Question about servers / where's the community?

I'm in the trial, rolled on Tyranny becuase it sounded like an active server - so far, besides a nice fellow from these forums, everyone has appeared to be completely unhelpful and immature. Global chat is filled with obscenities and immature dick and fart level jokes, ganking galore to the point that it seriously can't be fun for them, and the works. Is this a precedent I'll find on every server? Should I try a PVE server?
Just worried I picked the bad apple server and want to know if I should switch servers before it's too late

Thanks, try Set...it's the popular PvE server. I'm being nice, usually I just do a PvE server >>> ;p
Though the middle school lunch room humor has subsided a lot since release, I didn't even notice it on Tyrany. However, even though Set is the up right server, players complain about that server's chat too.
I disagree with the ganking thing, that is always fun....go gank higher lkevel players, that's pretty cool or give them DKs.

I was on Agony when I tried, and I met some kind folks of various guilds. The population is definitely smaller than what I hear of Tyranny, but since it's a newer server, there seemed to be a lot less ganking. Yes, global chat did seem like the cliche "Barrens chat," but it wasn't half bad overall.
yeah you did, i was on tyranny and its global makes wows barrens chat look tame. tyranny has horrible horrible player base seriously..its like that server attracted the worst of the worst.i never seen worse bunch of immature idiots in any other mmo. i'm sure there are some bad ones in other games but those morons think since the game is rated "mature" they can say what they want and 'swearing" automaticly must mean you're "mature" enough to play the game.and since its rated mature i guess that means they're allowed to act like that, racist jokes, gay jokes, callin each other teh foulest names imaginable all in the global chat. and yet no one gets in any kind of trouble from the looks of it.
i transfered to cimmeria (think thats how its spelled) its pvp/rp you don't see rping going on but there is rp guilds and what not.people are alot more helpful and laid back. some annoying people but i have never played a game that didn't atleast have some that shouldn't have been let out of their cages..lol
if you go to cimmeria do yourself a favor and as soon as you get in there put "Juliat" on ignore he's annoying as hell but seems more like he just tries to get a rise out of people. and he's the complete opposite of tyranny annoying where if some one does swear in global telling them no swearing and jesus loves them crap.
set for pve or cimmeria for pvp cimmeria is the second most populated server from what i hear.
So Cimmeria has a pretty decent, mature community? (Mature being used in the proper sense and not the definition that Tyranny believes in, as you said)
yeah cimmeria is 100x more mature than tyranny could ever hope to be.i don't rp most on there don't either, they had merged nonrp servers in cimmeria

It can be very "coarse" at times. There are some decent people there though. As your not to far in it might not be a bad idea to try another server?
No it is not the precedant all over.
Cimmeria is good, plus Tyranny are jealous as the games first PvP level 5 happened on Cimmeria a non all PvP server.
How much ganking actually happens there? Agony didn't have much at all. And when I did get hit, I had a buddy, and we creamed the two who kept following us.
also if you hit white sands isle there is a couple of grievers (rangers of course) not always there, so don't get discouraged the rest of the game isn't like that. they just suck at real pvp so they need to leave twinks on WS to grieve people.i've been lvling an alt here and there just to kill them..lol
umm there is minor ganking on cimmeria i mean wasn't at all like on tyranny where you'd see the same group running around destroying every solo person they saw.
you will get attacked once in awhile but alot of the attackers i've had do it solo so i atleast see that as fair and don't mind it at all. name of the game on pvp really.i mean i want to get attacked once in awhile tahts why i'm there.i'm more of a defensive player i don't attack everyone i see, some i'm sure is like me just out tryin to do some quests,lvl, and what not.but if i get attacked and they win i have never had some one just follow me around killing me over and over.i've been attacked by people then getting tells "good fight wanna team up for such and such quest?".
i did have a couple of people gank me while i was fighting a mob the 2 killed me, i went back killed them both while THEY was fighting a mob, then the HoX has a self rez popped back up and killed me. i rezzed ran back over there started fighting him got him about 74% health when his conq friend caught up finished him off then his friend was fun
and they was both my lvl.
Yeah, I'm defensive as well. I only fight back if attacked. Well, if I decide to try again, I'll probably check out Cimmeria.
Unfortunately this happens in almost all MMOs. In AoC it just happens a lot more.
What do you expect when you have an "adult" game with digital boobies? Of course it will attract the most immature kids (and adults).
Well I've played pretty much every MMO under ths un that has seen a retail release, and the global chat in my first night on Tryanny was appauling. It was seriously the worst sign of an MMO community I've ever seen.
Then the random guild invites, random party invite where a dude got all pissy that I declined, ranger gankers (which I did suspsect was usual, but that doesn't make it ok) on WS, then just assasin gankers in the underground wine spot...I'm just trying to finish a damn quest.
I'm not a carebear, but griefing =! not pvp. I'll probably give Cimmeria tonight, or give Tyranny one more shot tonight.

Do NOT play on Tyranny unless you want to play with friends you already know.

and just to be clear - I'm not bashing the entire AoC community
I'm sure there are some great people in every server, just sucks for Tyranny that the vocal majority who spam the global chat are obnoxious 12 year olds (or those who act like it).
I'm probably going to make a Ranger on Cimmeria tomorrow (I'm so jaded to gankers in WS that I feel like I HAVE to be a ranger to combat their grief).

This is why I do not play open PvP games. When you promote open FFA PvP you are going to attract immature players. Eve avoided the worst of that by making thier game very challenging, AoC lacks that since it is in my opinion one of the easiest and quickest to lvl MMO's I have ever played. promoting the pixilated boobs and blood dd not help either.

They can remove both of these features for all I care. Maybe then some of the most immature kids would quit and there wasn't so much crap in general chat.
Boobs and fatalities do not make a mature game. I see plenty of boobs in real life and fatalities get old after you've seen them a couple of times.
