Want to drop 1200 tops into it and so far I just have the case and a 600 watt PS in it.
That has to include a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers as well.
Speakers are not to important because I always use my headset so I'm thinking of just dropping that completely.
Want to drop a 750i mobo by EVGA
8800 with 1GB or a 9600 with 512
Q6600 cpu
Not sure what to do about a DVD drive, been hearing it's best just to get a blu-ray one now.
I have a 1TB HD in mind but deciding not to go with that. maybe a 250 or less.
Worried about a 600 watt PS though, thinking I should just get a more powerful one.
Any help is appreciated. TY!

with what you have listed a 600w psu would be fine. The 8800 is better than the 9600, with NVidia it's the second number that matters, 8 compared to 6. A 780i would be a better choice for a gaming rig over a 750i. Nothing wrong with the Q6600 although the Q6700 has a rep now of being a good solid cpu. Not worth buying a blu-ray dvd unless you want to watch lots of blu-ray movies, save money and just get a normal one. Hard drive is your choice really but I would go for larger than 250Gb or splash the cash on a raptor. Hope that helps.
600W is good, then you can uppgrade to a 260 GTX later. If you plan to get a 280 GTX or 295 GTX you should get a larger, or if you plan to have loads of harddrives. I run a 280 GTX with 5 HDs on a 750W. Anyways, get a Corsair, they are best compared to the price.
The 8800 is a lot better choice than the 9600, especially if you are getting a Ultra or clock it up a bit. Have a look on the 260 GTX also. Here is a helpful chart with GFX cards
Get 4 gig of RAM.
You can well wait with the blue ray drive, they are still kinda expensive and I have never seen a blue ray game on a PC yet. Get one next year and use the money to boost the harddrive instead.
A big harddrive is good to have and the difference in price is not so big, I have 4TB (or is it more? My biggest is 1.5TB) in my computer myself Seagate is best but Western digital or Maxtor works well too, Maxtor is a bit louder though.
Good luck
Thanks for the help answered a lot of questions I've been asking over the past while.
I'll look into the 6700.
Corsair RAM? just checking.
I'll try the 600W first see if it works if not then I guess I can upgrade it a little bit.
I'm really worried about the monitor and keyboard. I don't know anything about monitors and really need some advice on that. I want to look at getting a 20" or roughly around that area for the time being and upgrading a little later.
As for the keyboard I've been looking around and just not sure what to get keep seeing a lot of bad on everything now.
I do have 1 HD picked out its a 1TB so I might still go with it. Think it was WD would have to check again.
Thanks again!
Not much to choose between the various manufacturers when it comes to monitors, they are all likely made in Taiwan anyway unless of course you have a few thousand to splash on one. If not and you have a budget similar to the rest of us then take your pick http://www.scan.co.uk/Index.aspx?NT=1-0-30-486-0
Keyboard and mouse. Depends on if you want a run of the mill model or a dedicated gaming setup. If the latter then look at the Razer stuff but it is obviously more expensive.
I currently use the razer copperhead and fell in love with their products. I'm going to get another mouse by them at the least. I've heard bad things about their keyboards.
I mean what settings to look at for monitors. I really know nothing about them.
Razers death adder is a nice mouse. If you don't like razer keyboards check out the logitech gaming range.
general monitor info. example:
20.1" (screen size) Asus VW202SR (make & model ) Black ( colour obviously ) Widescreen ( widescreen or standard same as TV's ) 5 ms ( response time, lower the better ) 1680x1050 ( optimal resolution ) 3000:1 ( contrast ratio, higher the better ) Speakers ( built in speakers or not )
There is also pitch which isn't shown in the example above but that is the distance between pixels or dots of the same colour. The monitor above has a pitch of 0.258 which is pretty decent. Apart from that mate I don't know what I can tell you.

That actually helped a lot and was everything I wanted to know. I knew what the specs were for them from just looking but didn't know what they meant. Thanks for the definitions, it's exactly what I needed.
But if anyone has a razer keyboard I would love to know how it's working for you. The Pro's and Con's of it.
Thanks for the help!
