Which do you guys think will take the trophy? These 2 games are the most anticipated games right now and they are both coming out in the next few months. It seems that the whole point of being a MMO gamer is to have high hopes, get excited for a month, then complain for 7 more months till another game is released and the process happens again. I think Darkfall is going to be another AoC and Aion is going to be another L2.
Comments
And i don't give two hoots about either one so No loss in my direction LMAO..... J/k Sorry GF was in a bad mood so i though i would PK someone..........J/K
even if aion turns out to be pretty decent neither of these games are gonna do anything trophy worthy.
Why do you even bother to post about games you clearly know nothing about? The ONLY way you can possibly come to the conclussion Aion will be another Lineage 2 is by not doing any research on the game whatsoever.
I think it's a hard one to call. Aion is competing an arena where there are several other very similar games so it is facing a lot more competition than Darkfall.

Your obviously an Aion fanboy. By relating it to L2 I'm saying it will become another asian grinder. When i related Darkfall to AoC it wasn't because Darkfall is based in the age of conan. I related them since AoC was suppose to be a huge hit and it failed. Learn to read buddy.

I suggest you actually work on your own reading comprehension first as I never even mentioned Darkfall or Age of Conan.
The ONLY way you can come to the conclussion AIon will be another Lineage 2 is if you're talking out of your ass. You clearly have done zero research on the game.
What part of Aion sounds like another Lineage 2?
The fact developers have said multiple times that the target Audience is the casual gamer and the game is build with a global audience in mind? The fact the game is build around quest as opposed to mob grinding? or the fact players who have played the korean version have mentioned leveling is quick and painless, a little slower than WoW but nowhere near Lineage 2?
Or perhaps you figured that NCsoft would just like to compete with its own games by creating another Lineage 2?
But please keep using the "you're a fanboi!!!11oneone" excuse if it helps you sleep at night in an attempt to disguise your own ignorance.
Agreed. DarkFall has many unique features you won't find in most MMORPGs while Aion doesn't have a lot....stigma and character customization are probably the most unique features but that's it.
The thing with DarkFall isn't wether it will be more popular than other games or if Aventurine will turn into the next Blizzard. DarkFall being a pretty unique, there isn't any games that are currently similar to it. Will DarkFall win the "trophy" nah it won't. First few months will be a huge pain in the ass, people will leave and rejoin, cry about the fact that they keep getting PKed so DF will probably receive a lot of bad critics until the servers are stable and by stable I mean a guild that will create order and rules.
As for Aion, nothing very unique but a flying system and stigma system (and yeah I've searched as many infos about Aion as I had a small interest in it ). Only thing I find good in Aion is it's an upgrade of many features used aleady, Fly, Character Customization,etc.... and yeah there's good graphics but great graphics means high PC requirements (here's the requirements as seen on the korean website)
Minimum requirement:
* CPU: Pentium 4 2.8GHz or AMD Athlon 2800+
* RAM: 512MB
* VGA: GeForce 5700 or Radeon 9600, DirectX 9c or higher
* Hard Drive: 20GB available space
* Windows XP or Vista
Recommended:
* CPU: Pentium 4 3.0GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3000+
* RAM: 1GB
* VGA: GeForce 6600 or Radeon x1550, DirectX 9c or higher
* Hard Drive: 20GB available space
* Windows XP or Vista
DarkFall has lesser quality graphic compared to Aion but the requirements are also lower and allows more players to join.
(found this on the forum, it's not the exact thing but it should be around it)
System Requirements: With XP
1.8GHz p4 or equivalent
1GB system RAM
128MB SM1.4 compatible 3D card
??GB harddrive space
Still.... to OP: If you can't take all these things into consideration, don't make this sort of topic, it will just turn into a flame wars filled with fanboys.

Once again learn to read. I never said you said ANYTHING about AoC. I was saying that I'm not concluding that Aion is L2, I said it might become another L2 by being an asian grinder.
What ever the developers have said doesn't mean jack until the game comes out. I'm sure when AoC came out the developers didn't say, "It has no end game." Even though it had no end game. The developers are going to say what you want to here to sell it to you. Sure is casual based, but any game can be casual based, it depends on what you want to do with the game. If your happy with not leveling to the max level, not getting the epic loots, and you just like the feeling of the game, then that game is casual friendly.

Do you even read your own posts before you hit the post message button?
This is what you said while quoting MY post.
"Your obviously an Aion fanboy. By relating it to L2 I'm saying it will become another asian grinder. When i related Darkfall to AoC it wasn't because Darkfall is based in the age of conan. I related them since AoC was suppose to be a huge hit and it failed. Learn to read buddy."
I never even touched upon Darkfall or Age of Conan. Saying Aion will be like Lineage 2 is exactly the same as saying Aion will be another Lineage 2, it's just a different kind of wording.
You do realise that Aion has already been in open beta and released in Korea and that the people who already played the game confirmed that the game is indeed very different from Lineage 2 and very casual friendly, right? Ofcourse you don't, because that would mean you actually do research on a game before you post about it, and we can't have that now can we?
I knew very well right from the beginning that you were implying that Aion would be another Asian grindfest, because we get these ignorant comments by people who know nothing about the game all the time in the Aion section.
Not to get wrapped up in this little debate here, but, Chickeneater, Aion has already released in Korea. It has quite a few vocal NA players playing on the Korean client, all of which attest the game is in fact a more casual less time consuming and intensive game when it comes to leveling and things of the like.
haha easily answered.AION albeit ,i do not like NCSOFT will have an easy time ,over taking DF.DF looks and plays like a game that was made years ago by a very small staff,and it WAS !
I am not exactly sure AION has covered any of the areas better,but i think it will look and play a tad bit better.Both games have dead looking worlds,lifeless maps,they are both pretty much gameworlds where players can plop down and try to kill each other.Aion players will be flying,DF they will be meleeing on the ground.
Neither game has much appeal really,not sure what anyone will be saying to themsleves as a logical reason to login?"I can't wait to PVP"? "I think flying is so cool"? honestly,i see nothing in either game.
DF has a slower combat,more suited to adults who are trying to think,but really the game offers nothing there either so it fails.The combat is more reaction that any proaction,because the mobs seem to spot you long before you even see them.
Aion is more arcade style,unrealistic flying and flipping through the air ,with break kneck speeds of combat,all this while weilding unrealistic sized weapons lol.I see the younger kids getting excited about AION's combat.
You could go into further detail about both games,but in reality,what i touched on is the majority of game play and what most will be doing most of the time.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
"I knew very well right from the beginning that you were implying that Aion would be another Asian grindfest, because we get these ignorant comments by people who know nothing about the game all the time in the Aion section."
Lol, I love how you say "We"
Aion.
NCSoft has actually made and released games in the past.
What do you mean by "take the trophy"? If you mean more commercially successful, then Aion will beat Darkfall even if they never bother to release anything other than the Korean version. They've already got some quite impressive subscription numbers in Korea.
If you mean more polished and more technically perfect, without regard to whether the game is any fun to play, Aion will win that, too.
If you mean which game will have better underlying game mechanics that make the game enjoyable to play, that will never be answered satisfactorily, because different people like different types of games. Even if Darkfall turns out to be complete vaporware, some people would still rather play no game at all than play Aion.
If you are talking about worldwide subscriber numbers as their "trophy" then I think Aion will come out on top. I believe it already has a couple 100k subscribers in Korea and it's likely going to do MUCH better in Asia than Darkfall. As far as NA and European sub numbers it's a bit too tough, but I'd still speculate Aion will come out on top unless Darkfall really delivers on it's promises. I still think Darkfall is a pretty niche game, but I definitely think that as long as it's full of it's promised content it's going to do fairly well (100kish subs). I also think that Darkfall will maintain their subscribers better than Aion due to it being niche. Lots of Aion subs will probably switch games when the next major game is released (a few big Korean releases coming in 2010).
It's all pure speculation on my part. Don't take what I say too seriously. The thread did ask what we THINK will happen.
@OP: What do you mean Darkfall is going to be another AoC and Aion is going to be another L2? Could you elaborate?
I don't thik either game has great game play. Aion will get a decent following because it's pretty. Darkfall will get a decent following if it's not to buggy, from the niche that likes PvP.
That's about it.
I think the company is a huge factor as it seems like Aventurine really has no idea what it is doing........ ALso having the Asian market is a huge bonus.....I just havent liked much from what I have seen from Darkfall and Idont like all the sneakiness and lack of info from Aventurine.......If I had to invest in one of the two games it would definitely be Aion.
Two games that took 2 different paths.
Darkfall with in-house testers and a NDA. Shakey server stability, most of the content turned off, server still not full to cap.
Aion with three closed beta's with no NDA restrictions. Solid server stabilty at OB and live launch(39 servers and counting), All content added up to lvl45 for OB and now lvl50 content. Very few bugs reported during live launch.
And to just make a guess I think aion will have the better pvp of the two.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I'm not an Aion fanboy, in fact, I'm not an anything fanboy. I think Aion will have a much easier time than Darkfall with a release and it looks like it might be decent fun. Much of what I've read from people who have played the Asian version have said it's more like WoW than like L2, but it's not a WoW clone, either. We'll see. Quite frankly, I think Darkfall will be a mess. I'll be amazed and impressed if they launch, let alone do it well. Of course, in this economic climate, I'll be impressed with anything that makes it through!
Aion. Its success in Korea alone is reason enough. However, NCsoft are also experienced, will definitely develop content for it on a regular basis and seem to have done almost everything perfect with regards to the game up until now.
aion because df will never be released... lol. seriously though, aion is already 10x the game darkfall hopes to be. comparing the two is like comparing half life 1 and duke nukem forever... one got goty from every magazine, the other is legendary for being the most antipciated game 10 years running...
KERPLAH!

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Order of the White Border.
It will easilly be Aion...
Its out
Its made by an experienced developer.
Its modeled for a global quest gring audience rahter than the mob gring asian model.
Its almost as easy to level as it is in WoW.
It has some beutiful graphics
Its art style is a little odd but still nice unlike the browns of darkfall.
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

Welcome to MMO land.
Next...
Aion, by a landslide imo.
