I'm all for adding more options to the game. Not having 1st person view was a issue for some people at the beginning of the game. I personally wont use it for most of the game but it will be a nice option to have for swimming under water.
Yeah. What I love the most about D&D, is this is a game of options. Unlike WoW and it's clones, it has really important options for a character. So knowing that UI goes the same road, makes me really happy.
Another nice additions to UI for Mod 9 are:
* Loot All button for chests (with key-bind default on "B") * Shrines & chests will now show on maps
Maybe there will be more of it, this was however announced on forums to date.

Its too many options for some people. Its probably the only MMOG on the market where you can permanently gimp a character by making bad choices. I know this drives some people insane. Personally I think its one of DDO's greatest strengths.

My wife will not play the game with me because there are to many options. I love the game because of the options.
What do you think, this is more fuel to the fire that DDO might be heading to consoles in the future?
Yes, for sure. DDO is a great game for consoles, and I don't mean it's simple - it's just quick with action and combat style.
DDO for Xbox and maybe PS3, for me = DDO being next major player in MMO market.
Would be nice if they ported it over and got a bigger base of players that way. They still need to add some things to keep people busy outside of the quests though. DDO has been a niche game since release for a few reasons and most of them have not changed yet. In order to be the next major player they need to change a few things. People who love the game will play but in order to bring in and keep the people who are currently not playing DDO needs changes.
I came back a month ago and I have remembered what it was about other MMOs that seemed lacking, character building. Too many other MMOs the character you build is cookie cutter, you have no real choices to make. DDO has the choices and the ability, if you put your mind to it, to create odd but amazingly functional characters. Few games come close to the combat and character building DDO has. But if you move this game to the consoles and you still have the in game economic issues and loot problems you will have a lot of people not thrilled when they start.

Hi!
I think you're right . I'm not any old timer, and haven't even capped any toon (having TONS of fun playing different characters!), but I agree. "Real" crafting would be great, and yeah, AH should cost less.
I also think there should be more changes to help new players learn DDO, because many former WoW-players feel lost without... uh, a spoon. But not only from that reason. Personally, I'd like more information to be available IN the game. And I don't mean those blinking tips on loading screens. That could be nice in Baldur's Gate, but here doesn't make good impression. For me at least.

It seems like a good fit for this game.
