Wow,  I've seen a lot of idiotic stuff on these boards the past few days.  All the BS about Tasos and commitments etc etc asise and talking just purely about the game..

 

Well, to me the game looks great.   Being an Ex-Ultima Online player, graphics are nothing to be but fluff and to be honest I don't think the game looks all the bad.  I think that it looks a ton better than WoW and certainly below games like Lorto, EQ2, Warhammer Aoc Etc but they look to be getting the job done.  It seems that PvP will indeeed be a mix of player skill and advancement.  It will need tweaking but from what I've seen the core gameplay mecanics have a ton of poential to offer skilled based PvP.  The ruleset is what Ultima Online fans from the past have beeen begging for.

 

So, for me right now I am extremely excited about this game.  Yes, it will need some tweaking and polish even post release but I am sure it will be my new home.  It's seems like a very stable client the core gameplay looks good.

I am still cautious about getting to excited about it releasing in Feb but I am ccertain that it will eventually release.  I don't think that Darkfall will appeal to the masses like WoW and it's clones will and I don't think Adverturine ever thought it would but it will finds it's Niche.

After watching that beta leak video, I agree with you. While the graphics don't look very good, I thought the combat looked very fun. Graphics aren't really that big of a deal, but I wouldn't even put DF's graphics as much worse than WAR's(which are pretty bad), but the gameplay in DF looks a lot more fun than WARs ever could be.

Agreed 100%. If the gameplay and the graphics appeal to you, don't let others stop you.

Edit: Darkfall has the potential to be a decent game if the development team does the right thing. However, those who treat this game as the second coming of Christ are sadly mistaken.

Prior to Jan 22 they did a 18 GB client size down to around 8GB..i am just guessing here and i am not sure  about ..but what  was  the 9 -10 GB stuff that has been cut out ?  I am guessing its the fluff stuff that got replaced by placeholders to please the new people invited since Jan 22 with download the client ..

I guess further that with release and with the torrent distribution of the client  the addit0inally 9 -10 GB fluff stuff get inserted back into the client and the game ..

Or it could just be they decided to do what others have done and give you a smaller download for the client with more patches to download on the backend. It makes more sense, its what Funcom did with the AoC beta - removed all the assets for things such as Siege weapons etc to slim the client down knowing they werent going to bother testing it anyway...

And if Darkfall lets you down, there's Mortal Online and Earthrise (the latter of which is starting to look pretty good, to me at least).
