Why should this matter if its an indie or a big company like Blizzard?

Let me use one of the famous analogies you fanbois love. If you go to a little Mom's and Pop's diner, and its worse than McD's do you still keep going back? They obviously don't have the resources that McD's does, so it won't be as good. Doesn't make sense, does it?

Let's drop the analogies then and talk about how games like Castle Crashers, Mount and blade or World of Goo didn't need ten thousand idiots shoving them into magical alternate dimensions where no other games are "allowed" to be compared to them.

They also got great reviews from the gaming press.

Adventurine's BS has nothing to do with the word "Indy"... Unless we're talking Derek Smart or Farlan or maybe the Gizmondo....... Are we?

    No this thread is.

Its depressing how ignorant the forum community is.

Not everyone reads forums some people buy mags alot do. Alot of people think WoW is the #1 mmorpg and it is. And theres nothing to debate.   Me personaly I cant stand it only played for a weeks maybe two then I couldnt even make myself play it to finish out the free 30 days. But my ego is balanced enough to know that its a personal taste. The majority of the market likes those types of games. Im a minority in this genre but my ego can except that. Others cant.

The majority have spoken and they like wow. Just liked they enjoyed EQ, which was my WoW back in the day (Alot of us declared it the downfall of this genre).

Theres nothing wrong with mag reviews there just as biased and pointless as forum blogs.  And yes a good amount of people read them both and consider them a tool in purchasing a game.

Why do you guys act like your opnions are facts, laws of the universe. There just ur opinion ur personal taste. To many of you think to much of urselfs.

any game magazine that rates a game on the launch, and the problems surrounding that has no credibility if you ask me.

assuming there was a launch on lauch day I could agree. Problems upon launch of a game are expected. Calling it launch, but not doing so because of problems they do not know about is diffrent.

I think the flaw in your argument is when you prove pc-zone can somehow hurt a games sales.

As for prediciting doom... the WoW launch had weeks of the game being unplayable, if they can clear this up in a week, they are leaps ahead of the WoW launch... the one that everyone though would cripple the game and it would never recouver for.

MMORPG.com has never been a friend to Darkfall.

The most they've done for the game is hyped it up.

There's too many people who inherently want Darkfall to fail and create threads like this.  The game won't founder, not yet leastways.  It'll depend on how the North American launch goes.

Therefore, I call this thread and ill-founded fear,  because it really is.  The only evidence you have to prove that Darkfall will fail is a supposed friend who's friends are making comments about Darkfall, people who will never be heard and nobody will really care about.  Until you see masses of people quitting Darkfall, I wouldn't be saying it's failing.

I'm not a fanboy, just optimistic.  I really want Darkfall to succeed.  I played it in Beta, and I have to say that the clan combat is going to be awesome.  The game will require strategy and tactics to win, and best of all you're free to do just about anything you want.  It has its shortcomings and limitations (ex.  Click-fest combat, some magic spells are pretty hairy, and the special attacks at the moment aren't worth buying), but in the coming months I think the developers will be able to iron most of these things out.

Just don't assume the game's going to fail, nothing's certain yet this early into release.

Every MMO gets positive or negative press coverage on release, and while most mags will not give a "final report" for some time, it is quite obvious that initial positive coverage helps and initial negative coverage hurts. A lot. DF's initial press coverage is almost guaranteed to be of the most horrible sort. Trends have been established in the industry and this is why so many players are willing to label this a fail after a week. Is it fair? Absolutely not. Is there some basis of history to it? Unfortunately, yes there is.
