So I - finally- tried EVE and I have a question

RedslayerRedslayer Member Posts: 108

Feel free to skip the story, and just answer the question at the bottom -

So, After a couple of years of randomly keeping track of EVE, Listening to what people had to say, I heard people say it was too hard and too boring.. and all that, But I also listened to the people who loved it, And finaly, After reading a post the other day, I decided, Its about time to try EVE... Now I had been told many times, That EVE is more for hardcore people, and if I liked WoW don't try it, lol. (Not a flame from me btw, so don't take offense) But I have always been into the 'harder' games, Been playing Ryzom on and off for years...  (not going to explain the game here, as this is EVE's forum), And so I D/Ld the trial, and began learning.

Now at first, it seemed a bit complicated, and kinda clunky in the controls, I kept wanted to press the arrows to turn and go, which annoyed me for the first 30-45 seconds. But that quickly passed, and within a couple hours, I had learned quite a bit, and was out making ISK. Baught a new ship and wasted ISK on a blue print I will likely never use lol. But its all good .. I saved and saved, over a million ISK in 2-3 days (not counting spent ISK) and baught a new ship and the traning plan for it... only to find out I can't train that skill while on trial -.-

So here is the question - I love the game, and want to sub - If I sub now with 10 or 11 days left on the trial, will I lose the rest of my trial time? or will I still get those 10 days free? , I want to sub, but I'm extremely low on funds atm IRL,

Thanks for any useful answers in advance :) 0 P.S. its late and I'm feeling bad, so Sorry for any MT I may have made throughout the post

IIRC as soon as you sub the free time is gone.  Lots of people go ahead and pay for the account anyway because the limitations on trial are a pain.  Look me up in game and I'll help get you started if you want.

    Welcome to EvE : )

It makes me appear that I am not knowledgable enough in the subject I am discussing to be able to translate it for people outside the field to understand. Some advice you might consider as well)

hmm ok, I'll have to wait atleast a couple more days then, And thanks for the offer, maybe once I get established a bit more I'll look ya up, But I want to learn / earn the hard way for a bit first, (Tends to stick with you better in the long run).

    Thnx  :)

P.S. Is your Ingame name the same as your Forum name? My ingame name is 'RedslayerofAtys'  (name gives me that nastalgic feel from my first MMO lol)

Just wait for the end of your trial.  Also, if you pay with a game time card, and use it to activate your account, you get a bit of a discount.  There may still be some sites with the 30 day GTCs for $15.  (they discontinued the 30 days, and only sell 60 days now).  But the game itself costs $20.. and they allow you to use GTCs to activate your account.  I did this when I started, and got my full 30 days for the $15 it cost for the GTC.

im guessing the ship you bought is an industrial? there are frigates that get a bonus to mining and cargospace, so you could use one of those for now. i would stay with the trial until it runs out tbh, free is always good :)

if you need any help, hit me up in game, i use the same nick.

To answer your question, tho it was already answered, better wait for the trial to expire and then sub, also on the topic of IRL funds being low, once you buy the game and get the initial 30 days, you can play and start raking up isk and pay with ingame money, tho the ISK prices for GTC have skyrocketed ... I remember when they were 100 mil for 30 days... you should be able after 20 days (including trial) to grasp the more common aspects of isk making.

The best way for newbies to make isk in EVE imo is to belt hop in a cruiser or frig and look for faction spawns and sell the loot, and the thing is,if you do it say,1 hour per day,you are bound to find afew good spawns and drops that will net you the needed isk.

The concept of belt hopping is getting in a generaly fast ship (that can move and warp fast),cruisers or frigs and just go to a low sec system and start going threw each belt from bottom to top (this order) and look for ships with Domination,True,Dark Blood,Shadow in their name, you can also tell them apart cause they have a bigger bounty than the normal ships, just keep going threw belts and systems ,dont bother killing anything unless it's a faction ship.

Hope it helps, even if you dont want to use isk to buy more game time, the suggestion works for earning isk for other stuff too, just note that this method is highly luck based, and generaly for people who do not have the time to run missions etc.

what he said, if you cant sub now, it's ok, you can always create a new 14-day trial anytime. if you want i can give you a 21-day trial (which if you subscribe i'll get a free month),

Thanks everyone, The inital shock of not being able to use the ship I worked hard on getting, Made me lose some focus heh, But I'll be back at it soon enough... as soon as this stupid thing they call "RL" stops being so stupid. What a dumb game... They need to just re-do the game, Cus RL sucks.

Need to nerf cops, and patch out 'bills' they suck, they also need to make a patch for gas prices... make them about 25 cents.

So what blue print did you end up with on accident?  Everything in eve has value because everything is player made, so if you don't want it just re-sell it.

Blueprints can actually go up in value through researching.  If nothing else you can get face value back for it if you just wanted to sell it as is.

What ship are you trying to fly now?

I had bought the 'bestower' cus of its storage capacity, Figured I could use it to move everything I have to where ever I go, and I like to mine so far so...

Anyway, just incase anyone else ever has the same question I had I just got confirmation from a GM -

    -------------------------------------------

    Greetings,

when you subscribe, your trial ends at that time and the subscription you paid for begins. The 19.95 covers the first 30 days of gameplay (there's a one time 5.00 account activation fee when you convert), it is not 19.95 + 14.95. If you have any other questions or problems, or would like your petition closed, please let me know.

    Best regards,

    GM Nythanos

Anyway, Now I'm gonna get a ship with slightly higher capacity then the one I have now, and then perhaps buy another to do some combat in, to see how welll I like that... All in due time! And the blue print was for the Gallente (spelling?) shuttle. I tried to resell it, and it told me there was no market for it or something - So as of now its a waist of money, I figured I'll carry it to a new area at some point, and maybe eventually sell it then, or maybe I'll make use of it heh.

Actually you can make good money on a shuttle BPO.

They are fairly easy to build (does  not require a lot of Tritanium) and people will still buy them even when you sell them at 100+% profit. That is because even at such a high profit margin the price is not much for a guy who can do level 3 or 4 missions. Still, those guys like to buy shuttles when their ship has popped and they need to buy a new.

Only thing you need to find is either a popular station for people running mission or some low sec hub in the faction warfare zones. Then you should make profit.
