DDO has something similar with that combat style but not as in depth as I think your meaning. In DDO you can manually aim your arrow but it always flies straight and true no arrow arc. To use your shield you manually press the block button. I have to admit if it wasn't for the low sub rates in the beginning DDO is the game I would be playing just based on the fast paced exciting combat that they had. Also if something is flying at you like an arrow or a fire pot you can actually dodge it by strafing. The other thing was if you want to protect the healer you can put bodies between him and the enemy and physically keep them away. No walking through enemy or friendly bodies.
I should note that you can target (tab) a creature and shoot your arrow and it will fly right at it but it does have a chance to physically dodge. So you don't always have to manually aim.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.
As mentioned DDO does it very well, you can dodge, tumble, block and trip in melee combat. Plus additional moves with special feats. But for me the ranged combat is where it shines, you can dodge projectiles, use scenery, use someone else (yep arrows don't pass through other people to hit you, they hit them instead ) or just block to take some sting out of the impact. Have to be careful when shooting mobs because if they are moving about you might end up hitting something nasty, rather than that nice squishy caster causing so much trouble from the back.
Edit: Seems I was typing at the same time as Seabass. So I will add you can't control the arc of your arrows but mobs can. Bit of a shock when you think you have escaped an ambush by getting to higher ground, for the archers to start arcing arrows over the top.
There is nothing similar to DF. We have seen DFs features in other MMOs, but never combined in the way in DF: - Player skill based. - Manual aiming. - No levels or classes. - FFAPvP (friendlyfire). - Full loot. - Real time combat. - Open world.
Each of these features is in almost every MMO, but combined it gets pretty uniq.
Entropia Universe (Project Entropia) has every feature in your list, except that PVP is restricted to a % of the world and you can loot from killed player only stackable loot. However it's some sort of online casino (its under debate) and you need real-cash to buy stuff in game or countless hours to gather money if you want to play for free.
Serious question...not intended to promote DF in anyway....more out of curiousity as i would like to compare the systems... Is there any other fantasy MMO availible right now in which you have to aim your range attacks FPS style? With the requirements of having to lead your target and adjust for the arc in the arrow flight path at longer distances, with manual dodging. Curious if any mmo right now, even some rando f2p i may not know of, has this kind of system in place.
Yes. There is NOTHING new or innovative in Darkfall at all, it just a bunch of Gen1 features that were removed from Gen1 MMO's, because they are FLAWED and OUTDATED for modern gaming.
