I created a character. Worked fine. Not enough options, but that's cool. Enter the world from one of three possible areas. I see two players around town. One is sitting, the other running around exploring it looks like. So I equip my only weapon, looks like a dagger. I head out of the town to try and find some quick action. I run. I run a huge circle. I see nothing. I take no damage from anything. Even from jumping from high on a cliff. You can climb mountains at ease. Almost as fast, if not as fast as if it were flat terrain. Kinda silly. But for Christ's sake! I see not one fucking monster of any kind running around in a giant circle around the outpost i started in. I took no damage from anything. I noticed that I could have chopped would or mined for stone. Great, I have no tools though. I might could have casted a spell while running, but no staff. No money to buy one. Nothing to fight to get stuff or money. Then the fucking game crashed, server down or whatever as I was headed back to town to look for players to maybe get some kindof action. Sheesh. Graphics are pretty damn good to be honest. Clipping is bad. World is too dark, but the shadows are nicely done. Smooth running, I had no lag at all. But god damn, I'm was so bored my first 20 minutes in the game, I'm going to bed. I will try tomorrow, but right now I am less then inspired. AV - Give us some shit to fight man. Nothing is fun about running for 20 minutes and not seeing one freaking mob! First reaction score - Graphics 8/10. Gameplay: 2/10 Fun factor: 1/10, Overall 2/10 I hope it gets better!
lol you fuckin noob you have to hunt the monsters they migrate from camp to camp

Falze you have obvious not play game near every starter area there is some goblins camps and they dont raom around only in small area around there small village.
But if he was new to the game have posible 20min to play it themn crash its not his fault he experience this.
Your reply l2p is even more nub and beyond stupid then his little review.
He is with most points right, but this info also could be gathered by reading some beta reviews and player feedback.
He is spot on only if you realy have seen the world its one best desinged and best looking worlds ive ever seen in mmo 9.5/10 for grafhics and design world.

DF has one of the worst communities in the history of gaming. You just need to read the Fanboys' posts for a few minutes to realise this. You can tell them apart by their overuse of phrases such as: "Carebear", "Go back to WoW" and "DF isn't for you".
Well, to be completely honest, Darkfall ISN'T for most mmo gamers. I wouldn't really classify it as an insult.
darfall is a game for people who aren't pussies
Ha-Ha, as Nelson would say. Hang on a minute, you really do think this don't you? You feel some sort of 'gangsta hardcore - I iz all dat -"funny hand gesture with Bo-yackasha sound effect" ' sensation.
pfffffffftttttt...
Playing a game that entales flicking a crocodiles testicles while dangling yours in it's mouth is a game "not for pussies". Darkfall, last I checked, is a computer game.
Heh, great post. Fanbois piss me off. Preorder page isn't ever working properly and they say that "it keeps quitters away" and "only dedicated players can get in". The game has any sort of problem and if people complain about it, they just say "go back to WoW noob".
I guess they added the launch problems on purpose since DFO is so hardcore and to keep us WoW noobs away
People are mistaken about the community because like most, the loudest are often the most annoying. The fact is, during my month of beta I met quite a few good respectful players. I started lone wolf knowing not a soul and some people did take advantage of my situation. Yet, as time moved on I joined a clan which was forming and everyone was mature and friendly. Ironically, the one individual I ran into who could be classified as a leet kid (because he was the only person i played with under 18) happened to steal from our clan bank, not knowing that officers have access to vault statistics and can see all player transfers. He was rapidly kicked from the clan and if he goes by the same name now in release, is going to have a hell of a time being KoS with a fair group of players.
Anyway, the point is, the community is acctually great and the clan to clan shit talking and postering is an important part of it. The game is competitive, far more competitive then your standard MMO, especially at the clan level.
As for mob density, it is acctually quite good. During beta, maybe 4000 people were logged in at a time. The noob goblin camps were always full but with a 15 minute running radius I'd say players/groups only covered 1 out of every 2 possible camps. If you went further our, around the clan cities the ratio was closer to 1:6 or more. Never were all camps around taken and most times the one you went to was open, which sometimes made PvP in the immidiate area difficult. This is bound to change as the player numbers increase. The complaining noobs just don't understand that you have to devote time to exploring to find good camping spots because beta testers and clans aren't gonna post the locations for obvious, self interested reasons. In the end considering the PvP nature of this game I would say there are plenty of spawns for players. Additional roaming wildlife (although not tons) would be a good addon though for solo players and tailors.
Yeah cos its totally realistic for a band of gobbos to permanently set up camp right outside the front gates of a hostile city
When someone starts using "realism" in defence of a game they should just shut up because they already lost the argument. Like it's "realistic" to get killed and be able to come back to life?
Gameplay/Fun should be always greater than realism, the minute it is not the game has serious problems
To OP, 20 mins is not enough to judge any game, but will also say any game where you can run around for 20 mins anywhere and not see something to fight has serious issues, the issue in this case seems to be the "reduced spawn during beta for debugging" is actually what many of us predicted, exactly what people would get at live.
Oh well at least it will be good for PvP kiddies (many can be seen on this thread, attacking every single person who finds any fault (valid or not) in the game by insulting people), 50 people killing each other for the right to kill one mob, Fun heh?
Pity that unless things change fast the game will fail utterly as it would be nice to have all these types in one game instead of messing up communities in others
PS: "PvP Kiddies" refer's to the type of pvper who is compensating for lack of standing in real life by being an internet warrior (in game and out), not those of us who just enjoy fighting each other for the challenge
I need a new MMO world to call home as Tom Chilton keeps destroying them
Do you have ANY idea why there aren't mobs every 10ft like in most MMO's? Well?
MAYBE.... Just MAYBE, because they'd interfere with PvP battles, like, the most advertised feature of the game?
I was a beta tester. I though the same thing at first. "Why no mobs?" Right now, I know how to find mobs really easily, if I want to. I know mob spawn places, and I know where to look for them.
The mobs have huge aggro range, not a set in stone radius that gets smaller when you level up like in most MMO's. So, if there would be mobs EVERYWHERE, you'd curse them too hell after you'd tried to PvP. The battles often tend to be pretty wide area fights, so no... it just wouldn't work with mobs everywhere.
I understand your concern though, my post is just to say that you're wrong, but you should learn from it. The start in Darkfall is rough, but when you have a few backup armors and weapons in your bank, and you start to get into the game, it's the best, esspecially when played with friends

Noone is forcing you to play.
Just stop playing.
So has it come to this?
First it was "you can't judge a game from a few screenshots and crappy youtube vids"
then it was "unless you play the game you can't have an opinion about it"
and now that somebody has done all of the above and more, it's this
Hey, I was in beta the last week or two before launch and I just have a few comments.
The world is honestly too empty. A clan mate and I started in Mercia and ran all the way to Mirendil while only encounting the Red Dragon, some weird floating jelly fish and some brownies. The treck cross continent should definitely be much harder to make. Along the way we found several ruins, castles, towns, buildings, etc. that were all empty. This is probably the biggest problem I have with the game.
Although for the people who aren't having fun, it's either your game or it isn't. The last day of beta, we had a massive PvP raid on a clan city which alone would have been enough for me to buy the game. Every day I was in beta, we always had some type of PvP thing going on, or some grouping up for dungeons. The game has a lot to offer, but it's up to you to find it.
So far, I can honestly say that Darkfall might be the most fun MMO I've played. I still haven't had any reason to grind (except for now. We need gold to create our clan). I grabbed my gear, picked a direction, and explored. The adventure pretty much writes itself from there.
Also, you may only see goblins around there starter area, but there's TONS of NPCs out there. Although we've already been attacked by the dragon on 2 separate occasions, so watch your back in Mercia!
Had to register just to rebuke some of the utter BS that the DF fanbois are throwing around in this thread.
I was in DF beta for nearly a month before release and i can confirm that despite what the fanbois will try to tell you the following is true.
AI is NOT anywhere near as advanced as Q3 bots, not even close - Unless of course you call reaching a certain level of hits then running around in circles like a spastic good AI in which case you have a very low quality threshold. The mobs are buggy, retarded and at best annoying NOT challenging to fight. A semic competent group of players can farm mobs all day even high end ones by exploiting the numerous flaws and problems in the games AI coding. During beta the best clans all had uber gear in a matter of days from farming mobs, the only way they make them challenging is by giving them crap loads of hits. In my 3 weeks of play i died exactly 3 times to mobs and two of those times was cause i couldnt be bothered to run away behind a rock, a tactic which 99 times out of 100 will utterly outfox the AI.
The AI does not migrate, form together in camps, fight each other, loot you, level up or any other of the fantastical claims Aventurine makes, in fact its some of the most crappy and dull PVE i have ever experienced.
The world is empty and often feels like a big tech demo for the admittedly well designed map. Outside of PVP there is literally nothing to do except macro skills and craft both of which are more boring than mining in EVE.
The PVP does not save the day either, its a big sprinting left mouse button spam fest which requires the simple skils of kiting around in circles mashing your mouse buttons while chugging stamina pots... its boring.
How Aventurine have managed to sell what is essentially a very solid late alpha/early beta digital download for €50 is frankly amazing, and well as long as there are fools willing to part with their cash good luck to them.

It's sandbox game, if you bought and didn't understand what the game is about I am sorry for you - there is no quick 'fix' in the game, it's not WoW.
