Leaving the servers online allows them to troubleshoot the issues and run memory dumps, etc. Something they obviously can't reproduce in the test lab or they would have already fixed it
Tasos and all the fanbo......fans have told us for years the game was ready. It was the best tested game! Could handle 10k users per server easily! That it will WTFPWN everything else that is out there!

Often described as "beta". Which, of course, is often confused by game developers for "live". Oops.
The game is unplayable. The synchronization is so bad that you cannot see what you are fighting.
Remember when Tasos said "we are testing our server stability using bots" and players laughed?
Remember when Tasos failed to have a stress test?
Remember when Tasos failed to allow enough beta testers in the game to even remotely test 'live server' status?
This company has absolutely no clue how to set up a MMORPG or how to manage one. At every step they make HUGE mistakes and fans say "well when we get past this, things should be fine". Listen up... Yes, in a few weeks they 'may' get past this, but then it will be another gamebreaking issue will reveal itself that devs failed to address. My guess it will be hacks. RIght now, the people who wrote hacks in beta can't even use them because the servers are down so much. Wait until they finally get the server playable in a few weeks.. then you will have to deal with months of every other player using speed and duping hacks and well before they fix the hacks, the whole 'player owned city' feature is in shambles because hackers will own all the spots and have built up their cities.
It's a stress test no more no less. They need to stress test the servers then beta test the game with a lot of beta testers. They're doing the same thing than the other cies.
Pb: AV forgot to stress test and beta test BEFORE the release. Maybe they're so unprofessional they thought they could launch the game with few beta testers. (Fanboys are the worst beta testers a Cy can have: for a FB a game is always perfect and a bug a "refreshing feature")
The worst is coming because there's only preorders on line...
You paid , so you have now a choice between
- stop the game
- stress test the game even if you payed for play
(This is not a beta test : you're not beta testing the game but stress testing servers : account and login servers: it's a real " and perfect " stress test)
Good luck.
Next step: beta test the game then beta test the end game (HL pvp)
sadly, this is the first time they are testing the servers at full capacity.
I was about to say. The problems we're all experience have less to do with actual gameplay and more to do with their horrible decision to forego a real server stress test.
Oh, it didn't matter that the testers went on and on about stress testing and pushing back release. Now we're all in this horrible mess. Hopefully things get patched up fast enough before irrepairable damage is done to the hopes that this game will live to last its first six months.
The game was definitely fun in Beta - then again, we didn't have problems just getting in to the scale at which we're seeing now. Guess we would have if, you know, they'd stressed the servers...
Looks like their professional testers were not very good after all.
Professional testers? Paid by cheapo Aventurine who offered 700euro per month for a 3D designer (thats real guys)? Professional game testers? In Greece? Where no game industry exists?
Can I say "I told you so" that Darkfall was a piece of trash? I will wait a little longer....
The game itself is not a piece of trash... the servers on the other hand...
This is why they should have stress tested before release. My only guess to why they didn't was because they were completely out of funds. However, there are still people who say they have no lag, so who knows.

Give us a break Tasos.
Can we just stop with all these flame posts please? Haters can go die, Darkfall is perfect.
