Can Darkfall ever be as fun as the it's forums leading up to release?
I'm seriously wondering this. The forums have been quite amusing for quite some time, and I seriously wonder if the game will be more fun than the forums have been. What do you think?
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

No. I think the Forums will be remembered as the highlight of Darkfall.

These forums are actually an unlisted feature for DF.
I like it on the official forums, but there is only so much testosterone driven filth that I can stand.
I swear, some of the stuff that gets spewed over there makes me picture as the Emporer from Star wars when he is killing Luke.
Anyway.
Nothing will beat the thread in which someone stated that if you broke the NDA, you would end up on the INTERPOL watch list, and not be able to leave your country...

sad thing is i think there was/is a roleplay forum on this site...
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
If the game is half as good as the forums I think we have a wow killer!
Dont worry about it, once Darkfall comes out the Fanbois will be playing it and the trolls will be too ashamed to post here, so that will end this forum.
BUT, Mortal Online is coming, that will migrate all the trolls over there to restart from scartch.
They will probably start with the Vaporware argument, that should last awhile.
Then move over to no communication, whenever its been more then a week since an official dev post, then when the devs do post they will scream about lies and red flags.
And lastly they will start to get frantic and talk about missing key features without ever really explaining what is so key about any of the features.
Then MO gets released and its on to something else.

yeah the forums have been fun for the past few months .. but it would be hard to top the night of jan 22 .. that was awesome!!
1000s of people gathered together online at the same time, eagerly awaiting the announcement of DF's release
Everyone, fanbois and trolls alike, were on the DF forums and the mmorpg forums, posting their 2-bit opinions, arguing, fighting, waiting, waiting and then ... the supposed DOS attack on DF website, the DF forums going down, everyone gathering on DF IRC, (and getting banned for daring to question the integrity of the project), and then Tasos' 11th hour confession and the following flame wars.. it was truly lots of fun!
they should make a mini-series out of it
These threads have been what gets me through the working day. There will always be a game to fill the much need 'drama void', be it DnL, Mourning, AoC, WAR...
At the end of the day, it's just a game, and has no effect on any of ours lives (I would hope).

The amount of fanboys from this forum never cease to amaze me. I remember a few years back the same kind of buzz was about Dark And Light and how incredible the game was going to be. See what happened ?
Darkfall is on the very same road. Adventurine hasnt proove to anyone that they can be trusted, believed in any way. So far these developpers have nothing but lies, delays as reputation BUT still peoples believe this game will be successful.....
You seem to be confusing the fanbois and the skeptics. You see, the fanbois are the ones that move from game to game, proclaiming it to be the creation of God himself, only to find that the game sucks and they move on to the next game in the pipeline. The trolls are only born from the obnoxious spewing of the fanbois.

Regardless, from what I have seen MO dev crew seems a bit more interested in their community than DF. Perhaps you should do a little looking before comparing the two. Sure they are similar concepts, but development seems to be going in polar opposite directions.

DF would have to be a masterpiece to eclipse anything like the drama and hillarity on these forums. I for one enjoy the DF forum experience... 10 /10 !
As for the game... who knows... I'd say next week BUT I think there just a slight chance.. of ....ooh MORE forum drama !

No you are wrong.
U see Fanbois PLAY the games the adore, while trolls dont, so trolls having nothing better to do, amuse themselves by moving from game to game.
Its simple really, Im here because I intend to play the game, while Haters of the game are here because they want to Troll the people who want to play the game.

Bitter are u kidding? Ive got frontrow seat to the troll arguments dying one by one, we are already halfway down my list for this game.
And I think MO looks great, who wouldnt, but dont worry, that game will have PLENTY of hater-trolls before release as well.

with the limited info we have before the NDA is lifted I'd say no, the forums are more fun.
I reserve the right to change my opinion after the NDA is dropped.
I've seen the beta leaks, but they seem unreliable. I just mean there's not enough of them and they are inconsistent. I'd rather see the consensus when the NDA finally drops. Although I have considered that they may not drop the NDA after the game releases. The TOS will include an NDA and you can only download and play the game if you agree not to talk about it.
If this game is as good as it's forums I'm quitting life to play!
My fingers are crossed for the game. Always have been. I hate to see anything fail that could be something really good if all goes well. I have had loads of fun reading these forums and participaing in a few of them and I'll be sure to retain the memories of so much good fun and hysterically funny arguments for years to come. It's definitely been an experience. If the game is half as good as the forums I'll be a fanboi for sure!

No, the DF forums are like this because the whole DF project has been absurd from start to finish. Every development has been bizarre. This has made it very entertaining, but it means the game at the centre will be totally shambolic.
DF is not for everyone.
If u dont like the premise of the game then u are really wasting ur time.

Darkstar, please come back to these forums and post after the game releases, and after the NDA is dropped. You have spent a tremendous effort pimping a game that isn't released.
I don't know if you are in the beta or not. If you are, one would assume you'd spend time playing the game, rather that posting here. If you are not, then how can you know DF is so wonderful that anyone that criticizes it is Satan?

Im not in beta, and all ive got to go on is the same things uve got to go on.
What throws me into the fray is when people make asnine assumptions about the game even thou they have no idea about how it actually plays.
Im not saying ppl arent allowed to make assumptions thats fine, but the only negative thing anyone here uses to actually critisize the game thats true, is the mismanagemend of its marketing, thats it.
Based on that alone some people on this forum have convinced themselves that the game is another MMO failure.
Well im sorry thats not enough to go on, specially not when the Beta leakers pretty much all agree the game is solid, something that was not the case in for example Dark and Light, from what ive read on wiki at least.

So, basically, you have no idea how the game actually plays either. Maybe you should consider lowering the tone of your assertions.
