Personally I think the models aren't bad. Not thrilling me out of my pants, but a good start. Really not bad imo. The big question remains what I need it for when its all a soloing game about spacefight?
Well they arn't going to be Crysis level of detail but what I like about them is they are nice looking and like the guy above me said is tidy. They look polished and they look realistic and just well detailed. They remind me of the evolution of SWG's models that were so full of life but just lacked the poly count to look as good as this games. I just hope that when the game is released that they animated properly and have idle animations and blink etc etc. Which I'm sure they will because they are obviously still working on the character creation and stuff, animations don't usually come till later, specially if they're motion captured.
However when you compared them to all the other mmorpgs I think they are among the best. I'm not a fan of all the free 2 play asain styled models because they all look emo, they all look like clones with little customization and they all have that gay unrealistic stance of an arched back.
Too often I've picked uo an mmorpg and the main thing for me is character development. So if my character is ugly then I just can't care to develop that character because they don't look how I want them to. Picked up Lotro and their bodies look really weird and they don't animate right and all look the same with little detail. Picked up Vanguard and well the animal races speak for themselves with no tails. They all animate badly and look lifeless and stiff, I also hate their bodys and just how bland they are. EQ2's are probably the most ugly and while the animal races look good, the human like characters are just so ugly. Specially the Human Female who looks like shes fat and on drugs.
However I picked up SWG and they animate so well and felt so full of life that even though the humans are ugly I could look past that because they were so full of life and looked realistic. I never felt like I connected with my character more than with SWG because instead of feeling like stiff dolls, they felt like my Alive Pet.
