I stopped following the game up until recently for about a year or two and now that I am back I see alot of people saying that the company needs money.
I am wondering if I missed an update from them or somthing saying that although money has never been a problem all of a sudden they are in a tight place for it now? Or are people just pulling it out of their ass because they think the game is going to fail?
AFAIK I remeber reading about them being independantly funded and there were no real money problems which allowed them to go about as they pleased.

I believe it's the assumption of Aventurine having little to no money to work with now. The fact that last month's release was delayed, contradicts this though. It could just be that they want to release a quality game. All I know is that I, too have seen no actual statements or figures.

It's honestly like everyone logs onto WoW, and games like WoW, just to masturbate. Everyone plays by themselves, and when they don't, they get what they want and get off.

You would think that. However, recent comments from Tasos suggest differently. "Limited capacity" and limited resources seems to be Tasos' new pet phrases.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
WTH? since when is Limited Capacity of a server mean they have limited resources. He even went on to explain how their servers take more time to setup than a normal MMO and that if the demand excceeds server capacity it could take awhile before they would get another one up meaning everyone's gameplay experiance would suffer.

All developers want to release a quality game. What would be the motivation for wanting to release a crappy game that's not finished?
It's just part of reality that resources are finite, not infinite.
I do not believe that Aventurine has a Billion dollars in the bank, and they could continue developing indefinitely if they wanted to.
So it looks like everyone is just pulling it out of their ass then?

Do you really need to ask these questions and have this explained?
Yes it's common sense that they have no money or very little money left to work with otherwise they would not have to limit orders and they would be able to host a real open public beta and they would be able to host as many people as they can for launch.
They are taking pre orders and limiting copies because they need capitol from the pre orders and they need to control how many players they have because they can only support a certain %.
This is not good news.. and pretty much means this game is probably going to totally flop.
The game is also totally untested beyond having a few hundred people in the Beta... And there has been NO stress test because again ---> they don't have the resources to host a stress test.
They really have no business trying to launch a MMO and are going to end up causing lots of people lots of headaches.

You can assume resources mean money, but from the look of it I say it is man power. They are a small studio taking on a large project which is usally covered by major publishers.
If they wanted to do all they crap they would have to throw a massive amount of money on untested people and hardware which might not be worth it since the game is so close to release, not to mention to recruit whole new staffs for different departments would take a bit longer than the week or so they have left.
Time is money, but money is by no means time.

beta testers them self say the game is far from ready so theyr releasing an unfinished project like aoc did and look at that rofl man its gonna be fun to read the forums when its released
i think the answer to you questions is this.
They lost their Publisher.
No publisher = no financual support to work on.
Watching Fanbois drop their soap in a prison full of desperate men.
You are making just as many assumptions as the people who are crying AV is broke.
If they had a substantial release budget then a sufficient number of servers would already be in progress since the end of December. No production server takes 2 - 3 months to construct even if you are doing 10 - 20 at a time... this is unless the servers are still in development.
The truth is no one knows (not you, the trolls, or I). The only thing that is clear is that they are taking an unusual route to release their game. Some signs are bad like the continuation of the NDA with less then 2 weeks till launch... others are good like having a financial processing company in place.
The lack of any real information has been frustrating to most of the community and you are seeing the backlash. Chances are if AV had a large chunk of capital for release it would not be limited. However, this does not mean they are broke and desperate. Chances are the truth falls somewhere in between.
