As you all can see i'm a big fanboy of DF, but I'm not an idiot.
I like the game (I really enjoy it actualy) since I have played beta for months, so I know how the game is like when the sync issues are dealt with. ATM there's no other game where you can do everything and still have excitement doing it, only perhaps playing AC Darktide or Shadowbane but those are old.
1) What made me /facepalm was the decision to turn off the stratics IRC server and the forums....we all know they did it to get away from whining/criticisms.....What does this do, make people come to mmorpg.com forums and ask how to fix things, and complain....ON THE BIGGEST FORUM for this genre.......that's like airing your dirty laundry in the freaking courthouse.
2) The "you entered wrong information" is probably true, alot of idiots probably messed up something.....but dont say that man.....even the idiot customer is always right, he is the customer......apologise about "certain errors that were made" and promise to fix it asap; thats how its done....
3) Keep talking to the playerbase, but NOOO, close everything out and look the other way. You could of set up a live cam in the offices and stream it on justin.tv or something for free. Just this little thing would make people more accepting of the situation seeing people working 24 hours, sleeping in their chairs trying to make the game experience better. It is a huge + compared to seeing absolutely nothing.
4) the Preorders should of been ONLY for betatesters. You have NO IDEEA how many of us didnt get to preorder, the ones who knew the game and its twirks....now I see people on here whining about 3rd person camera option and other features that should of been known by anyone who pre-ordered. Now here I am, knowledgeable about the game and loving it with all the issues, while that dude Bacon something is whining about features even tho he preordered.
there's so much more I could babble about....damn....customer service....I trully believe AV is a good dev team.....but absolutely no ideea of customer service
I hope this is the lowest the game will be, and the experience will only get better. Ive never trolled another game and besides the little "go back to wow (a game I think is good btw, just not me)" Ive never badmouthed one.
But the pure trolling this game gets is not warranted...really its not. If it trully sucked like Mourning or DNL that would be different perhaps, but it is a good game

If the betatesters should of been the ones to buy it? yes, since it was not ready I would of supported it with 50 bucks no problem.
once everything would of been stabilised (sync issues, billing) then open up for those that havent tried the game, so THEY have a better experience...because i know how fickle most players are
Whereas I do feel sorry for you, the big problem with what you write is none of it is new.
Aventurine have always sucked talking to there audience, have tended to shut any criticism and have reversed decisions about everything in this game. From gameplay, billing, ordering etc; Likewise decisions and explanations have rarely been logical and appeared more as excuses than anything else. Missed deadlines, lists of features etc; All generated the stupidity of both "fanbois" and "trolls". Nothing has been managed well.
As for trolling. I believe what you just wrote would be considered as being a "troll" by the most hardened fanbois who have been stiffling any questions / criticism. These people are oddly absent today.
Once again I feel sorry for you I really do. But this launch was never going to go well in the eyes of many people that have followed this game for the past few months. The problem with being so close and passionate about something is that you can be so close as to be out of focus.
Well, true. Though they said the IRC went down because Stratics requested to shut it down because of the load, and this happened after the forums. If the only line of complaint is through the forums, and they go down, where would they go?
I was here at the AoC launch, and believe me, 10x worse.
I myself have not played this game yet, and I have not followed it at all, almost, I am not a fanboy. So please, refrain from calling me that.
The difference is, in beta all the fanboys said it was alright for them to be incompetent in certain area's however now its released they dont have beta to hide under.

The Beta Testers need to accept some responsibility for the current state of the game (not all - but if there are issues in game the Beta Testers SHOULD have pointed these out - if they didn't because they were to absorbed with just playing {or in some cases sucking up to Aventurine} then it's only fair they should wear it now)
Beta Testers should have some idea of how fast Aventurine is likely to fix issues. If it is as fast as some have been claiming then they should not be concerned at all.

Ive pointed on many occasions out how they fix and whats state of the game but many just dont listend even devs are ignoring the community:(

well im agree with you but '' Forums have been down due to large volume, almost double our highest traffic to date, people weren’t able to access them. We brought them down in order to be able to post communications so you would know what was going on. MMORPG.com was kind enough to post our first announcement but we need to be able to communicate through the official Darkfall community. Darkfall IRC was causing the Stratics network problems with its volume and it was also temporarily shut down at Stratics request. ''

And that has always been the biggest issue with Aventurine, not the game itself.
People like the OP try to suggest that Darkfall is a good game and that we should not judge the game based on the company. That might work for a single player game, not a MMORPG.
Running a MMORPG is an ongoing monthly service and that means you need more than just people who can make up new game mechanics and systems. There needs to be a company with manangement that can effectively run a business.
Watching the three-ring circus that has been Aventurine over the years there's been little to show they are comptent businessmen or that they know how to interact with the community/customers effectively. We'll have to see if they can learn.

If it is not ready for release, don't release it and for the love of god don't ask the beta testers to pay for the privaledge of beta testing it further...

Only allow pre-orders to beta testers? The main reason this game is in the shitter is either beta testers have spent their time fucking around making videos rather than actually testing and reporting the issues or Aventurine have ignored all the feedback and released something many people are finding unplayable. Either way, the beta process has obviously come up short.
Many recent releases have suffered from a large number of beta "testers" using their access privaledges to play for free, gain a jump-start on everyone else come release and generally abuse the privaledge they have been given and are not doing what they signed-up to do. It seems very likely that this beta has been much the same.
Honestly, this might be the first game I have ever come across where beta testers are more vilified than revered.

I would disagree with them communitcating and implementing patches in record time. Most of the Beta patches were small changes here and there, and the activation of disabled content. I've been in betas where they regularly patched twice a day. They still have not been tested in the communication with their fanbase, and implemating new content based on the communities feedback. It's quite a bit easier to communicate with a very small portion of the population, and make small changes here and there (as in Beta). Seeing how they handle things in the next few months will show how on the ball they actually are. It's WAY too early to say if they're any better then ANY other mmo publisher (except maybe the Mourning and DnL devs).
So far, they haven't made the best first impression to those that hadn't had a chance to test out the Beta. I don't think DF is a bad game, but Aventurine can easily run thier game in the ground depending on how they handle things in the upcomming months.
out of ALL the stupid things they've done (and HAVEN'T done), i think this issue of not letting beta testers get the first crack at the limited opening day slots was THE DUMBEST.
they angered many fans, many "very loyal" ones, and
they let in a bunch of people who aren't gonna be ANYWHERE NEAR as tolerant of all the numerous problems. much of which will be TOTAL SURPRISES to them. there are ALOT of problems that Darkfall has that i've shockingly never heard anybody complain about or address, many of them very basic things you would think are very easy to fix, such as hair and skin color sliders having no effect on your in-game character.
therefore, they guaranteed themselves lots bad press from the first batch of people AND the loyal fans, and risk turning away alot of people who are on the fence about DF.
add all that to the other launch problems and i think its officially a disaster, and many will consider it the worst MMO launch of all time.
now i don't think it will come even CLOSE to killing the game. i think it COULD have if it was just another typical MMORPG, but they get practically a free pass from all the people who are deathly sick of typical MMORPGs, because they have nowhere else to turn. THAT's what makes the terrible launch not much of a factor in their longterm success IMO.

Update 2.55AM GMT
We’re bringing servers down to apply our first patch. This will also contain fixes to most of the issues that players have been facing. Servers should be back up as soon as the patch is verified and tested.
Update 5.49pm GMT
After addressing a couple of early issues the servers have been running very stable for several hours and we have a large number of players in-game right now.
It’s normal to expect more issues to surface in the next couple of days. We postponed our scheduled maintenance of 10am GMT for later until we can gather some more data and address anything that comes up in a patch later tonight.
We’re aware that some areas are experiencing sync issues for some players. This is a high priority issue that we are working to address as soon as possible. We know the cause for it so it shouldn’t take very long. We will keep the servers up while this is being fixed and we will bring them down for a patch later tonight. For now, players can move away from starting areas to improve their experience.
We have processed the problematic accounts that were never charged but received a successful pre-order notification. Only a small percentage of these were successful and we found out that this is because most of them contain incomplete or incorrect account information. We will try this one last time again tomorrow morning European time, and we’ll open up account management later tonight for these accounts to be able to correct their account data and credit information before we reprocess them. If anyone does not want the pre-order to be processed, they should remove their credit card information from their account. After this is concluded we should be able to open up sales for more Darkfall copies.

Actually I frankly could care less about thier dirty laundry, and why classify it as so? The game launched? RIGHT? This has been asserted by the fanboys here. RIGHT? So the state of the game was public knowledge. Whats boggling is that YOU HAD TO COME HERE ASKING FOR HELP!. Thats the faceslap right there.

I had to log in and say that you pretty much nailed it, I agree with everything you said.
I think Adventurine really messed up their Launch, and to make matters worse, they close the forums. Hopefully, they will recover and it won't be as dismal as Vanguard was in the beginning. Just my opinion...
