does character size effect thier hit box?

if it does, it seems like dwarf would be by far the best way to roll...

i sure hope all hit boxxes are the same size for all characters....

does anyone know the accurate answer to this question?

Yes, character size does affect hit boxes. In terms of "volume", hit boxes go:

    Mahirim - Ork - Dwarf - Human - Mirdain - Alfar.

19/02/2009 @11pm - "Your Darkfall preorder was successful!"
26/02/2009 @11pm - "During the preorder of Darkfall, your credit card transacton failed."

    Ahh, classic Tasos!

Can anyone confirm this, and if this is indeed the correct order?

Also if this is the case wont most leet pvpers go alfar?

  • It is confirmed and it's something that's been debated a lot about (the unfair advantage of being a smaller race). I don't think they've detailed what solution they have yet.

I was under impression that Orcs would be the biggest...damn those dogs are huge then!

I've heard you can crouch past horizontal attacks.... is this true if its like a mahirim dodging a dwarf? I would think not.... and that kindof exaccerbates the issue of mahirim having large hitboxes (though keep in mind race balance isn't applied yet, and thus you will be CURRENTLY severly disadvantaged if you choose mahirim/ork but it won't be permanent, and you will be kicking yourself if you choose alfar and you actually wanted to play mahirim when 4 legged running comes in/when orks get special abilities/ etc.)

This is correct however some hit boxes are taller / shorter / wider / thinner  then others.

    Volume is the key word.

A Dwarf for example as a higher volume hitbox over an Alfar but has a shorter height hitbox profile then anyone.

Yes, hitboxes are different for all races, and it's causing whining.

"The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
On we sweep with threshing oar, our only goal will be the western shore."

The last statement of Tasos was that they've cut the hitboxes away for this moment

The only thing that hit boxes affect is archery, and good luck doging an arrow in the first place. All magic dmg (confirmed anyways) spells gain splash dmg, whose radius and dmg increases as the skill level increases making hit boxes a moot point.

    Can you link this please?

I`m forced to be human or Alfar like 90% of the server because of the stupid hitbox. And NO, there are no reason to be any other race. Please don`t bring up the stupid starterstats argument, because like UO they will sooner or later be the same for all races. Hitboxsize will follow you forever if they don`t change that.

    Wrong.

The first guy to post the order was correct.

Mahirim- Ork- Dwarf- Human- Mirdain- Alfar

A suggestion that I support is that since Mahirim and Ork have such huge hit boxes, they should also have a bit more range on their melee attacks.  Only makes sense.

I'm still most likely going to play mahirim for the 4lr advantage (when it's finally implemented).  Also, mahirim just look fucking intimidating.  We are huge, and we growl.

A bigger body makes a bigger target. Thats how it works. Ans attribute points does also change from race to race.

But dont powerplay a MMO as DF. Many orc players got angry when they become accused for having the lowest attribut points.....they couldent care less. They were proud orcs.

The hit box doesn';t matter since all spells have AoE spalsh dmg eventually.
