According to betawatcher, more WoW beta accounts will be sent out today.
With my luck I'll miss the WoW beta because I made it into that shathole of a game, EQ2. Now it may not be a bad game, but it is laggy to the point to where it took me like half an hour to get off the boat (assume I'm not just some newbie wandering the boat).

Two things over the past week are bugging me about Blizzard.
The first is the tornado. I don't mind that the servers came down due to a natural disaster type event. That is something nobody can control and could hit servers anywhere. However, this is the part that bugs me...
Posted on the wow server status section of the boards:
Blizzard network engineers are currently testing server hardware for any indications of damage. We hope to have a thorough test completed within the next 24 hours and by then provide a more extensive update of when we can bring the servers back online. Initial reports indicate that all vital data is still intact, meaning players should be able to pick up where they left off.
So there was a possibility if the storm were a little more powerful that there would have been an enormous character/item wipe? I am not in the IT field but big game companies like this don't, umm, back up data? I hope they learned a valuable lesson from this and do some of the basics for maintaining data integrity from here forward. Had this happened 4 months after release and been a little worse, what do you tell half a million people when their characters and items are gone LOL?
The second thing is the beta invites...
Word is that a good 70 percent of the invites they sent out were to people who got into the beta the first time around. As any good red blooded capitalistic American would do these people aren't emailing back, "Hey I am already in!" they are posting the second account on Ebay.
Anyway, not a good week for Bliz or for my confidence in them.
Welll, Yes They do, and Everyone backs up their data and information... But the thing is... The backups aren't backups incase of natural disaster... They are backups incase of server fault or a virus or corrupt data... blah blah blah... The thing about corporate backups... They back them up on machines and media that are stored in the SAME building... It would be stupid and a waste of time to have back up machines very far away... like in a different state.... Because 1) It will take bandwidth to SEND the data.... and alot of bandwidth at that... and over an extended period of time depending on the backup method..... 2) what happens when they want to retrieve the data and process it... Its gonna take longer again... and 3) maintanance would be more pricey because they would need a building and minimal workers over there to take care of the back up systems... and THEN what happens when there is a tornado over there...
So people at most reserve a seperate room on maybe a different floor for backups......

I'm starting to think Hotmail sucks.
I've signed up for a free forum and Hotmail wouldn't allow the webpage to send me an e-mail... I redirected it to Yahoo and it worked within seconds.

/sigh hope you don't get into WoW beta simply because you clearly like to break the NDA you sign.
I think blizzard and any other company would be happy not to have you.

Sadly you can't vet people who apply to beta.
Its always a sad reality that people who can become good beta testers hardly get into a game. While those all looking for free sample like the original poster gets in
Tinybina, since you're the first person to reply with 4 or more stars here, I'll give you the opportunity to use the account. Send me an AIM message around noon CST to Tyveil (about an hour and a half) - sorry I'm at work now and don't have the email. Or, if you really want to, post your email and I'll forward you the beta invite.
By the way, I'm not even sure if I kept the email so don't get your hopes up too high. But if I do have it, it's yours.

And they said to not worry much about your rating!!!!! ARGH! LOL
I could have a huge rating if I wanted, I could just spam the boards to no end... but whatever.
anyhow I have been here for over a year so ARrrrr walk the plank.

Tiny, I think you can send a message to my mmorpg acct. I'll check my inbox there too. Or just PM me later.
Days of spamming for rating has long gone. There is thread on how ratings now work somewhere.
I know this for sure because when i was away for nearly a month with zero posts or log in i came back and only dropped from 5 to 4.
Done.... Later man, my fingers are crossed

Sorry guys for getting hopes up. I clean out my inbox like once every 2 months and it just so happens that I cleaned it out not more than a few days after I got the beta invite, so it's gone I'm surprised I didn't put it in my Important folder. It's not like me to just trash email of such importance. I apologize... good luck getting in still though, I'm proof they are still inviting more people gradually over time.

That's nothing! I just called my job today looking for my last pay check... only to find out they sent it to me, but I threw that mail away because it was no concern to me...
So I called them saying it was a foolish mistake and they shouldn't have sent my check like that... so I'm getting another... *phew*
I'm stupid some times. So to delete an e-mail is nothing.
What will he do next?
I am not sure the amount of backups nor the reliability they are depending on since it is closed beta and a wipe shouldn't mean anything. The invites have been mediocre at best. It is a personal whine since almost every other beta game so far I have been able to get my foot in the door except for WoW
