Guild wars not skill based? YOU FOOL! Have you ever played a mesmer? Have you Tanked without an agro bar?! Have you ever played a game where you can't wtf pwn everyone because their levels lower than you? Have you ever had to memorize over 500 skills and realize which ones work best together and identify combo chains for at least 2 or 3 other classes which your current build is responsible for? The smarter people you fight on GW the harder it is, period. True, it doesn't relly on player skill as much as an fps, but then again, what does an fps relly on but reaction timing? Eh? A bit of premeditaion as to where your foe will appear, then it's all mindgames. These are definately present in GWars. Games like WoW where aggro is spelled out for you, where you get every PvE encounter spelled out for you with little variables those games are the ones less "skill based".
lol That top part you just basically named what an MMO is finding out what skills work best, which ones dont, thats any MMO. No aggro? Thats just stupid how do you fuckin tank with no aggro thats the point of aggro so that the things doing more damage than you dont take the monsters off you because your class was made to take damage and not so much to deal it.
OH and too the OP If it doesnt have to be Sci-Fi but you want reaaaal twitch based gameplay try out AoC its a really good game. Wasnt so solid at launch but theyve got it back to good id be playing it right now but as they just added a patch I literally do not have enough space left on my computer so i had to delete it. So yeah if you decide to try it free up some space (its fucking 31 GBs of space)
Guild Wars is a piece of shit, but so is HG:L lol i cant believe i wasted my money buying that. But anyways have you tried out CoH/CoV both veeery fun games of course it takes awhile to lvl in that but its fun being a hero... or a villain!
I totaly agree with this. CoX has great combat. Its not quite as free and twitch based as some games, but its fast, mobile, and very tactical. I put its combat system on par with TR, HGL, and DDO. Best served in a group though as solo play is somewhat lacking.
Also, I don't see the issue with die rolls. Its just a way to add noise to average damage. When it comes down to it is there any difference between hits for "3, miss,4, 3, miss" and "2,2,2,2,2"? Both add up to 10 damage in the end. I am finally getting past the newbie content in DDO (running level 7 quests now). It is by far more skill based then TR, HGL, or any MMOG I have played. I do miss some of those frenetic base defenses in TR though.
