Advice on purchasing DF, from a beta tester:

We begged the game to be delayed, as there were countless problems (all of which could be fixed with small value changes... but were gigantic problems nonetheless that resulted from the devs lacking all forms of common sense), but they didn't since they apparently ran out of money.

If you guys buy this game, you will be paying for a closed beta test, no doubt about it. But the reason for why it may be worth it to buy it, is because you will have an advantage for when the game starts to shape up into a serious mmo in the months ahead (i would say this will take 2 months if the devs haul @ss, realistically 6 months though).

The potential and foundation for the best game ever are here, its just that this game lacks balance (in every sense of the word, its foolish to be a magic mainer, its foolish to be a 1h weapon mainer, its foolish to be a gatherer that doesn't macro, its foolish to be a crafter that doesn't macro, its foolish not to spam pots, etc. etc. ), and any form of variety (everyone currently is a clone of each other because there are only a small number of skills, and an even smaller number of viable skills)

IF you did buy the game now, what could you actually have fun doing? Solo play (pvp not pve) is one thing that comes to mind, and its definately possilbe in DF and implimented in a really cool way (you can hide in bushes, move silently, and completely fall off the radar). Another is clan warfare, my only qualm with it right now is that its a grind because it requires a lot of crafting (which is one of the most poorly implimented features in the game), to get potions, to get the stuff needed to make buildings, to make buildings (which have a high failure rate), etc.

Not foolish to be a "magic mainer" have you tested some of the higher level spells? Not foolish to be a "1h mainer" have you used a shield with a high level of block/parry? You cannot be beaten in a 1v1. You cannot spam pots, CD. No classes, just no.

So could you give some examples as to how the game is not ready? Other than the ones I debunked? I think it should have been delayed not because the game wasnt ready, but so they could get release ironed out more......but I guess they needed the money to continue.

Oh and its a MMO, there will be a "grind" , as there has to be a way to advance your character.

bah its foolish to use a 1h weapon, b/c you can block with your shield for formations or what not, and quickly switch to your 2h weapon to attack.(completely useless in 1v1 unless you have 40 ping or are trying to make your opponent lose more stamina than you, and when you are blocking for a long period of time to ebb away at your opponents stamina... you can just switch to your 2h weapon when you're ready to attack)

And sure some of the higher level spells are VERY cool and useful, but they are NOT EVEN CLOSE to the cost it takes to get them (thousands of reagents, hundreds of grind hours, now lets compare this to archery and melee...)

The lowest level air spell hits for 40, AT THE LOWEST LEVEL! And using a rank 20 1h on a mount with 27 skill I did 28ish dmg. And no shield is not useless in 1v1, it is impossible to beat someone who is good at blocking, as you will run out of stam and then they will kill you.

You forgot to post why it should be delayed 6 months!

I miss darkfall forums, mmorpg.com's are non-stop monitored, peoples threads are deleted oftenly and posts are edited. No freedom of speech creates a negative environment. Whats there deal?

actually in the DF forums you got banned, even from beta, like me and many others, if you had a negative opinion on the game.

Haha bullshit. People posted vehement CONSTRUCTIVE critisism about the game all the time and never got banned. People that spammed "the game sucks!111!1" and said DELAY 6 months (but gave no reasons, kinda like this thread) got banned(like > 5 ppl? lol?)

I suppose I could see that, doubt they have the staff for it anymore though. Sometimes I wondered where the obvious negatives in the game were hiding... and unspoken of. For a while the news stream was purely positive. I personally cant wait to play, and will stick it so I can play it for a while, but really think AV should have taken their idea, make a more realistic version and created that... then built it up to where they wanted it. I didnt even know most of the skills/spells arent even implemented, etc. Can Mahrin even run on all fours yet?
