Question about the gameplay/lag

BintoweBintowe Member UncommonPosts: 47

Taking into account the style of gameplay, is lag gonna be a big problem?  I've got a decent connection, but playing from the US on European servers is pushing it.  My pc is also getting a little old, so I am worried about frame rate...

Is the winner going to be determined by who has better ping or framerate?  Because then I lose

Even though the servers are in Europe, the lag isn't noticeable. It's like playing Counter Strike at 120 ping, so it's not bad.

So far it's been pretty good, suprisingly. If for some reason your connection is terrible, you can always wait till the NA comes out.

In other words if your ping suks, It's gonna be hard on ya and no amount of player skill can change that.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

    I hate people like you.

If you have a decent ISP, you will be fine on the Europe servers, I have a 10mb connection and I play on them fine from Minnesota.

But yes, if your INTERNET SUCKS, your going to have a tough time. But it's like that in any online game.

Not exactly, in a game like DF probably lag, or the absence of it, will have a bigger impact on the combat outcome.

Exactly, and lets not forgot that there are some people that are not able to get anything faster than DSL at 1mb.  Hell, in some places the "internet" is what you do with your fish when you get it out of the water.

This is very true. Not like WoW where you can click a skill, lag, and still have that skill execute.

And, 120 Ping is usually considered "unbearable" in any First Person/FPS game.

I know in league play, it is certainly grounds for canceling a match.

And the above poster is correct... at my old house the only speed I could get from Qwest was 1MB DSL. They did not offer any higher at that location. Since I moved recently though, I now have 3MB :).

    Lol, that made me chuckle

But yeah there are still areas that are even lucky to get dial-up. Some areas have to rely on Aircards which can be horrible for even viewing just web sites.

120 Ping will throw off your game a little. But it under no means will make it unbearable. I play Cal-IM cs source atm, and I am ex cal-p on cs 1.6

Yes, 300 ping in DF will have more of an impact than on WoW, but it's still annoying and works against you in both games.

    Steam ID?

Also, I highly doubt you play with 120 Ping in that serious of brackets. Most players will not even start the match.

Also, that Steam ID is returning no results for any CAL history in any game/bracket.

0:0:2779197 played cal-m with around 100 ping and my intetnet would spike randomly. While it would be nice to have had better ping and no spikes, skill can make up for these problems
