Well right as I was about to hit lvl 18 with my warden, I get an error message that saying "you have been booted from the server" great...so I think oh...must be a server error, I go to check my account and it says "deactivated" so I enter my cd key and then it says this account cannot be used with that cd key becouse this trail account is a Mines of Moria trial account not SoA...what a clever way of trying to get you to buy 2 games by not mentioning once that you had to have a MoM key to actually activate your account. So now I have to spend another $30.00+ on the exp. :-/
Well seconds later I go on their website, enter my log in credentials and expect to be able to browse the forums, but wait! Their forums are members only, so the only way I could access them was to activate a retail cd key, as if their forums held some kind of divine power that I would need special privileges to view. Anyways, since I couldn't post there, I figured I might as well do it on the best mmo site around so I came here..
Does anyone know if I can activate my SoA cd key via my MoM trail account and still be able to access the (considerable huge amount) of money that I had made during my trail play? I really dont care for the warden class I just want the money I had made on the trail account.

Should be fine, the character will still be on that account. Seems like there is a lvl 18 limit for the trial or did your 10-day time just run out? I've never played the trial and I didn't know that it allowed the play of the new classes.
Now that I think about it, if you upgrade to Shadows after playing the MoM trial if that is what it was, then I don't think you'll be able to access it until you get a MoM key too. The new classes are dependant on the expansion.
Oh and whats this large amount of money you had saved up you don't wanna lose? Any amount at that lvl is miniscule at best...
Yea the trail ran out becouse today was going to be the 10th and final day that I could play on the trial, its a bummer that trial charcter is dependnat on the MoM expantion. They should at least give you a heads up warning in game or in an email. But I unfourently got neither.
I had made over 15g durning my trail period.
I guess Im just over stressing about the money, but thats 10 days of play...down the drain...
Your money etc will be there its like any other trial nothing gets deleted. So if you decide to join full game all you had will be there toons money etc. making 15G at level 18 is some achievement considering you couldnt use AH or trade as you were playing a trial. I played the trial so I can confirm that all of your stuff will still be there.
Turbine is not doing anything all other major games dont its the standard way they all behave, give people a taste of the game then they either need to buy it or not. Lets be fair if there was not limits do you really think thats fair to fee paying members. i hated the restrictions when I had a trail but as I had played over 20 games knew what to expect.
If you enjoyed the game welcome to Lord of the rings its a top game and gets much better after level 20 and your character begins to mature in their skills.
If you want to play the expansion classes then you need the expansion, its really not that strange. It sucks if you already bought the SoA box but atleast you can use the timecard from it so you wont loose much money anyway if you buy the MoM box aswell.

It would be impossible to make a single gold by lvl 18 unless you are buying gold off a gold farmer which will get your account permabanned pretty fast. Siver does not start f
Anyway you only buy Mines of Moria because that includes Shadows of Angmar.

I don't know about that Jackdog, by level 20 I already had over 7 gold and that was without using the AH or selling anything via jacked up prices to another player. I was on a skin/hide tear because of wanting to max my crafting skills and was spending a heck of alot of time hunting. Of course I was hunting things 3 to 5 levels above me so that could have played a part and I guess already having a background with playing the game, knowing the good spots to hunt etc, I had an advantage there. But making several gold before you are 20th level is possible.

I will buy you killing the 3 lvls above you, but I would have to see you kill anything 5 above to believe it. Even if you could a single add would take you out and the repairs would not be worth the effort. Anyone who really plays the game knows the fastest way to farm money is to kill mobs 2 to 3 levels below you not above. Kill 4 to 5 times quicker and value of the drops are not much less so you make money twice if not three times as fast.
My favorite way to farm money is to take a mid 50's toon and kill mid 30 elites which drop an average of 10 silver each. Or farm hides or other raw materials and put em on the AH. I just can't see a mid teens character selling that many light/medium hides or copper ore and I know damn well they can't make it in coin drops.
I suppose it would be possible if all you did was farm ore and hides all day every day and put em on the AH, but lets face it no one who is anything but a gold farmer will do that. Certainly not a player who is just trying the game out to see what it offers
There is a guy in my kin who had over 10 gold by the time he was in early 30's but his play style was just explore and farm ore and hides for several hours a day. I think it took him 3 or 4 months to reach lvl 50 because he rarely quested and just mainly was a RP explorer in play style.
heh heh there was a thread on here not long ago from a lvl 50 plus complaining he could not figure out how to make gold and now you guys are claiming it is too easy to make. hahhhahha

Turbine isn’t devious... This is going to come out wrong, but uh, what made you think buying the old game, would allow you to play the expansion?
MoM comes with the old game and 30 days free; they are far far from devious.
See if you can take the box back, and just pick up MoM and apply that key to your account.

Its still ALOT of money for such a low level ,dont know what you were selling to get that kind of gold. At level 35 I had exactly the 4.2 gold I needed to buy a horse for my alt.. (without doing any crafting or using the AH thou)

Once he is on your friend list, he will be able to send you tells, but until then he will be blocked. As a free trial user, he will be unable to trade with you or anyone else, use the auction house, or access the mail box.

Let me think about it. Should I believe some random poster on a board who is posting a story which would be pretty hard to believe by anyone who has ever played the game or the official Turbine employee who is charge of the trial subscriptions?

Maybe you've been misinformed, but I dont have to prove anything to you, I'm simply saying that I did indeed make 15 gold, was able to use the AH, trade and was not restricted to anything during my trial.
15g is alot on that game for a trial, but i guess anything is possible. The game is good its the population who ruined it for me. screw u Avengers.

Jackdog your an idiot or a horrible gamer. My brother just did the trial and ended it with 12g not really trying. If at lvl 35 you only had 4 gp then you need to re-evaluate your game mechanics. Gold in LOTRO is easy as hell to come by. My god, every other quest at that level has you killing bears and boards for hides which sell for insance prices.
Then there's a serious problem with the trial then, because you can't trade, AH, even receive items in the mail from other players. I know, I've tried it and not that long ago. That's what CMs @ Turbine have been saying since they put those restrictions in.
If you try to play an expansion class, don't you think you should have to buy the expansion?
Also, the $40 COMPLETE EDITION, contains both the original game and the expansion. You should get informed before you purchase a product. I don't think $40 for 1 game + 1 XPack is a huge amount.

Well the thing that happen was I found a SoA cd key on ebay for $5.00, which I thought was going to enable me to contenu playing, I was not even aware the warden class was part of the expantion until near the end of my trail. So I dident lose much.
Just a quick question.
Why would you download a trial (that is clearly a MoM trial), when you already had a SoA box?
And to answer your question about using SoA key for MoM, no.
Again, the trial is clearly a MoM trial.

Not to change the subject or anything, but this reminds me of a conversation I had on the SWG forums early in SWG's life. They had just made a huge change to pistoleers to stop them from being able to spam pistol whip and keep the person pinned the entire fight. Well, it turned out that if you got the right buffs, you could still do it without any problems. Shortly after they implemented the fix to pistoleers, I happen to be coming around a corner heading to see the dancers when I ran into a guy who immediatly pistol whipped me and had me pinned on the ground. I had 3 cats out and 2 storm troopers. He proceeded to keep me whipped so I could never get up off the ground and the entire time, he sat there and took out both my troopers, my 3 cats and another person that happened upon the battle, Then he proceeded to kill me. All of this was after they supposedly fixed the pistol whip problem. When I took it to SWG's message board, I was immediatly hit by several people telling me that I was lying and that it wasn't possible. Yet, I had 2 dead storm troopers which couldn't be revived and 3 dead pets in my datacron (or whatever the heck they called it back then) and a witness as he was also killed by the guy. Nothing I said could be "believed" because it just wasn't possible, yet it happened.
As for devs, they aren't always right. Remember EQ1 when they kept saying the shaman stuff was working fine for months and after TONS of people brought proof (even during this time they said their proof was faulty), they finally took another look at it and found it in fact was broken. Or when the mages was complaining that pets didn't duel wield and they for what, almost 2 years they said they did. Finally when shown they didnt, they even admitted it, and stated the pets already did enough damage and fixing it would make them insanely powerful so they left it alone.
So yeah, the guy might be lying but he might also be telling the truth. Stranger things have happened.

Bah! Stupid EBay sellers. Reminds me those damned retail stores selling Tabula Rasa a month before they're shutting down the servers...useless trash for the uninformed to buy.
Do yourself a favor...buy the xpack, if you liked it enough. The warden IS a fun class. You can get a digital upgrade for less than $40 and it would come out cheaper than buying the complete edition off the shelf. I just don't know if you could convert the whole thing without getting customer service involved. I'm sure they'll help you out though, they are a helpful lot.

LOL, you do have me there. Ya know, I always think, maybe this time, they have learned their lesson and actually know how to run an MMO. And every single flippen time, I fall for it. And worse than that, I end up having a nastalgia moment at some point and once in a while even reactivate one of those accounts for a month. I don't know why I do it, Its like throwing money at the devil and saying, Here, I didnt really need that money for anything, why dont you just take it and buy yourself something nice! Then he turns around and puts it in some guys G string. Then you think, OMG, WTF did I just do!
First when you try to save some buck from buying a cd-key from ebay, dont blame the dev but yourself. Secondly when you do a trial, you should read all the info related to it. Again dont blame turbine but yourself.
And for your 15g if you have done it once you can do it again. But if you really dont want to lose it, just buy the expansion.
