Official forums with no response yet (Sunday tho). I have no idea what's going on but it's happening to other trial players as well from the posts I've seen. FYI for potential people thinking about trying the free trial.

Im a bit unsure what you want with this post. But my only tips is that you mail the support. They are most friendly.

Did you  created a completely new account or used one which was created for another SoE game?

    Edit:

I t hink I saw your post. Youre subscribed to EQ2 since 2004, so youre using a station account. VG and EQ2 had a free month and the free time probably ended with february. IMO the game thinks you were using this account and the free month.

Not sure if its a bug or not, but I would simply create a total new account for the trial and play the 14 days. If you like what you see, you can log into your former account and sub.

If that's the case, then that's ridiculous. Their system can't tell that I've never played that game before and I'm on a trial for it? Having an existing "station" account should have nothing to do with a free trial for a game that was never subbed. Also, why was I allowed to launch it last night / early this morning and play for hours?

If it's because the month / hour cranked over then that's even more ridiculous. They should have stated that in clear type and not advertised a full 14 day trial.

I appreciate you're help in making sense of it, I'm just stunned that a company like Sony with its resources can't design a better system, all though I played SWG so I don't know why I'm surprised

its obviously bugged somehow, lots and I mean LOTS of people are playing thier trials with no issues in regards to getting the time promised (14 days) If you mailed support and waited 30 minutes than came on here to start flameing, you might just want to give it a lil more time.

well maybe if you read the rules you would not have to post silly questions

here read this part of the trial page

    * Once the trial account has been activated, you will then be able to play Vanguard for 14 consecutive days. The trial account can only be used to activate a new Vanguard account and cannot be used in conjunction with an existing Vanguard or Station Access account or for an account that was banned or was not in good standing when its Vanguard or Station Access subscription previously expired or was terminated.

so like someone said make a new accout and try it, then if you want to open a station accout just upgrade it..

there are multiple dfferent databases for differentbilling systems, no game wiould be able to tell the difference. Alot of games offer free time other than trials, if you join on the last day, it's noones fault but the players.

I may be mistaken but it seems like you are referring to the free month of play as a free trial. SOE gave folks who play other SOE games a free month(January) of play in Vanguard. This was not a free trial. The free month of play allows you to have full access to the game. Now, the free trial only lasts for 14 days and it only gives you access to a starter trial island.

With that said, I wouldnt put it past SOE to screw up. It is highly possible that when the end of the January free play ended and SOE shut down the accounts that were only opened for the free month and inadvertently closed all of the 14 day trial accounts as well.

I have the complete opposite issue (not that I'm complaining)  I wanted to try the 14 day trial as well, just thought i'd add it to my station account that hasn't been activated since I last played Everquest back in 2006.  So I download the launcher and get it all set up to see that I have an active sub to Vanguard (which i've never paid for) and assumed it was somehow related to the free month in Jan that I had read about.  The only thing is that the program ended the 31st and on my account page it shows my expiration date as Jan 31st, but I can still log in to Vanguard, so I guess I'll milk it for what it's worth!

If you tried the trial with people returning to the game then I'm not surprised.  It was offered between December and closed on 31st January 2009.  So if you entered the free return to the game then you entered right at the end of it all.

I am assuming this is the case.  If this is the first time you've every played it and you are playing the 14 day trial period then it seems strange but I am guessing you are responding the the email with the free return to the game until 31 January 2009.
