WHAT? So if I am going to purchase something not from the US, I must call my bank first and authorize it? So then there are no reason that the orders from Amazon UK should have gone through? Seriously, something doesn't quite make sense to me about that statement....

Actually, he is probably quite correct.

Many banks and CC companies now actively check CC transactions for signs of Fraud and or Stolen CC accounts.

What they do is look for 'unusual activity'.

So,  if you have had your CC for a while and only ever used it at your local supermarket and K-Mart then they suddenly see a couple of big  purchases in Thailand ...they will most likely stop payment automatically.

At that point you should get a phone call asking what is going on or to check and see if you are on holiday.

(they may also check to see if you purchased Airline Tickets on your CC)

Some banks are more active than others.  I had a purchase queried in this way a couple of years ago.

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

I called my credit card company to make a note to authorize any payments in euros tomorrow to either Aventurine, or Darkfall Online.

I suggest everyone else do the same.

It varies depending on your bank really.  I had my Debit card work outside the country before, but had to get it authorized when I was in the UK.  A few friends had this issue with EVE, filed a petition, got informed of this, called their bank, transaction allowed, problem solved.

Well, in DF's case it's one problem solved.
