Yeah let me go out with almost no knowledge of the game and just waste 50+ bucks on a game.

Why even have these forums if everyone is going to make a  blind  purchase.

See dude this is the type of uninformative shit im talking about.

I don't know if your trying to be helpful, if so you pretty much failed.

And your spewing hate and filth.  Why don't you back it off a notch and maybe everyone won't be so hateful back.

Oh give me abreak, how many posts have there been in the last three days in the DF forums? 10k? maybe more? how many of these posts are one liners by fanbois/haters? how many of these posters were saying the same shit over and over and over?

Asking for information is not easy with the way the majority is posting here atm.

I m glad we have a handful of people in this forum that are actually willing to share knowledge of the game and give some straight up pros and cons and video/screeny links.

to those that are giving good information thank you, seriously.

To the rest of you keep the shit in all one thread.

I had the same problem regarding information dude. Was a nightmare trying to get beyond the Haters and Fanboi's.

But i was given 2 reviews. One was teh Paragus one which has been posted on tis thread already. I will say it's a well written review but (imo) doesn't give much information beyond what you may get in a manual. It tells you how to play the game but doesn't address any of the problems/good points which have been brought up by other people.

A much more complete review was one I was given

    www.gameolosophy.com/Games/Online/Darkfall-Online-Beta.541609/1

The one problem with this review though is it's beta so tere may be more stuff implemented since release.

The one thing which struck me from the review though was the quote at the end of which i have seen nothing written by anybody to say it's not true.

"At this point, I think it's fair to say that Darkfall is essentially Oblivion Online - minus the plot, gorgeous graphics, unique skills, engaging quests, fun stealth system, involved combat, Patrick Stewart voiceovers, and everything else that made it a hit.".

    Thanks T

Seriously, thank you for the solid information you have given.

Certain people  might think my OP was a bit assholish but i've become frustrated with the lack of substance on this particular forum. People looking for solid information have to wade through tons of shit just to get a idea if the game is worth trying or not.

Gameplay is slow. Very, very slow, so very slow.

All the skills take forever to increase, crafting takes 10 years, running out of stamina takes about 2 minutes than you have to sit for 10. A lot of sitting around. A lot of downtime.

Gold is difficult to obtain as most stuff sells for like 2-3g, and things cost a lot. 1k for 3rd newb slot, 500g for a skill, 20g for 10 arrows, etc.

Exploring is laughable, you run around in any given direction for about an hour, find nothing. Trees, bushes, rocks, occasional chest w/10 arrows in it. Oh wait, a monster camp ! But it's camped by a guild, moving on.

Go to far, mobs just rape ya. Don't go far enough, mobs are out camped 10 to 1, with a pretty slow re-spawn rate.

    "Oh noes, I nedz to get skillz, i l9ze st4m s0 fast! LOLROFL newbsuxgtfo, u cant f1nd nathn cuse u suxk11!"

    Anticipated responses ^^ Can't wait!

Solo play is out of the question past a certain point, or immediately if you try to run too far off, only 1 quest line thus far and it involves a lot of goblins. Than skellies, camped too btw. As far as originality, this game has none. Oblivion clone with slightly different melee, much more barren and not as good looking.

I am playing DF at present.

Reminds me of pre-split UO. Making money is tough in the starter zones as there are so many people there. But like UO there are no quests... what you do is up to you

Transport is slow... on foot only for me atm :)  I am hoping that it gets quicker. Dreams of gating and recalling a la UO.

If your not sure of the game wait and see, give it a few weeks or a month - launch has been dire but it's getting better and more stable (not quick enough for many which is easy to understand).

Information is sketchy for all atm :)

Well the servers were down for over 24 hours yesterday, so I dont think many people have had the chance to really play the game all that much.

I am willing to bet that by monday if they have everything smoothed out you will start to see a few vids and a few reviews as well. And by that time they may even have the order page up again.

Other than some guilds which (allegedly) already have their cities?

They actually increased xp rates on just about everything for the launch builds.  Many people playing launch are already in the 30s and 40s with Lesser Magic and Mana Missle (and I mean w/o macroing).  In beta, they would be in the teens right now.  Crafting is also easier to increase.

I don't know how you can say gold is hard to come by.  I was a solo pk and would usually rake in a over a thousand gold a day, dry looting players and selling the good weapons that I didn't need.  Also, killing oathbounds and using veilron keys is awesome money.

I really don't understand your comment about exploring.  I know the mahirim, dwarf, ork, and human lands fairly well now, and I have come across so many points of interest that I can't begin to list them all.  Of course, some of the dungeons I found werern't activated, and some of the bad ass looking fortresses I found were desolate... that needs to be fixed, definitely.

I do agree with you on the progession of difficulty with mobs.  It seriously seems like only 5-10% of the mobs in the game are soloable.  I think that number should be around 25% or so, to be more solo-friendly.

Also, about downtime- carry food.  You won't have to sit and rest after every few kills if you carry it.  Eat a pie before you start fighting and you'll have good regen throughout the fight and on top of that while your looting and such afterwards, you'll be getting resting quality regeneration rates.  Even if you are jogging, food will give you resting regen rates.  That said, I DO think they need to make food and resting regen STACK... that would make the system perfect.

I disagree, gold is not hard to get, work with a clan.

I agree, it is overwhelming at first if you are solo, I explored and found a mob spawn, they are hard and don't act in a dumb way either, just need to adapt to the standard mob AI in other games.

Stamina does not take 10mins to regen.

the second thing is a error report that come whit DFo install the bad thing is is one way report there is no way that dev can contact you for more details

is really retarded because you dont know if that issue was reported you get no ID to keep track  etc

i saw one gm in game but i cant PM him and i dont see any /report thing

If you want detailed reviews covering all game mechanics, I would say wait for a month or two. By then people will already have tried sieges, massive battles, naval combat (hopefully with big ships), I haven't played it but I hope two months is enough time for people and their clans to "get there". Also, the 2 months period is a good measure on how the developers are handling all possible problems, state of customer support, if they're keeping the playerbase informed and so on.

Good advice. Most of the reviews now are going to be from other noobs (no offense). Even if you played for a few weeks - you played in BETA which is far different from retail. Players play very differently once it hits retail, and typically much more hardcore. Once EVERYONE is skilled, then you will see far different mechanics then you see now.

Think of every past MMO youve played and how you felt at first. Then think of that same MMO 2 months later in to retail. Very different views.

1-2 months in you see all the good, and bad of a game typically. Realistically, no game is going to be perfect, and many people are going to leave at this point.

6 months - 1 year the game should hit its prime though, you can expect to see most of the problems that become apparent in the next 2 months to be fixed by then.

    Hello?

Darkfall is not a MMO ..!    All that RPG stuff is gone, not sure where you've been. 70% of the FAQ is not in the game.

Darkfallis is now only a FPS game.  Hello McFly..?
