Might just be me, but. . .
Darkfall seems to only attract people who like sandbox/PvP games. And people who dislike this game seem to be the ones who hate PvP and only want to do quests/PvE and get into the lore and what not.
I honestly cant wait to play this game because this will be a game that is different from the rest of the MMO's out there. It doesnt force me to do quests to level up. Im one of those few people who rather the tedious grind, i'd rather grind a camp of monsters all day to skill up and gain loot/experience. Because doing quests, to me, is just boring; talk to the NPC then run 5-10 minutes away to kill 10 monsters to get a certain item they drop and then return to turn in my quest see that my experience bar went from 0% to 15% and only having to received 8% of that experience from just killing the monsters. To me quests are just pointless, why not give me a better reward for wasting 10-15 minutes of my time, when I could have just grinded those monsters I had to kill for a higher yield of experience in that same amount of time.
Sure this game wont be for all, but to some this will be a game that will actually be fun to play. I dont know about you guys, but I dont like to always feel safe in a game. Make me be more cautious on what I do and where I go. Make me be somewhat afraid to go out to a certain camp spot and always being watchful of my surroundings and having to watch my back. This will be a game that I will actually want to play for hours at a time. The last good MMO that I played was DAoC. I dont know what it was about DAoC but I just enjoyed playing something different and the way it was designed had me hooked, but over the years the game that I had loved started to die and so I tried to play other games but they were all starting to be made simple/easier (thanks WoW) to play. This will be the game I have been looking for, atleast I hope it will be.

If you give it a chance, you?ll discover that Darkfall is an extremely well rounded game. For example, there?s as much effort going into the quest engine and the crafting process, as there is going into the combat design. Darkfall features the ultimate player based economy, more useful trade skills than any other released MMORPG to date, advanced NPC and monster AI, and a quest engine constantly creating new and challenging content. Furthermore, the game world is huge; you could move to a remote area with your friends and try to create a safe haven for other like-minded players.
Aye, I myself would rather grind skills I use than levels that give me some new skills that I may never really use
As for quests, I like quests for the backstory. Quests should be a side option for game play, not the source. I mean there are times I would like to try quests to get some of the world lore and there are times where I like to sit camping mobs and BS'ing with my guild or group.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
I think that you're a little confused. There seems to be a misconseption that people bashing Darkfall are those who dislike open PvP games. That is simply not true.
Although there may be a portion of gamers who hate the game because of the reasons you mentioned, most of us "trolls", as the fanboys call us, actually enjoy this sort of game play. Hell, I'm probably one of the biggest pre-Trammel UO fanboys out there.
The reason I am bashing this game is because I see a game with great potential which will not be realized due to amateur developers, improper management and downright deceitful PR. I mean, we're about two weeks from release date and there has been no information about pricing, pre-order availability or even minimum system requirements.
In other words, although it may seem like I'm bashing the game, I am actually disgusted with the way Aventurine is handling the whole project. I'm treating this game as a joke because Aventurine is turning it into a joke.
Obviously, I can only talk for myself but reading posts by other folks on these boards, I'm pretty sure that others share my view.

You want information so i will provide you with it. Try use google, the internet is full of leaks. There is also some blogs with no NDA full of leakers sharing out their experience. I must say im looking very forward to the game now after reading the leaks.
I agree its a game with good potential, but its not looking good with gameplay still not working correctly and the servers haven't been stress tested yet. Beta players are screaming for a delay, and my guess would be an 09 mid summer release date at the earliest. I just hope people will still have the patience to wait till then.
Noobist... you are 19 years old, you had not even begun school when the first MMOs were released and you had not reached puberty, let alone owned a credit card, when the sandbox games were released and had their golden age. The first MMO you talk abot in your MMORPG.com post history is WAR... and you bash WoW players from step one, post one.. I HOPE this is your troll alt and that you have a little more credit under your feet, when you troll this forum about what an "expert"MMO player you are compared to others...
I just want Darkfall to be released damn soon so this joke that this forum has turned into is finished and done with. I am so flipping tired of hearing 5.000 complete uneducated uninformed fanatics come in here daily and talk a game to high heaven they know absolutly nothing about, at the same time bashing all other people on the forum that have the nerve to actually have seen small amateur mmo builds before and the problems they come with.
Just release the crapfest... Please!!! I want this place to be about the evolution of MMOs... not a godamn Chruch of glorified trash.

8 years, the game is still in need of testing, and you white knights are still defending this crap? Good god.
How exactly is that a bad thing? A lot of features are planned for DF, if they put in one, it needs testing, put in another it needs testing, the two together can cause problems, and yes..need testing.
STALKER shadows of chernobyl took 7 years to develop, and you know what? after playing it on release it could have used more testing as well as bug fixing.
Team Fortress 2 was in development since 1998, good thing they took their time, the game came out perfectly.
Prey took over 10 years to develope... it was a fun FPS.
You dub DF crap, and its still in beta testing. Why dont you hold off your judgement until its released, that is the logical thing to do after all.

And you too Aktairzq, 9 of 15 you post are trolling on a different forum. Some one at your age should have better things to do. All I see is the EQ sign you wear as an honorbadge. I left UO for a while back in the days EQ was first lauched to try it out. A 3D mmorpg game...amazing. I didn`t last long because I thought it was boring compared to UO.
So why don`t you two go back to your PvE forums and take the rest of your fanclub with you. I hear there is a few new mmo on the marked soon. You can discuss the graphics, quest, leveling, high-end raiding and monsterbashing all you want. We would like to be able to discuss Darkfall here.
And if some have time to count the numbers of trolls vs fans on this forum. I can`t belive those 5000 numbers, and I also think we are outnumbered by trolls.

I'm well aware of the leaker sites and blogs. However, if you read my post carefully, I'm not talking about game play related information. My whole point is that we're really close to release and there is still no official information about things that should have been known for quite some time.

well why dont we all hold off on judgement until its released...until 2012... did any of these other games come out and say there game was done years before the actually released it?.. just curious... people judge you by your actions, as soon as they happen. not years after...like you will call me a troll now... not years from now.....we dislike the game now, so we troll.. it might turn out to be a decent game, if this is the case we wont troll it.... but as of now, looks like crap.....
and to answer your question (hows that a bad thing) cause how many times can it be rdy for launch before you realise the shadyness of it all. It needs more time, lol i think AV is just testing you fanbois.. if it takes too long to launch, mortal online is gonna be out. Gl to av but pls keep foot out of mouth...
