Forum is a lost cause - release prediction
It really has gotten bad around here...when a lot of the trolls have gotten so stuborn that they were wrong about it being vaporware and asking for it to be removed from teh website...now they post in every thread rehashing the same arguements and jumping on every chance to insult df or the people who like it.
On release...whether it is smooth or bad...there will be so many posts saying "ha i told you DF sucks" no matter what the state of the game is...just because they are no longer gamers and have this notion that they must see a video game fail.
Pretty pathetic when you spend hours out of your day repeating the same statement because you want to see a developer fail...a developer that has actual people getting up every morning to bring us another mmo into a market that has been fulled of failures. You are NOT gamers...and yes i can judge you as not being a gamer when you try so obviously to discredit a game at every possibility. And no you arent "Saving the community from another DnL"...the sane people who havent played beta will wait for reviews before they buy...you arent changing anyone's opinion...you are just pathetic.
So release day will be fun with the resident trolls giving a circle jerk with reasons why DF is a failure...whether it be that it only has a few hundred thousands subs (what its target really is realistically given the gameplay) or that its an elitest gankfest (any modern day mmo has eliteism in it, pve or pvp)...or whatever reason the same people who have been making threads like "DF is a fake scam" or "hahahaa its all comming apart now i was right 11!!!!one!!!" have been making.
The real gamers will be giving the game a fair shot, or writing objective reviews about why the game is good or bad. If i could write a review right now, you would see how unfanboi-istic I really am because as much as i think it is the best mmo experience on the market right now, it has some big problemos.

Sad, but true in regards to a lot of posters here. There are still real skeptics here though that have valid concerns. The problem is how easily they sway towards being a hater or getting emotionally involved.
Really though your prediction is probably 100% accurate. It has been this way for a lot of MMORPG launches. It is the reason I stop posting here come launch and I stick to in game.
I am in the same boat as you. I think it is great fun, and I will play, but there are still a lot of issues they need to sort out. They are just very acceptable issues to me in regards to a beta/launch MMO these days. I have faith in the devs based on their proven updates and handling of the beta client.
There is too few consequences for trolls. They spin their negativity how they like without risk.
If you let idiots and assholes the freeedom to speak they will use it .
They make no difference between them sitting in the loo or posting in the darkFall forum. Moderation has to define some new rules that prevent negative opinions about the game.

Sadly this has came to pass thanks to some really ill launches of last year. Many tasted vaporware from dnl and well many false promises from other mmos. Not to mention many unfinished and bugged games that were pushed out the door and hyped to hell by thier devs.
Darkfall right now is sparking many problems that other mmos pushed on the community. Many though it was vaporware. but as leaked videos have been comming out that is being proved to be wrong.
a very tight nda before release. no open beta. the game can be preordered . All this has been seen in the past as a warning that this can be a bad game/ scam ect. This is why this game is witnessing many troll posts and many warning posts.
You really cannot blame the community as it has suffered from many bad and false releases. Many people want a new game somthing other than the popular one i wont mention. Alot of games came out promised by the devs they will be different yet failed to keep promises. hyped their games. one even scammed the mmo community. We the posters have grown wary and well paranoid with each release thats comming out.
Your prediction in a way its not a prediction , anyone could have figured that out. Darkfall is not the only game suffering from this surge of negativity. Aion and even the old republic is suffering from many things also.

If you're talking about the original meaning of the word than you are correct. But the word can also be used to refer to a soviet prison or interment camp and since there were more than one of those, I used the plural.
Edit: If I'd have said "zona", not a lot of people would understand what I'm talking about.
By your own sentiment you should self ban yourself from these forums for talking negatively on these forums shortly before and on Jan 22nd.

The highlighted line in red is so rediculous as to be offensive. Basically you are saying there are no valid conversations unless they are only by people with positive opinions. This mentality is akin to cults and fascist governments... well done sir.

I agree with the OP to a degree. Apparently there is a thread about this over HERE in the site suggestion forum. Post there to help get your message heard to the MMORPG.com staff. Trolling is a violation of the MMORPG.com forum policy, and infractions need to be handed out for doing it to curtail it. There is nothing wrong with good ciriticsm and debate, but some here are so venomous towards this game that this forum is has been hijacked.

As i reading the thread and responses to it i've come to a conclusion... the fanbois all come off as abunch of little crybaby girls.
Let the game speak for itself when it comes out. if its good its good. Your not gonna stop ppl from disliking the game. Sometimes the best response is no response.

You guys are totally missing what the op is saying.
And you know what, opinions based on lack of information or solid facts are baseless and usually spewed from the mouths of fools. When stupid people are allowed an opinon, that is when things go downhill, just look at the state of the world. Oh wait, most of you probably dont know about reality ..
This game should not be called an MMO. It should be called an EMO. Pretty much all I read here is posts from people that are extremley emo.

There is a ton of information out there. Checkout youtube or any beta leaker site that has info on darkfall. Most even copy / paste the heavily debated threads from AV's beta forum. The problem is people come to the DF subforum with their opinion after watching and searching out the information, make a post, and if one side doesn't like it, then instead of debate the " instant troll " label is placed. The bickering only gets worse from their.
I think a 3 hr day ban should be placed on everyone that uses the word troll. It might actually make people think before they type.

These words have nothing to do with the actual game and everything to do with proving trolls wrong. My response was to the "trolling about trolling" which is exactly what your OP was about. This thread has no relevance to the DF, only the people on this board, so you fail by your own criteria as to what this forum is for.
I agree there needs to be more constructive discussion, however BOTH sides have their share of trolls that purposely derail any discussion thread. There are people that want nothing but blind praising of the game and ban any critical posters because the posts are critical. So before you get off your self righteous soapbox, perhaps you can talk about both types of trolls.
The truth is that this forum is filled with more fans then any other group. What gets lost is the fact that you can be a fan and be critical at the same time. You can also be a troll and act like the biggest fanbois of all time. This are not mutually exclusive to each other like you would portray them. Some would call that attitude elitist and dishonest.

And what sort of discussion would you be having here if there weren't any sceptics. And yes, I say sceptics even if you want to label them trolls. There are two sides to an argument, if there where only fans around here this forum would be quiet. You cant discuss something properly if both sides completely agree that everything is fine and the game is perfect...

Sorry kids these forums are only going to get worse in the coming weeks... and the continued NDA is simply going to make things worse but I expect this from aventurine.Also I'd like to point out the supporters of this game ignore any logical arguements and continue to make make threads about the general state of the fourms rather than answering logical trains of thought . Here are two :
If aventurine is really struggling to get hosting / funding for launch (which coffee morning indicated).. why have they not sold off some of there groundbreaking technology allowing hundreds of people to fight on the same server at once at the same time ?

Whys is the NDA still up and appears to be staying up until launch ? This does not follow a pattern of other releases.
