The amount of trolling in this game is monumental. I just read a thread a couple time from mine with the following title:
Why are fanboi's saying the pre-orders are sold out?
Because they are sold out you tiny brained fucking moron. They had a pre-set amount of people that they wanted to allow to pre-order the game, which was obviously 10k. So the moron, trolling dip-shits are off again making pointless and idiotic posts about it. "LOLZ teh darkfallz server must have crashed, lol lol darkfall sucxz"
You idiots ever think that this was exactly what they wanted to do? That maybe advurturine is trying to make the launch go as smoothly as possible? I would rather wait a couple weeks, rather than buy the game and be frustrated out of my mind trying to log into the servers and not be able to get it.
I'll never understand the hate for this game. I guess it comes from all the passionate fans out there that desperately want this game to succeed. I guess since they are around, the counter-parts have to be there as well, that want nothing more than the game to fail. I just don't understand why they won't go away.
To me, I have a lot of respect for these guys. I know in the past they have made claims or whatever they haven't come true but what I do know, is that these guys are trying there hardest to satisfy a niche group of gamers that have been homeless since UO took the carebear plunge way back in the day.
I've never felt like Adverturine and company have tried to deceive anyone. I think that they have sacrifised there lives and spent many many hours trying to develop this game for a small amount of niche gamers. I don't think they ever intended for this game to be scrutinized and trolled to the extent it has.
I would like to hear some of the reasons from the rest of you all, even the trolls on why this game is hated so much, why these trolls want the game to fail so badly.

For the record I have maintained a neutral stance on the whole Darkfall "campaign" and I just have to say: Amen, brother.
Wow, nerd rage ftl!
Anyway, I just feel sorry for those thousands of hopefuls that missed-out on a pre-order, because they're probably going to have to wait months before Aventurine has the resources to set-up a few more servers to handle the numbers. And my feeling is that the first 10k subscribers are going to be the game's lab rats: server crashes and poor latency for the first few weeks to a month, and then magically fixed by the time more servers are rolled-out. Will they have the patience to stick around until things smooth out?
It's a pity Aventurine couldn't find an investor willing to pump more dollars in to their project. It makes you wonder why they couldn't find one. Curious.
First of all, I'm not a nerd and I didn't throw a "fit". Please stay on the subject.

Looks like nerd rage to me. Anyway, I did stay on-topic; did you bother to read the rest of my post?
I think they're only keeping the one server and expanding it as necessary. This is in my opinion the best approach so they don't spread their users thin over a ton of servers. WAR made that mistake. WoW actually makes that mistake and regularly offer free transfers from full realms to the new (and unneeded) realms they open.
A single server is good anyways because the world will definitely feel alive with activity at all hours.
To the OP and the other dude: Relax, let's keep this constructive.

Yes, I read the rest of your post and calling me a nerd, and saying a threw a fit isn't on the subject. I was pointing out how moronic the person was that started that thread is, there is no rage invovled.
I think anyone with any common sense figured out he was a moron after reading his post. It's all gravy. We're not here to measure each other's balls here. Back on topic!

*Slaps forehead*
Anyway, carry-on.
Definetly agree, though I don't think that they would do it this way if they had the resources. But, yeah some unintentional good things could from it this way.
Basically, I think that they are probably doing this because they are worried about how hard the servers would be flooded. It could be from lack of resources, man power or whatever but I personally see it as the right thing to do. Instead of just open the gates and allowing everyone to order that can and smiling as the balance of there bank account goes up, they are doing it so the player will have a good experience once they get in game.
Well, I'd like to say that I am inside the Beta, and although sometimes I get 400 latency when a new patch hasn't been fully repaired(it is still beta after all), that most of the time my latency is around 150-200 from Kentucky, when it's a European server, and is lag free. I'm able to PvE and PvP perfectly fine with no missed swings etc. Some of the features need to be tweaked, and some things still have to be added in, but from what I've seen it appears to be running smoothly.
As for the server problem, I honestly think that they didn't believe as many people would seriously be buying the game immediately, especially since the people who have signed up and tried to beta/pre-order has increased at a horrifying rate in the past two months. It was something they didn't intend to happen, and their server and account management providers aren't able to cope with the new demand yet, although I'm sure they're going to learn their lesson and will be with the next week or two.
Sure, I've got problems with the game, and I've got things I hope will be changed or added, but I don't see any curious problems or serious errors with the game, and it's much different than most mmos I've played, with the closest being WWIIOL and Shadowbane, although both had much more severe problems than this game has had. I think it's just needs a bit of time for their supply to come up to demand.

You no want sig! You want.... an old joke?!
Yep and to me that makes Aventurine alright in my books. We'll just have to see what happens on the 25th and then 6 months from now. I'm sure by then we'll know what the state of the game is and hopefully it's going strong by then. I haven't pre-ordered yet because of the page being down but will wait and see what they do on launch.
Right on. Good post and thanks for the info.

How do you stay on topic in a troll thread without trolling?
I think that some people can lose some perspective because they just want to play the game so badly. I've been waiting for a game like this since the infamous patch in UO, so a few more months is no big deal to me.

Didn't realize this was a troll thread. What I meant was, could we try to stay away from the personal insults. Yes, I did just insult someone in this thread and many others but would actually like a decent discussion to take place on this thread.
Yea I'm ready to wait a few months before playing. I'm not in a rush to start playing as I like to research the game AFTER it's released. See how the community is evolving (or in some cases devolving) and how they've done with patches and other such things.
I'm so used to playing the game called "waiting" that it's really just another day at the office for me. Hopefully I can be running through an abandoned dungeon full of ghouls or some such thing in the next few months while alt+tabbing to work on a texture... :P
Well, some people call it a "staged release". I see it as a "pay to beta". Different strokes. Pre-orders sold out? I guess the have enough paying beta testers to keep the lights on.
Right now it's the best they can really hope for. I consider a lot of now very popular games to have been "pay to betas" when they released.
im a pretty patient person. i think i can wait until its been release for a month or so and decide then if i want to drop the cash on it. also would like to wait for the NA servers to come out as well.

This is the same point I was about to make. The state of the game, from what I have read and seen in video's seems to be on par with other major MMORPG releases, if not better. The game is obviously playable and has the core features in. I would rather play the game now and let them patch in the features that were left out down the road. Imagine, how this forum would look right now if the game was delayed another six months.
I think that they are in a very tough position, but from everything that has happened, I still beleive they are trying as hard as possible to satisfy the consumers on the game without the games server crashing and being overloaded.
Keep in mind that these guys are still trying to run a business and make money.

Only problem is people seem to think that because they are still a business that needs to make money they are evil and corrupt. You have to remember these guys have to feed the kids and pay the bills too.
You are right, it is a staged release but more than that it's a controlled release. They have not run out of pre-order and they knew how many people wanted in. Remember Tasos excuse on why they went back on their word about everyone can try the game before they buy?
So this tells you that 4 months ago they knew a lot of people would be interested but they still conviently ran out of pre orders..yeah right. There will only be one server come tomorrow and this server has not been stress tested at all.
They were 2.5k people in beta on a server that could hold 10k yet they never tested it?
They really don't know if the server can handle the 10k that tasos says it can.We already know that any PVP involing more than forty people is a lag fests and this 200v200 number that tasos has thrown about is BS. None one in beta has tested the server properly, that's why they say they have had great ping and no lag,it's because Tasos and crew have controlled the number.
The last thing they want is 100k people crashing servers. It's a smart move to keep the desperate fanboys hanging on while they let people PAY TO TEST.
This will back fire though ..

Exactly.
What it all boils down to for me is that these guys are no doubt passionate about the game. I mean this game, to these guys is there life, there futures hinge on the success of this game. They took a leap of faith, for a core niche group of gamers, to make a sandbox type of game thats like UO. We have all been waiting for so long for a game like this, and adverturine was good enough to at least try.
I consider myself a rational person and I have been frustrated at times with how things have gone as well but let's just remember, that these guys want nothing more in the world for this game to do well.
The way they are handling the release, even though it is frustrating for some of us to wait is just more evidence.
Because after all the failed so called AAA MMORPG's these last years, the MMO market is completely screwed up.
Add the global economic crisis to it and you got your answer.
Just have a look at The Cronicles of Spellborn. An actually decent game with good gameplay, nice designed world, nice mob AI, decent quests and dungeons and with both PVE/PVP and FFA PVP server models. They had even build up quite a large fanbase over the years as well.
And then they screwed themselves over with the most horrendous publisher deal ever that basically killed the game off before it was even released.
Investors are not so eager anymore these days to just pump money in every hole they can find.
With Mortal and other like minded titles coming out with capacity to handle more users immediately will darkfall be able to keep people interested long enough while they expand their systems.
Darkfall isn't the only option out there for people who like sandbox. Fallen earth also has a lot of the same ideas and features of darkfall. I am curious how the flood of these PvP centric sandbox games make a go of it with each other.
Perhaps the sandbox crowd will finally get the feast they have longed for with so many titles to choose from. Anyways, stinks about the pre-order limits I sure hope they move quickly to capitalize on their marginal success before it fades away in the glory of the next big thing.
Fame is fleeting especially post launch.
