    Nah no money back.  And I bought it cuz it looked good at first, had I known about the lying to come I wouldn't have.  Not trying to save anyone either.  I just get worked up and annoyed that some people can't see through the obvious bullshit they are saying.  Makes me sick how some people can be so gullible and forgiving.  By the time I saw what was happening they had already brought down the preorder servers so no dice there.  Either way its not a big deal.  Would like a refund though.

    Let's assume for the moment that despite how stable the game may have been for all the beta testers.. that this game finally comes up and is a total mess.  Lag galore.  Massive bugs and problems.  For the first two or three days, lets imagine that the servers keep having to be shut down for extended amounts of time, and when it is up, people are getting booted off the server, lag makes the game unplayable, and nobody is having any fun what-so-ever.
    More then likely, Aventurine would not be willing to refund anyones credit card for the full purchase price. 
    So what would you do?  Call your bank or credit card company and dispute the charges?  Write it up as a loss?  Try and grief the piss out of Tasos on every website known to have anything related to him?
    I know that I would certainly be calling my credit card company and disputing the product for not being at all what was advertised and promised to me.
    What is everyones thoughts on this?  Because the longer this chaos goes on now and the servers remain unopened.. the more plausible I see something very similar to just what I described happening here.  I am beginning to think that all the doubters, skeptics, and even trolls may have been 100% right all along.  I hope I am wrong.
     



     

    Well this is launch day.  Been playing mmorpgs since UO was released back in 97 and.....I have never seen a launch go flawlessly.  Its par for the course and to be expected.  The game will launch.  It will have bugs.  There will be lag.  People will be kicked out of the server,  servers will be brought down for hotfixes that generate new bugs, etc., etc., etc.,  ad nauseum.

    This is nothing new.   Though people, many who should know better, seem to be scandalized that there has been a delay.  You can wait a few months till the bugs are ironed out and then buy it  or... you can be in from server birth.  That is entirely up to you.  However, to expect a flawless launch is just not realistic at least, not in my experience.   The thrill of being part of server birth means bugs, delays and downtime.  Thats just the way it is folks.

    ah ok well they are giving refundes back you prolly already know. this is exactly why im not buying mmo's at launch anymore. i can wait a couple weeks to a month so i can find out more about it before i make my purchase. who knows maybe it'll launch tomorrow and be fun. idk

    The Aventurine team has been no more secretive than any other developer. I swear some of you conspiracy trolls really are crazy. But actually I probably will still be here trolling the trolls, it's the most fun I've had in a while.



     

    And why shouldnt this be the most fun you have had in awhile, with Darkfall out of order this is about all the entertainment you can have. I know your all butthurt about it, but im sure there will be more failures in the future for you to dive in front of.

    I really am butthurt right now. Ever since Tasos pulled his hand out I feel so empty inside. I'm not sure about future failures though because I'm pretty dedicated to Tasos and all.

    I'm certain this has been said on this discussion already but i will say it as well:

    Buyer Beware.

    It's prudent to give online games a bit of time before rushing off to a pre-order or to the local gaming store to snatch up a copy and with games like Darkfall that have has some problems and bumps in the road it's better to be extra cautious.

    The PC gaming community has been plagued with the "ship now and fix later" mentality that some developers posess in abundance, as consumers we have to take what these developers say about the state of their games with a grain of salt.

    I'm not trying to point any fingers or trying to slam Darkfall or it's staff, that's not my style and i have been suckered in myself on the "must have it NOW!" purchase and, like you, have been disappointed...so now i follow this simple rule:

    People will buy no matter what, let them...in the meantime sit back, relax and watch..when the time is right and the bugs fixed and the patches start coming...buy.

    Can you please show me where to get a refund?  Because I went to the forums, mIRC, and the account management page and can't find anything.  I know I saw them letting people cancel preorders, but from what I hear, and I may be wrong, you have to do it on your account management page which is down.  Also, you needed to cancel it, iirc, BEFORE the 25th....

    I may be wrong about all that though, and if I am please instruct me how to fix it so that I may do so.

    i think what your supposed to do from what ive heard (and i could be wrong) is that you go to your account management page an clear out all of your credit card info. thats all ive heard so idk if its as easy as that. problem is is that i tried to get to the account management page but it was down . maybe since their having so many problems today that they'll still let you cancel idk. also if the forums are still up there might be something in there about canceling but i didnt think so. good luck tho

    He said Credit Card Company... NOT Bank.

    Credit Card Companies do have 24 hour service.  You should have a number to call - it should be with your contract.

    If only AV would have done an open beta and within it preform stresstests. They would have pinpointed many problems they are suffering now. also by doing so would have bought them more time to figure out their payment server thingy. They would have had time to slowly process each limited preorder.

    Many mmos have gone thru open beta and even if they had rocky starts those open betas probably avoided things like whats happening to darkfall

    I hate to mention it but Wow was a good example. In beta everything was smooth (i did beta test it) They did a few stress test runs before the open beta. just so see how far a server could handle. It was good the stress did manage to crash the server once , they learned from it and the 2nd stress they managed to avoid the crash.

    So wow came out but was Hit hard, yes wow did have a bugs on release but these bugs were things like getting stuck in the loot position, none of the bugs were gamecrashing. Either you like it or not they did fall victims to their own success. They failed to open enough servers for the amount of people joining the game. All their servers were overloaded. put on top of that most of the players ammasing in 1 area and pvp to hell causing server crashes left and right. They did stress tests but not of the magnitude of how many players flocked the servers. It took them a darn long time to recover. at 1st they didnt offer char xfers so even though new servers came out people refused to leave.

     

    anyhow back to darkfall. They WILL get their act strait. soon the servers will go up and people will be able to play. One thing i do not belive is there will be a server overload.they only sold enough accounts that they can handle. So they wont suffer anything like wow did. The only thing that can probably happen is if 2 huge guilds happen to go to 1 area and duke it out causing a server crash. However I see that as normal as even EVE has crashes (well the clusters we were in) when we battled the goons long before they became powerful. 650+ ships on one server cluster killed it, there was no way in or out.
