I'm so sick of games telling you what to do and where to go, and how many things to kill and why (the excuses of a story), plz let us develop our characters in original and fun ways.
If there MUST be quests at least make 'em different and exciting, no damn scattered NPC's.
PLEASE

most probably there are typical quests in FE. Its a post-apocalyptic world setting, so you can expect settlements (with NPCs), and a wasteland (with mobs, and materials to harvet & scavenge).
What is your alternative to the tupical quests? I hope tou dont mean an endless grind sort of advancement
Played: Earth'n'Beyond-WoW-EvE-EQ2-LoTRo-PotBS-CoV-Vanguard-FFXI-DDO-L2
There will be no typical quests in Fallen Earth. Now go get me 10 green rocks from the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
I lied!
in every type of skill you have you level up by using that skill. so if you want to level from 1 to 2 you better get to killing 10 or 20 or 30 or 40 or however many it tells you to kill if you want QUEST experience. Or dont do quests at all and just go out and kill things. Questing is just faster no one forces you to do it.
5,500 quests. Yes, I think you'll find quite a few (read: thousands) of the traditional RPG type quests.
For the record, in half the MMOs I've played, grinding has been far faster than questing. I prefer to just pick up a crapload of quests, then go and grind without caring. As I kill and loot, some of the quests get completed without my active involvement. Bonus. I just delete the ones that don't and move on.
there is always gonne be "typical" quests in any MMO no matter how different or special they tell you the questing system will be there will always be some "typical" quests. However i believe they are trying to swtich up questing a bit in this and also there is a lot more to do than just questing all the time so you should be good :P
Yup, thats pretty much what the quests are like. Not that I mind. The setting and the quests fitting into the setting are what matter most to me.
I often find the quests to be quite immersive, nowadays if you actually read an interesting description / storyline it makes grinding quests much more fun, since you have a *reason* to do it.
Just my opinion, if you don't like quests no-one forces you to do them ^^
I do hope the player driven content is there though, since I guess that's what OP is really searching for.
edit: you don't have to quest at all it seems, except the special quests for AP's i guess.
