Questions (bow related)
I tried Irth, yeah I know sucked balls but was a sandbox like no other at the time. DFO reminds me of the skill sink (in my eyes skill up is level up) but looks promising in regards to character development. In Irth here is what happened to me to give up on a bow class and basically give up on the game.
In Irth at beta the Dev's gave us all like 500 gold each to help us test. I bought a bow and 400 arrows for yeah 490 gold (90 gold for the bow and 400 gold for the arrows). The first wolf I met I blasted him for ~150 arrows and he dropped ... .drumroll.... NOTHING. Next wolf I took on was a little tougher and I used ALL my arrows but 3 and he drooped.. .drumroll.... NOTHING. After two kills I was running for my life cause I had NO way to defend myself. To make a long story short. I logged out and never logged back.
Do arrows in DF cost a lot?
Is a bow only class feasible?
Is bow use balance in regards to sword use?
Would I be better off using a sword all the time instead of a bow?
Pleas guys no flaming. OMG I asked for trolls.
I would like to see some serious discussion. Do remember I am actually a potential costumer here so if the answers seem reasonable I may try the game but do not lie cause I will rip it to pieces if I find otherwise.

Arrows cost. But its worth it. Bows are very powerful in DF. And there is no classes, so everyone can use it. But its manual aiming. Just like Mount&Blade.
I personally loot arrows from other players or from mobs, so i havent pays a cent for my arrows. Maybe you should become a crafter and make arrows to sell to other?
