Fact is how can you even come off defending this company? They screwed up horribly and can't admit it. They need to just give people the real information about what is going on. But instead they have Brannoc make some very vague posts in mIRC and have shutr down every other form of contact with them. Even their support system gives generic auto-replies. They are trying to cover up all their lies. They contradict themself with each update they do give. First the billing was messed and and for whatever reason that was keepign servers from launching, but that the game was and has been ready. Ok, whatever, now next update says huge bug found so we won't release, but I thought it was ready to go? This is just one tiny example of what has been going on past several days.
And I don't know where you think everyone is able to cancel their preorders as the entire account management has been down for days, and only recently came back up with no option to do it since its past the 25th. They need to offer a refund for people, but they won't. They are desperate for money, and will abuse peoples trust to get it. From noon on the 24th to evening on the 25th no one could get into the account management page to cancel their order. This isn't just a little shady? Offering preorders then taking the site down where you can do it is a very fucked up thing to do. Some of you fanbois are just too blind to see that at the momemt. You guys will eventually come out of your DF induced coma at one point and realize what is really going on.
You fanboyism isn't shielded by the fact that you can put a complex idea together and come up with creative ways to put others down who are askign legitimate questions. I agree and want to add that if the the people complaining were to complain about what their governments are doing to them as much as they do about this game the world would be a much better place.

It's because of posts like this, that this type of 'release' is excused and tolerated.
There is NOTHING acceptable about any of this soap opera. These games should be independantly tested before they ever see the light of day, and the company involved is allowed to get anywhere near CC details.
Server stress tests should be mandatory as part of this procedure, as well as all the relevant support structures that involve customer accounts.
I would be ashamed to have posted anything similar to what you just did. The days of hoodwinking the public should be a thing of the past. Unfortunately, it is very much part of the present day. This garbage needs stamping out - quickly.

Although I wouldnt quite call them "slaves to socialism," just because the wall fell, doesnt mean attitudes towards business in Europe are nearly as competitive or cut throat as they are in the US.

This is the mentality that allows companies to get away with releasing an unfinished product. While I do understand who you are aiming this post at, the concepts you are preaching are part of the problem for the mmo genre.
We as customers should not lower out expectations just because this is an mmo. Would you accept this type of service in any other area of your life? If not, then why should it be acceptable here? I don't think anyone expects perfections, but a little business professionalism isn't to much to ask for in return from a company that has taken your money.
You have been around 14 years (strange number, but oh well), so you should know that this is the type of conduct that is killing mmos. If other companies can release smooth launches there is no excuse for this company to not meet that basic element. I highly suspect aventurine knew exactly what would happen if they did a full scale release and that is why they opted for what is amounting to a pay to beta program. They needed money, but realized that a full scale launch would kill the games future just as it had done with so many other games.
We all know this game hasn't been properly tested, let alone stress testing on this level. Yet here they are asking for money in the guise of some half baked release and you want to tell people this is how things should be? Be quiet and accept this?
Forgive me if I overlook your pearls of wisdom from so many years of gaming experience and expect more from a company than silence or excuses to situations they knowingly entered.

Being a indie company does not mean that they are new and should be pardoned because theya re a small team compared to the rest. NO being a indie company means that you are a self sufficient company that can manage every fourm of buissnes that your into on your own without depending on Publishers ect.

Learn from Paragus I highly respect him and it was his review i took seriously because it was well though. I do plan on playing this game, but not now in its current state. I do belive AV will set things right. They did BIG mistakes and will learn from them. Saying they didnt do mistakes or that they should be cut some slack will only make this game worse.
Infact the beta did prove than fans spent more time doing other things than informing AV of the real problem this game had, some have even exploited mobs that do not attack back and it seems they did a good job not informing av of these bugged mobs ect.

When has there ever been a 'finished' MMO on release? Anyone who has been there on the launch days of any long awaited, new MMO isn't surprised by 'unexpected' downtime.
I don't think anyone expects an MMO to have all of it's content and all bugs fixed at launch, but it should at least be playable. If not, then it was obviously rushed out the door with insufficient testing, and that's really inexcusable.

There is NOTHING acceptable about any of this soap opera. These games should be independantly tested before they ever see the light of day, and the company involved is allowed to get anywhere near CC details.
Server stress tests should be mandatory as part of this procedure, as well as all the relevant support structures that involve customer accounts.

Although I wouldnt quite call them "slaves to socialism," just because the wall fell, doesnt mean attitudes towards business in Europe are nearly as competitive or cut throat as they are in the US.
The fact of the matter is, cut throat (or otherwise) competition is not a factor in many businesses in Europe, thus breeding a lax attitude towards a company's customer base.

This is the mentality that allows companies to get away with releasing an unfinished product. While I do understand who you are aiming this post at, the concepts you are preaching are part of the problem for the mmo genre.
We as customers should not lower out expectations just because this is an mmo. Would you accept this type of service in any other area of your life? If not, then why should it be acceptable here? I don't think anyone expects perfections, but a little business professionalism isn't to much to ask for in return from a company that has taken your money.
You have been around 14 years (strange number, but oh well), so you should know that this is the type of conduct that is killing mmos. If other companies can release smooth launches there is no excuse for this company to not meet that basic element. I highly suspect aventurine knew exactly what would happen if they did a full scale release and that is why they opted for what is amounting to a pay to beta program. They needed money, but realized that a full scale launch would kill the games future just as it had done with so many other games.
We all know this game hasn't been properly tested, let alone stress testing on this level. Yet here they are asking for money in the guise of some half baked release and you want to tell people this is how things should be? Be quiet and accept this?
Forgive me if I overlook your pearls of wisdom from so many years of gaming experience and expect more from a company than silence or excuses to situations they knowingly entered.

Anyone who has been there on the launch days of any long awaited, new MMO isn't surprised by 'unexpected' downtime.
You have to realize that "grownup" fanboi's usually take days off from work so they can enjoy launch and get a head start. But when this supposed launch is failed they just wasted some off days from work that coulda been bringing in some money.

I myself love the whole CONCEPT of Darkfall. Yes we do need game like this, however we do not need to lower our expectations for what was shown to us. If AV wants money they need to throw out a quality product. Not of mess of awsome ideas.
Being a indie company does not mean that they are new and should be pardoned because theya re a small team compared to the rest. NO being a indie company means that you are a self sufficient company that can manage every fourm of buissnes that your into on your own without depending on Publishers ect.
Yet the truth is Darkfall is not going anywhere its here to stay, there will be a playerbase, the game will live on.

Learn from Paragus I highly respect him and it was his review i took seriously because it was well though. I do plan on playing this game, but not now in its current state. I do belive AV will set things right. They did BIG mistakes and will learn from them. Saying they didnt do mistakes or that they should be cut some slack will only make this game worse.
Infact the beta did prove than fans spent more time doing other things than informing AV of the real problem this game had, some have even exploited mobs that do not attack back and it seems they did a good job not informing av of these bugged mobs ect.
Accept that the game is not perfect. It doesnt mean its bad, your enjoying the game for the concepts it brings that attracted you to the game in the 1st place.
There will be people who will play this game and not like it. Just like many of you who do not like games like wow dispite that that said game has a huge player base.

I don't think anyone expects an MMO to have all of it's content and all bugs fixed at launch, but it should at least be playable. If not, then it was obviously rushed out the door with insufficient testing, and that's really inexcusable.

Darkfall is a game... and we all know this and that is why many of us are emphatic about NOT spending money on it, because we have seen several times before companies like Aventurine take our money and fold.
