Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I never said you were a worthless person, but at 32 which is 2 years older than me, I would rather die than move back in with my parents. I would have slept in my damn car taking baths at a truck stop till I got back on my feet, than admit defeat to this world. That is me and this is you. We just come from 2 different worlds.
In other countries it is commonplace for people well into their 30's-40's to live with their parents in the same home due to a housing shortage. I suppose they should all kill themselves.
Let's say that your child had hit 18 and had been accepted into a prestigious university that would require nearly all of his time to succeed making it nearly impossible for him/her to work while getting his/her degree in a timely manner; as there is a lack of government funding for students at the moment, assume that your child could not afford housing nor live in a dorm due to a shortage, but that your dwelling was a perfectly viable option. Would you still kick your child out of the house in that situation?
Are you really saying that you're going to abandon your child once it reaches 18 years of age to make it stronger? The irony is that nowadays strength is measured in financial wealth and the opportunity cost of not getting an education is greater than the paltry salary one could make coming out of high school; there is nearly always a ridiculous supply of people with high school qualifications, so you'd make your child work for what? His inconvenience? Your own financial well-being?
I could understand forcing your child to get a job if he/she doesn't attend school, but it isn't rational to kick your children out of the house for the sake of doing it especially when they don't have the financial means to afford their own dwellings, unless it's some kind of rationalization for your own financial benefit....
So, yes.. if you kick your children out of the house at 18 (and do not provide them with the necessary funding to at least maintain their living conditions) when you have the economical means to support them and they are unable to afford a good standard of living, then you're an asshole.

Comparing Darkfall to the release state of many other games on the market It meets the standard.
Stability: This game’s client is rock solid and errors are few and far between. If you experience them ever. This should be the highest standard to tell if a game is ready for release. There were several past MMOs that couldn’t even get this right. Point is, THIS GAME WORKS. Ignoring of course the massive amount of local memory injections already found being that the morons at Aventurine never heard of the first rule of making a MMO... DONT, MAKE, IMPORTANT, SHIT, CLIENTSIDE.
Playable world with mobs and content: It’s all there, some people say its empty but it’s simply not true. There are mob spawns everywhere, caves player city locations. The game has a lot in it.
Every video i've seen it looks like a ghost town.
Working Progression system: There is a skill system in place that people can progress their character though. Is it perfect and finished? No. But not even WoW had that crap down look at talents.
Sit in a safe spot, cast spells up at the sky, walk away, come back a few hours later to maxed skills. Sounds fun.
GUI: It has one and it works to a point. It is not very customizable but it still works. Chat is handled and you can interact with the game with no issues if you learn what to press.
Meh, GUI means little to nothing to me.
Knows it’s target audience: The game caters to a certain type of player and they know it and the game is designed for such a thing.
Target Audience: 13-20 still living at home with mommy and daddy while becoming DAS UBER LEGENDARY PVPAAARRRRS.
Graphics: It is comparable to current popular games. Is it AOC super graphics no but it works and doesn’t look like its 10 years old. Graphics mean little to nothing to me. I have been through a lot of MMORPG releases and darkfall is just as good as and better than some other games at the 1 week before released point. The game is there, it is playable, it is functional, it is fun, and it is ready for release. In your hubris opinion. I'll try it when there is a free trial, and there will be after about 3 months of complete failure.

I've seen plenty of macro'ers it is just like Runescape from few years back there are people the world over in beta, macro'ing woodcutting / fishing / magic in safe zones - dozens and dozens of them.

Well, let's face it. They are n00b ( not newbie ) devs. Who the hell would make magic ( one example ) skillable without having a valid target to hit if they didn't want macro'ers?
Their primary target playerbase just wants to gank, not craft or skill up. Aventurine fucked up from the beginning wasting time trying to make an mmorpg for people who just wanted Counterstike with swords.

Well thats your opinion. Your allowed it lol, however misguided I feel it is.
Yes there will be macro'ers and how sweet are they to find lol. All kind of fun things you can do to them. I had one think they were safe macroing on a roof top, I had a friend blast me up there. I jump on his head and let his MM's kill me. Came back killed him, then spent awhile at westone getting some alignment gains by pking him over and over. Wish I could have seen the look on his face when he realise he was a good ways away from town and no bank near by he could use to get his gear lol.
Macroing will happen, happend in UO. The only thing that should not be allowed is unattended macroing. This kind of resolves itself though. Finding a afk macroing miner is a beautiful thing. Kill Loot, and bank lol.
As far as people simply wanting to gank etc, I don't see that either. The PvE is actually fun for me, which is rare in an MMO. The AI is usualy extremely retarded and predictable. You follow this formula you win, don't you lose................. In DFO the PvE is unpredictable and fun. I ran up to some lone mobs and had to high tail it out of there because it turned out they had friends over the hill which they ran to after low on life. So now I had a group of em after me. There's always the chance of a random PK encounter, enemy clans showing up, Racial enemies showing up and any slew of other things that can happen. Hell your weapon could break in combat lol.
Sorry, I guess I just don't see it the way you guys do. I like it for the challenge, and simply for the fun. Can't recall an MMO that I had this much fun in and this is just the beta. Can't wait till it's out of Debug mode and more people are in game. Going to be mad fun.
As far as macroing goes, your better off playing than standing there and macroing your skills up. I have found I get better gains actually hitting something rather than casting in the air. Maybe thats why I don't see the grind in the magic. I hit 30 LM in almost no time, simply by using it to heal myself and fire MM's to pull mobs and to take a bit of there life down before engaging them.
Best part is, even if you macro your skills to max lol, your don't have that much advantage over a freshly made char lol. Its sad really. Someone spending weeks macroing only to die by the hand of some newb char made 10 minutes ago lol, congradulations!
But see things how you want, my advice Zorvan is not to put to much value on the posts by gnlLucid seeing how he has already stated he is not in beta and hasn't even tried the game yet lol. But hey, back the horse you want.
Another Note worthy thing, these Noob devs have a beta that has more polish, is more complete than several MMO's are months after launch. These Noob Devs also can patch extremely fast and do so without breaking a hundred other things lol. Seems many of these Dev companies could benefit by taking lessons from these noob devs.

DF is not for everyone that much is obvious, for those that it is, it will be be a great love, for the others no matter what you say they won't listen...so don't worry people have different expectations. Me? Well I've been in Beta for 2 weeks and the first two days were rough, that is until I learnt the ropes. Now I can't get enough, and will pre-order....as will the other 80 folks in the guild I'm in. Oh and one more thing, it really isn't worrying us what the masses think...our concern is if we even manage to find a Hamlet in game to set up shop...we'll be competing with a thousand other guilds...now that's something to be worried over.
Plus the fewer of these gimps stay out of my game the more resources are there free for me to use.

You know, considering how terrible most new MMO releases have been the last couple of years... I am inclined to agree on this topic. Doesn't mean were not in for a helluva bad first 90 days.
This thread is full of win! Seriously, I think the average person can see what Darkfall has and does not have with all the videos and reviews out there. The game is not in any better shape then any other MMORPG that has come out since EQ. They all have bugs, they all have issues that are small to some but major to others. And they also have alot of features missing and features added. I know this wont be a post that gets the complaining to stop, but when are people going to grow up? Forums used to be about information and mature debates, now we have brought ourselves down to the level of a 5 year old. This thread only compunds that fact. When will people just give up and either come to the assumption that quite possibly, mmmorpgs are not thier flavor anymore. God forbid that right? Just something to think about, done with the derail!

I think its terrible that some people forget the launches of some of the better games out there and how they consistantly speak as if games are doomed to fail no matter what.

Ive seen worse launches then this, the issues the game still has are minor and fixable.
The graphics are good enough, everything else can be improved rather easy anyway, and thats saying alot more then other MMO launches ive been a part of.
Why do you think there are so many haters and trolls lol
The only reason I dislike this game is that once it crashes and burns it will be less likely that a real developer will make a pvp sandbox game that's actually interesting, one that doesn't look like a steaming pile of dog feces.

Was a rhetorical question, the answer is pretty obvious. As for your post, your opinion and mine seem to differ greatly. While I agree some work is needed, it is still far better than my other MMO options. It has truly been fun, and I can't really see where you get that it looks like a steaming pile of dog feces but hey, you're allowed your opinion. I went in expecting something completely different and while I didn't find what I was looking for I was pleasently surprised by the fact I enjoyed what I found a great deal.
So as has been stated time and time again, it's a niche game. Doesn't seem like it was meant for you. Good luck finding a game that is more to your liking, but assuming DFO will fail simply because you don't like it is either a bit egotistical or a bit presumptious. In either case good luck to you, I hope you find a game you enjoy as much as I enjoy DFO.

Im curious about this one. You got a source/proof to elaborate on?
Not trolling, just wanna know.
Yep, elaborate, please.
I would be interested in some information regarding this.
People hacking a game client is not really something that should be discussed in detail on an open forum.
While this is true, I would still like to know what information is stored client-side. Not fr hacking purposes, but kind of a gauge of the programmers competence.

LOL honestly, I was just messin with him, I really don't care if he lives at home.
I was just bored and thought it would be a nice discussion.
Does anyone think Obama will play DF when it comes out?
there is a vid of a larger battle, watch it in HD tho.

You know, considering how terrible most new MMO releases have been the last couple of years... I am inclined to agree on this topic. Doesn't mean were not in for a helluva bad first 90 days.
LOLROFL,
Seen much of Romaro since then?
Obama might play Darkfall if they let all the poor people play for free while raising subscription costs for all the working gamers.
Or maybe he could give his copy to the GOP/W./Limbaugh family and let them completly destroy the economy so no one can play at all?

No surprise to anyone I agree with the OP.
Ive seen worse launches then this, the issues the game still has are minor and fixable.
The graphics are good enough, everything else can be improved rather easy anyway, and thats saying alot more then other MMO launches ive been a part of.

Can you imagine how bad it would look if an Indy game was a success for the big players in the MMO industry?

That is all.
