I was skimming though the massive info thread at the top, and found this article. One cool thing is that the game will be completely different depending on which class you play...
"... from the start to the finish, you will not see one repeated bit of content. Not one quest, not one line, nothing, says Erickson. Nothing at all? OK, well, you might see different sides of the same conflict, but this is Star Wars Wars, you know?

Excellent info, although they could be just using the names as a "per say" situation and not actually leaking anything.
I also don't like it when they develop an MMO for both PC and console. For some reason that just screams minimalism to me.

A bunch of people running around with lightsabers, outnumbering the non-force sensitives by 3:1. That definitely is an accurate portrayal of the Star Wars universe. Congrats, BioWare. I can easily go play Jedi Knight 2, or even one of the KOTOR games to get the same flavor.
that was kind of a given.
This has been beat to death, if you don't like the fact that the game is being based highly on force sensitive then feel free to find something else to do with your time.

Prejudice is so unattractive.
This completely contradicts what they said before about your class not being associated with your faction. How is a Sith not a member of the Sith Empire? I assumed they would have one Jedi class, where you abilities were chosen through a talent system, and you could be either side you want.
I thought it would be bad enough that one of the only 8 classes they were having would be Jedi, but now there making 2 classes Jedi? Come on. Maybe they will just make all 8 classes Jedi and be done with it.

I am afraid people are going to be more let down by TOR then they were by SWG.

I appreciate your ill-tempered gesture at trying to control what I do, or how I express myself. It's extremely healthy to talk about and express this topic, and I know that there are many people out there who feel the same way I do. I simply would enjoy a realistic look at the Star Wars genre, not as some space saga with hundreds of thousands of "jedeyes" running around like ill-conceieved notions of empowerment. Of course, this is the best way to pull in the massive crowds from their KOTOR license, like yourself, but it does Star Wars absolutely no justice.

Great post. I 100% agree. I just love how these people think because they praise anything the devs say, they have every right to post here, but if someone doesn't like what the devs are doing, they have no right to post. Simply amazing.

I couldn't care less about a developer’s choice in the game THEY are making. You can complain all you want about the decisions that Bioware is making for the game but it isn't going to do one ounce of good and only irritates those that are following the game. You and your buddy here are but a drop of water in the ocean, don’t believe that your opinions matter other than to make yourself feel like you can make a difference.

I want to agree and disagree with you here. Because yes, most of the time it screams minimalism, but then again it doesn't have to since most of the consoles these days can use a mouse/keyboard to some extent.
A perfect example is FF11, amazing game wether you play on the PC or Console.
You know...negative comments wouldn't be so bad if the people making them didn't post them in every single thread as much as possible.
I think we got it the first time that you don't like the game's concepts. Hearing it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...just pisses people off more than necessary. make your thread about why you don't like the game or what the game is going to be about...offer what you envision...then move on. If you find more gripes...post it in your thread. That way the people who are interested in the game and think they might enjoy it don't have to listen to a bunch of SWG fanbois go on about how they miss the old days and wish that every game that comes out would cater to their needs.
Don't you guys even have your own SWG Vet forum to QQ in?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
Unfortunately it seems that no one listens to the "Vets" on their forum anymore so now they come to where they can get the attention again.

so did i...
March on! - Lets Invade Pekopon
I did too... but maybe it's more in the line you pick Jedi or Sith you kinda get Light or Dark faction... kinda... and if you pick medic or scoundrel or w/e (pure speculation here) your faction is MORE decided on your actions... alot of games have specific aligment for certain classes maybe this will be the same. And maybe at certain points in this story if you're going against your faction you make a class change quest to sith OR jedi like a betrayal quest in EQ2.... who knows.
Thing about Jedi and Sith in this game is, there will be a Lightside/Darkisde point system completely separate from your factional choice. It will actually be possible to be in the Empire, and be lightside, or be in the Republic and be darkside, or even be Gray and utilize both Lightside and Darkside force traits. The same will go for the other classes. You can be a good guy in the Empire, or Bad guy doing bad things in the Republic.
The choice will be yours. As you visit planets and interact with NPC, like in SWG they will recognize your factional characteristics and will try to influence you based on you factional standing. Only it will be deeper than SWG because it will open up other great traitorous opportunities within your personal story arc, which once you make the choice, you can’t go back in a mater hours or pause and start the game over. It could literally take you months to undo the damage you were suckered into causing within your own faction, if you suddenly have a change of heart. This may even effect where in the Galaxy you can venture safely. You may even find a Bounty on you.

Exactly. So once again I'll ask, why is it ok for you to post positive comments over and over but people with negative comments don't have that same right? Double standard based on the person's side of the fence isn't right no matter what you think.

That isn't true in the least bit. People complained about the giant light sabers and Bioware toned them down. The truth of the matter is you are just scared that they may change the game away from the linear, solo Jedi fest you want so you are trying to silence anyone that doesn't want the game that way. Because if it were true that what we say won't make an ounce of a difference, then you wouldn't care what we post, and wouldn't respond to it.

You do have a right, just don't be so asinine about it. Those that are slobbering all over the devs are equally as bad as those that act like the devs murdered their family.

I can tell you right now your logic is skewed. This game is pretty much built and running. Things like adding more clothes, changing the size of a lightsaber, the color of a flower, how big the trees are next to the entrance of the Jedi temple on Tython can be changed. Major gameplay systems however, cannot.
The game isn't gonna be everything you want, but you will like it if you liked pre-cu and can get over some of the old unbalanced mechanics in that game that will not work in any game but an emulator, that I can tell you. The SWG vets like us were heard, they already took the systems you liked (that work) and have applied them. Lucas Arts has noted your concerns and applied the data for building it where needed. But there are some new systems, as well as some you might not be familiar within TOR.
You just aren't being told yet for a few reasons. For one, announcing this will scare those who think SWG sucked away from this game, they need to get those WoW fans onboard first, they do after all out number elder players. For two, once they tell you, the expectations vets have will go thru the roof, “why can’t you just add this, then that?” “You added this, so why won’t this work?” They stated why it’s being kept hush hush for a reason. It’s one of the reasons they waited even this long to announce it. We are now coming to the end of this journey. There's a lot you DO NOT know, that will be known, very soon, hang tight.
Personally, i wouldnt be surprised if there would be some sort of class-progress. They want to make the game all about choices, and whats a bigger choice then the path you wish to follow for the rest of your online carreer? Good/evil, Light/Dark.. you can change back trough making different choices on (future) quests.
I wouldnt at all be surprised of the Jedi is just 1 class; called Jedi on republic and Sith on the empure side. Then later on becomming guardian/marauder etc.
Other options i see is a rifleman (options like bounty hunter, perhaps clone..), some sort of gunner (having options like smuggler).
But then again, on that list you quickly run out of options unless you start adding options such as driod as a class tough it would be a way to use/allow lightsabers on more then exclusively jedi.
In the end, its all wait and see for now... especially since it would be fun if 'fun' items like this remain somewhat saved for towards open beta times to surprise us and actually give us things to explore.
