hardcore PvP in DF

First of all, this is not a rant but I'd rather like to share a funny story I enjoyed this morning

 

Since the servers are back up, the game really starts to shine, by the way. Sync is ok now and the client is very responsive and running just fine maxed out.

On the starter spawn, there is the typical pattern going on. Everybody runs all over, killing what is appearing. Whenever someone is accidentally going grey, you can be damn sure someone is taking the opportunity to make best use of it. - so far so good, that's fun in itself.

Now on that mahirim goblin spawn, you have a little group of 3 fairly well eqipped dogs coming up. Being used to the occasional little skirmish coming up, I decide to fight back right away; there were at least twice the number of my own kind on the spawn, so fair chances to make it.

Guess what comes next, - right so, I find myself alone in that fight, as EVERYBODY else decided to leg it and just ran off, the same people that until then used each and every opportunity to gank each other

There sure are loads of "hardcores" around I couldn't help bursting in laughter, seeing the pack disappear while I tried my best.
