I was reading this as well, as I have 3 on NAT that play online games.  Never had an issue before, so this should prove interesting.  Never had to configure my NAT, so I'm hoping this won't be an issue.

    Cheers

That looks like a standard FAQ question from just about every MMORPG I have played. Chances are you won't have to worry about it, BUT if your router or firewall has things on super tight lock down then they are just letting you know which ports to open up.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Very few games require reconfiguring of ports for multiple users to play on a network. The only ones I have encountered were Turbines, AC1 and AC2 and that was only to specify separate UDPs for each machine which is a fairly easy process with most home router set-ups.The information listed on your link is typically only for people behind company firewalls that block outging/incoming ports. And if this is the case, I bet the company wouldnt be too thrilled about their employees using company resources for personal gameplay - lol.

Yes, pretty much all of that port information is like EQ1, and I was able to have 10 people behind a NAT router on one IP address with that game. I've also confirmed that WoW works too behind a NAT router just fine (in case you were wondering). EQ2 not working from behind a NAT router would kill at least 30% of its subscriber base (or 90% of linksys's customer base LOL) so I am sure they will make it work.

Talk about stupid.... not used for firewalls... neato!

That just makes me want to play this game even more.

"Sure, let me lower my internet security to NOTHING so I can play a game..."

Djin. you dont lower your security settings to fix a firewall problem and you dont compromise your security (unless you dont trust the game manufacturer - in which case you wouldnt be playing the game to begin with since you are giving them credit card info and all). You simply assign designated ports on your router to carry the game information to/from each computer on the network.
