Hey all,
I used to play EVE but had to stop because, for some reason, my PC can no longer contact any of the EVE secure sites (i.e. - myeve.eve-online.com and the account management page).
I contacted CCP several months ago and they say they can't find any reason why my host can't connect (I can get to their non-secure sites without any problems).
So, I contacted Comcast, my ISP and asked fi they were blocking anything and they said no, the line is completely open.
I ran a traceroute to myeve.eve-online.com, both from my PC and from www.demon.net (for two different starting places) and they both show the same results: it times out on 'iceland.telecom1.tsd.cw.net'.
Because it times out, I can never connect to the game server, let alone any of the secure (https) sites used by CCP and EVE. I've cancelled the accounts a few months back since I couldn't play, but I do want to play again and so would like to resolve this issue.
I sent an email to Iceland Telecom but probably won't get a response for a few days yet.
Can someone who is able to log into the game do a traceroute to myeve.eve-online.com and post the results?
Or, if you have any idea how I can get a different route to the hosts there, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Wow that's really weird. But you can get to myeve.eve-online.com without any issues?
Thanks for the traceroute results!
Ive had a similar issue with a different game - Planetside. I was getting timeout at a certain place, although i was able to connect and play with a big lag and packetloss.
In my experience, that issues IS caused by your ISP. I fixed my problem by switching from cable to DSL - I needed to do that for other reasons. You, however, may not have that luxury and may not be able to play this game at all.
Contacting your ISP CS didnt help me much becuase they kept blaming planetside server for the packetloss, and planetside CS blamed my ISP for it. I still dont know what caused it but the fact is - changing ISPs fixed my packetloss.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses everyone My ISP and CCP are definitely doing the 'blame each other' routine.
In any case, if I connect my PC directly to the cable modem I can access the sites (even this wouldn't work before but now it does, strangely enough). It's because at some point in the past I upgraded the router firmware to 1.0.10 (SMC Barricade SMC2404WBR) whereas older revs as far back as 1.02 work fine. Some newer implementation of one of the routing protocols is broken in these newer firmwares.
I can't find any firmware for this router older than 1.08 which doesn't work so it looks like I'll be getting a new router or configuring a linux box to do it (unless SMC emails me the older firmware I requested
Thanks again all, the info provided pointed me in the right direction!
