Its the first sanbox FFAPvP MMO relesed in four years. Of course people are exited. And thats aslo the reasen why its so hated. The sandbox haters donli like it abit. They had nothing but linear PvE grindgames for as long, and nothing have ever frighten them before. So the DF forum have both sides posting. Usually only one side posts.
Sandbox is something I love, but it does not make a good game by itself. From what the leaks show, DF is currently lacking on every aspect.

The graphic are Bad and the toons look worse, no wonder they don't want you to see you character up close, in a special email only to you it says all other toons are ugly, we made yours cool, but don't tell your my special buddy
2 of the 5 threads on the main page are about darkfall. Both of the threads are negetive by nature.
In the general DF forums I'd say about 90% of the threads posted are negetive by nature.
@ the guy I've noticed posted rather frequently of late in the DF forums. This isn't WoW, it's not intended to be WoW. It was never intended to be WoW. There are many games that are just like WoW, even the original WoW, EQ, is still running. Everytime you post your post can be summed up as, "it's not WoW, it sucks." Why not just post that?
I'm just saying, I'm not getting the, " it's the haters and FANBOYS alike." Most of what happens in these forums is:
Someone who doesn't like DF, or Tasos makes a thread stating such, a lot of like minded individuals respond; with a few fan posts thrown in. The magority of the drama here is instigated by people who just don't like the kind of game DF is supposed to be.
Honestly, these forums wouldn't be that active, and there would be a lot less hype if people just stopped posting negative threads about the game.
Well I havent followed this game at all, was just asking the main question of this post over what the hype is all about. I did after I posted this last night go to you tube and watched some gameplay video and have to say the game looks like CRAP. I've seen better graphics back in 2002!!!! Dont get me wrong, graphics arent everything, but they are probably a good 20% factor in the overall "good" quality of the game. When a game is such an eyesore as this one is, I dont see much more than fanbois playing it.

IP you enjoy is fun and adds to the enjoyment if you are a fan...i defintiely agree there...but to say why are people following this game over another game that we know little about but has a popular IP is just ridiculous.

Someone please tell me. I usually log onto mmorpg.com most every day and 3 out of the 5 most recent posts are always about this game!!! I've never even HEARD of Darkfall until the last month or two and now it seems like it's all I ever see on this website. I would think ya'll would be more excited over some real IP's like Star Trek Online or The Old Republic.
See OP, here is the deal. Everyone knows to PvP in Darkfall, you have to do it in the forums. Everyone knows, most of us will never see the game before it is released. Combine that with it's pre-order program and soon to be announced "staged release", most of us will never have the chance to do pvp except here on the forums. The other games like STO and TOR, we'll all be able to that pvp in game without a problem.

so no real freedom of choice there, and from the fanbois i here armor and weapon crafting is worthless cause noone will want armore or stuff that they will just lose.. add to that any housing crafting will be guild only cause there won't be personal housing,, and why would there be when you log off someone can desrtoy it.. this game is starting to not seem like the vids say, freedom to do what you want sounding more like a pvp gank kill this die and repeat..
That is the stupidest post I have ever read. Not because of anything you said Sanedor, but just by the fact you have been told wrong things by the anti-darkfall people on this forum.
Everyone will love armor and weapon crafters because if you go against someone who has armor and a good weapon and you are naked with a default weapon, you are at a severe dissadvantage, the housing can be built by one person, will take time if only one person is gathering the materials, but it's possible.
The game will be a pvp gank fest for the first 2 weeks or so, maybe a LITTLE longer, but eventually people will start playing it for what it is and won't just killing anyone that breathes.

if you think a good ip makes a good game you my friend are laughably wrong. think about this: video games which follow releases of films. even when the film is amazing the video games that try to sell on its popularity are always terrible.
I agree df should probably stop pretending its got some awesome original deep lore though, but unfortunatly I fear the devs probably actually think it does.
and btw I love kotor and i love bioware, but tor is never going to live up to the hype. plus its amusing you seem to care so much about graphics, i mean look at tors.

DF get the hype because they have a few thousand players testing the game atm. Yes, I know some don`t belive this but I know this part is true.
People are still trying to convince others that there arent a lot of people, outside testers, in beta right now?
I havent checked these forums much lately but thats just funny.
