Thinking of picking this up, but I don't really wanna bother if all I am gonna end up doing is sitting around waiting for a group all day.  I've heard it's very heavily group based...I am interested, though.

In the beginning, you will probably solo until you're level 10 or so. Afterwards, it really is up to your initiative to find parties. If you like a game that is based heavily on group activities, I don't see you having problems making friends and party members alike.

honestly, If you want a game that has a sense of dependancy of other real players and has a sense of togetherness, than this is it.  If you want to play by yourself and have "uber armor" than keep walking... Most of the people in this game aren't total assholes and will help you out, you should find a linkshell as soon as you can if you really need help

I recently re-opened my account and it seems decently populated. But if you want to be able to log on whenever you please and get groups without doing alot of searching and waiting, then I'd suggest playing a support class. White Mages always get groups.

Otherwise be prepared to do some yelling, so to speak.

I've been on the Seraph server for a few years now and, thought it's had its ups and downs, today it seems to be nicely populated.

If you are worried about not finding anyone to party with, a new feature called "Level Sync" allows players with a higher level to "sync" with lower level players without any negative exp loss.  This feature, along with other new add-ons have caused many players to return, increasing the population a bit.

As mentioned earlier, if you're just picking up the game, your first 10 levels will be spent soloing outside your home nation, exploring and learning the game interface.  So there's a good chance you won't see quite as many people during this time, but you'll meet plenty of people once you hit level 10.

At level 10 or 11 you'll then move to working in parties to gain your experience and that's when the game really picks up.  You'll find more of the population during these levels and come to understand that everyone has to rely on each other to advance.

If you have any questions just ask, the community is usually more than happy to help.

    Have fun!
