The sad state of darkfall's billing/account system

They should have just accepted Paypal as an option of payment.

Plenty of people use Paypal and it's a billing system that's built to handle lots of traffic.

Better yet, they should have released the game with STEAM or Direct2Drive.

I'm sure it would cut into their profits some, but at least they would look more professional using a proven method. They have enough to worry about fixing bugs in game and are understaffed as is, they should be focusing on the game servers NOT the billing system.  The most important thing is to provide their player base with as smooth a transaction as possible.

They have great ideas for this game, but have made some very poor decisions. I want to see them do well, but they need to get their act together and do it soon.  None of us want to be stuck playing WoW, we all want something fun and fresh to play. So far Darkfall has been a bunch of empty promises full of bonehead decision making.

The last thing that they want to be remembered as is "Darkfail Offline", which thus far has been the case.

Wow, I get an opportunity to "correct" my information and wait another day to play?  Yay!

Strangely enough, they managed to charge both of my pre-order accounts the initial fee just fine....apparently it was complete enough for that........... idiots.

Yes, when you take an order you can instantly verify it because you are running a charge. Aventurine is storing billing information first, and running the charge later.

Wow, so there is even MORE reason to be concerned! They are storing the CC information somewhere. Great, let's just make it easier for people's important info to get stolen. Considering how well "launch" has gone and all of the billing/admin stuff has gone, I would be majorly concerned that AV has a database of this info.

And I am sorry, the way you describe it (if true), makes them look even more incompetent.

    and the surprise comes...where again?

That WOULD NOT fly here due to audits! Two words for ya:

    PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance

    and

    DSS (Data Security Standard)

at which they FAIL to pass! im SOOO glad i told my friends to stay away from DF!

talk about identity theft!, or worse selling your personal information to spam organizations in order to get more revenue from their failed product!
