This game is based far too much client side which means it will be easy to hack. There's nothing at this stage that they can do to change that, nor is there any 'foolproof' hack prevention system. Which means that it's going to be full of people cheating. If you like cheating, which personally takes all of the fun out of a game to me, then you will have fun for a while and get bored. If you refuse to cheat, like me, then you will get griefed constantly by hackers who will say that you are a carebear for not sinking to their juvenile level. Sorry, but it's pretty much an official failure.

Thats generally what most crackpots resort to saying lol. This is before they stockpile there Y2K survival kits with lots of water and can goods and head to the mountains.
They're past Y2K now, they're now onto the end of the Aztec(or Mayan?) calender in 2012. Duh.
Well I am not predicting the end of the world or anything likewise as catastophic. I am merely predicting the failure of a game that has been an underdog in the industry from the start. To be honest if this was Vegas the odds would be on my side.

lol.. shame your information is completely wrong.. the game is far from being based on client side, to quote a DF Developer
"We have designed the server in a way letting us insert cheat detection into every layer of the code, and are very aware of the fact that people will attempt to cheat. The basic idea simply is that the server decides what happens, and if the client and the server disagree, the server always wins. If you hack your client to e.g. move at twice the normal speed, it's your loss because the server will refuse to send information about the area you claim you are in, and in addition alert staff about susceptible behaviour.
The advantage of creating an online only game is that we can and should make all decisions on the server, and use the client more or less to display what the server tells it. External applications watching and analyzing the virtual world will be used to detect bugs, and the design permits us to add new detection code or bug fixes without interrupting the game. By strictly limiting what information is sent to the clients, adding e.g. a "transparent walls" hack to a client wont do anything for you, you will still not see anything behind that wall because the server decides this info isn't visible and thus shouldn't be available to you.
Regarding encryption, it is very well possible to encrypt and compress UDP data, and this will also be done using mechanisms that will make your common network sniffer rather useless. You can of course write your own sniffer that is able to decode the games network traffic, and we can of course decide to change the encryption algorithms and keys whenever we feel like, without interrupting the game play"

We now go live to a midget in a bikini. "Thanks Tom. In an astonishing twist of events, the die hard, "praise be to Tasos" fanbois that have defended this game for 6 years with every fiber in their body continue to do so, are absolutely in love with the game, say it is the best game they have ever played, and are already calling it a massive success! On the other side of the fence, the renown Trolls, known for their skeptical views, lack of faith, and ability to turn anything into something negative, hate the game! It is being called an "Empty shell", "complete trash", and has already been deemed a massive failure, calling it the next Dark and Light. I don't think anyone saw this coming. People that have been spouting the same point of view over and over again for 5+ years are continuing to say the same exact things, surprisingly not changing their viewpoint no matter what information, experience, or new knowledge they may have. Neither is admitting they were wrong, most likely too proud to acknowledge it. So who is correct? The obvious answer is no one. Trolls will be trolls, fanbois will be fanbois, and the only true judge can be yourself. Back to you Tom".

EVE online was an underdog once ... 'Expectations' never prevented indy developers from doing their thing though it seems people get nervous from everything that doesn't match the AAA-game mold.
I haven't played any of those so called AAA titles for over a month (at a time. It's actually been about 6 months since I've played any MMO at all.) because I thought they sucked too. The only game that I played for a significant amount of time was Asheron's Call, and I played Darktide, so I'll tell you I was very excited about Darkfall because it looked to be the true successor to AC, but it's failed. Sorry, maybe the next one will be better, but I have seen enough to know that DFO is not the game I had hoped it would be. I am not going to say that no one will like DFO, but I just want to point out the game's flaws to those who may be on the fence. As you can see I'm not here to argue or fight, I'm no troll, I'm just a realist.

there's a huge difference between how CCP handles its customers and how AV handles them.
One keeps their customers very much in the loop (tons of dev journals, posts and information), offering rock solid expansions and gameplay, with pretty good balancing.
The other sucks at communicating or being in touch with the public, and we will see how the game is handled on release and the first month.
I dont think being realistic = being a troll. So far the only thing we've seen from Adventurine is lies and delays. The amount of peoples (fanboys) who believe this game will actually have any kind of success is mind boggling really.
OP...Awsome thread lol
Aguitha...wow thanks for keep up the ignorant troll club because most of them seem to have disapeared after defeat.

you have really hit rock bottom on your trolling huh miagisan...just admit you have been wrong for all this time and move on to another forum.
AVenturine openly stated they wont have much in terms of PR pre-release...if you thought otherwise...well that i guess your ability to reason is right in line with your ability to read. Not their fault if you decided that they are suppose to have a huge pr campaign prelaunch.
The game releases tomorrow...then you are allowe to judge how they communicate with their customers and community. Based on how they communicated with the beta community during my time there...they will continue to do an AMAZING job.
What next from you? Aventurine is garbage because they are in greece? just keep it up, its good comedy.

What time does the server go live tomorrow?
It is odd, Imbant's fanboism rarely stooped to troll level before now...
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike Loved: Star Wars Galaxies Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

the difference is: the fanbois are playing the game, the trolls haven't, and are just shilling for their own pet MMO in their spare time.

I am not sure the number of subs will be a solid determiner of Darkfall's success. This was always meant to be a niche game. I wager that the sandbox PvP crowd will love this game. However I bet the WoW players may not. IN the end, Im guessing about 20-50K subscription base over the next year

lol.. shame your information is completely wrong.. the game is far from being based on client side, to quote a DF Developer

The other sucks at communicating or being in touch with the public, and we will see how the game is handled on release and the first month.
you have really hit rock bottom on your trolling huh miagisan...just admit you have been wrong for all this time and move on to another forum.
Aventurine is garbage because they are in greece? just keep it up, its good comedy.
your really have hit rockbottom with your fanboyism huh?
What time does the server go live tomorrow?
EVE online was an underdog once ...
'Expectations' never prevented indy developers from doing their thing though it seems people get nervous from everything that doesn't match the AAA-game mold.

It is odd, Imbant's fanboism rarely stooped to troll level before now...
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
He's a Troll Crawler.
the difference is: the fanbois are playing the game, the trolls haven't, and are just shilling for their own pet MMO in their spare time.
I lol'd IRL
I am not sure the number of subs will be a solid determiner of Darkfall's success. This was always meant to be a niche game. I wager that the sandbox PvP crowd will love this game. However I bet the WoW players may not. IN the end, Im guessing about 20-50K subscription base over the next year
MMORPG Characters immortalized!
LLyncu: Star Wars Galaxies (Chimaera)
