SOE is the reason why DAOC, WoW and that kind of games exist, they were pioneers with EQ1 and created the 3D MMORPG style, along with AC (which miserably failed with AC2).
EQ2 is maybe the best fantasy MMORPG atm, with a lot of pioneer moves again like XP when u kill players (u can litterally level only by pvp'ing until high end levels, not lvl 20).
Furthermore, they were pioneer by creating the first MMOFPS with Planetside, which was a damn lot of fun as well, and as far as i know, nobody did it better so far (TR is not a FPS and is a failure)
NOW if u take SWG as ur ONLY example in your statement (which is actually totally poor of any example), then you are more than wrong mister. Lucas fubared this game even more than SOE, and both of them became nuts because of WoW. Before they screwed everything, SWG was super fun before they did the CU and the NGE, but SOE wasn't behind that more than Lucas was.
If u're a real fan of Star Wars, you should know that the biggest enemy of the SWU is M. Lucas himself, just see how big a joke is the "star wars charter" with the garbage books that are released (like rogue squadron and more), the HUGE piece of s that was episode 1, and barely watchable episode 2 and 3.
People should respect companies that worked to promote or create the MMORPG world. Even if Funcom is not doing so good with AoC, AO was a lot fo fun, SOE was created only around MMORPG and were pioneers, Lord british is to be respected as well, even if he didn't do much since UO, and Blizzard (and hell i hate WoW) made the general community aware of MMORPGS (which multiplicated the number of trolls & unknowledgable fanbois around, unfortnuately).

Game is awesome and better then any other but you have to play it to understand why,best shadows ever, huge world that's not empty that's awesome fun to explore BECAUSE YOU MIGHT FIND A TREASURE CHEST, A MONSTER OR AN EMPTY CAVE!, plus some other stuff that's ok that's not a huge grind or time sink, combat is not based on clicking LMB whilst managing stamina and drinking potions whilst running away, all the features I wanted are implemented and I'm happy with them, Monster AI is super advanced awesome not frustrating, goofy and easly exploited at all.
The game its UI, graphics, sounds and animation are only for old school veteran elite hardcore sandbox open PvP gamers, if you don't like it don't play it.

Want to know what's funny about that ? I could say EXACTLY the same about UO on the free shards, and guess what ? ITS FREE. So u wanna call urself hardcore cuz u praise Darkfall ? As i never and will never respect WoW for stealing whatever EQ1, AC and DAOC created, and do it for the mass people, i won't respect a wanna be company who just plunders everything that created UO to make it in their game.
And i don't even mention that Shadowbane had most of these features as well.
So, i hope it'll work, i hope it'll add a decent title in the quite poor commercial MMOs out there, but i defy any fanboy to call himself hardcore cuz he plays that game.
