Playing City of Heroes since release, this doesn't look much different at all. In fact, it is a BIT better, because it was months before a PVP system was even implemented into City of Heroes. I wish there could've been a villain faction from the jump with this game, as well as meaningful pvp as stated above. If they could exploit these characteristics correctly with a fully-customizable hero IP, this game could strike gold.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently Waiting For: Nothing, found my addiction for awhile
Currently Playing: Warhammer Online - Oblivion, Warrior Priest, Averheim; Team Fortress 2
General impression I get is----------PvP is definitely an afterthought!
The rest of the game might be great but what is the point of any PvP if it is not factional and does not involve control of regions/areas and or resources.
Ofcourse I could be completely misunderstanding what he said about arenas, who knows?
Games sounds very interesting, the customization they keep talking about is almost enough to make this a definite try, and to be honest, I am so tired of WoW anything that is new and different, oh yeah, and stable, will probably get a try.

I too have high hopes for Champions Online.
