Will they? only time....and money will tell.

    I disagree.

I think people have overestimated Aventurine's infrastructure capabilities.  They've stated they're going for a staged release, which leads me to believe they knew the upper limits of their hardware and software systems.  The fact that they're struggling with limits they themselves imposed doesn't have as much to do with huge demand as it does with their own incompetence.

They decided what the demand would be by gating their release, and they still can't handle a number that they picked.  Lol.

Most of the people applying for this are your normal fly by nighters.  I was one in warhammer,  not one in aoc cause i played that for a while.

even if the launch went perfectly 70-80% probably would leave the game anyhow after the first months.  They would find they do not enjoy the griefing and the full loot.  People are treating this like the launch of a major MMO its not,  was never meant to be.  But a bunch of kiddies think its warhammer number 2 and mobbing it.

One of the reasons this is going badly is because this is a niche game but everyone thinks they are part of the niche and as only time will tell alot won't be.  I am not saying these people are not "HARDCORE" they will just not enjoy this type of game.  They may like the ability to face people in even fights,  they might want instant action, they may not like the 20-30 minute walks to kill something,  they may not like the mobs harder to kill AI,  they may want quests,  they may want better crafting.

If they really wanted this game to have mass appeal they could of done the following.  The the capital, starter cities, and surrounding areas and make them safe zones.  Keep the hard mobs,  but put in tons of rather well written quests.  Have some sort of controled pvp like open arena, racial faction (same race) combat,  and racial combat.  This would act like empire space in eve.  All the player controled cities however would be pull loot anf FFA.  This would be like eve online basically.

Thats fine from a players point of view and I agree hole heartly with what you said.

BUT, Aventurine is a business at the end of the day and has only one main goal in mind, and that is to make money, there not going to make it if they give off the appearance of being incompitant.

they should have allowed for the influx and then downgraded everything once the dust had settled and had "removed" all the dead wood...i.e Fly by night players.

I agree on the appearance thing.  But i do have to correct you and this common misconception that business is just for money nothing else.  I have known lots of people who open business do well enough to make a profit and live comfortably but do not focus on the single goal of money money money.  They actually enjoy what they do and make choices that cut their profit for the sake of the business,  like darkfall,  that they love.

Reading interviews with the devs and the investor jade mehdawi,  the darkfall people yes want to make money.  But they also want to do that well making a game they love.

Ok, I Admit i got it a little wong, this is what i meant:

Its Aventurine's business to make a good solid game true to the design and development plan fromthe beginning..BUT its the Investers business to make money and only that.

    Conflict much :)

This game could easily be fixed in a month or two but they are remaining stubbornly arrogant and so are the fanbois.

This is exactly the kind of thing that happened with Pre-Cu SWG, thousands got drawn to the game and I really mean literally thousands, I don't think I need to remind people here about the thousands of complaints about when the NGE came out.

This is far from a niche market and I absolutely hate that word, these are people who simply want a fun game, they are not grinders they are not macroers they are the people who make up the real numbers in a playerbase and get repeatedly stomped on by fanbois and developers everywhere when they want a quality game.

Once they find out that Aventurine hasn't fixed the swarm of problems with this game they will leave and there will only be a few elitists left just like with EVE Online.

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

I should not be knippicking points outside of what is nessasary for the conversation.  sorry for side tracking.

I will just say this in agreement,  if the investor wants to make money and love what he had the devs do,  they cannot have what is going on.  Incompetence is a bad thing even for people who love what they are doing.  You are correct.
