FFS i want to play.......i want to play.......I WANT TO PLAY. Shouldnt of listened to all the trolls and took the risk. Id like to personally applaud them though they are good at what they do but im really pissed off at them at the same time. gg trolls.....gg
people shouldn't support pay-to-play betas. it sets an awful precedent and only means that more and more companies will release half-finished games...
but, you can't say that av is the first company to do this, they're just the latest.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
Ignore the bitchers, whiners, even the Snakes of Panaker. Darkfall has got 'it' right. The only MMO I have played since UO to have 'it'. Personally I think that 75% of 'it' is atmosphere. The other 25?, you tell me. Pray God this game doesn't go the way of the pear.
To be honest I think Darkfall has the worst group of retards in their community in the history of MMOs.
It's not Darkfall's fault though as a lot of the aspects of the game appeal to two groups:
#1. "Hardcore" PvPer's who want a FPS compeitive skill based MMO game - the Good part of the community
#2. 13-16 year old kids with massive amounts of teen agnst running around QQing, saying retarded nonsense on forums, in game global, and in private tells after they get rolled. - The bad part of the community.
Unfortunately it seems like #2 makes up for 75% of the community and #1 makes up for 25%
Now it would be OK if most of the comments were funny, creative, or witty but most of it is just /yawn emo dribble spewed out by mad little kids.
Hopefully with more players coming into the game the trend is somehow miraculously reversed but if not just prepare to put a lot of tards on ignore.
What happened to the RPers looking for a sandbox game? You know, the ones DF was originally created for.
Yet without RPers MMORPGs would have never existed, which would mean UO never would have happened and hence DFO would never have been thought of...
right lol and FPS would have never existed also
FPS is a totally different genre and the system of those games havent changed since their inception.
MMORPGs are based on the old PnP style RolePlaying system where people would "Role Play". Those gamers were the ones who helped create the MMORPG genre and if they never existed, the system wouldnt have and therefore the genre never would have.
nope that's a lie
Then kindly prove where and how it is, seeing as you have such insightful knowledge on the subject.
it's pretty obvious someone would have made a game where you could create a character and get him skills eventually
Aye, I think his name was Gary Gygax.
But again, without those such roleplayers from the late 70s to mid 90s MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) would never have existed. They created the foundations, the systems and the character structures used in games such as DFO. Without these people you might be waiting another 10 - 15 years for such a genre to appear if at all.
To say its obvious that someone would eventually have done something is equivelent to hindsight.
lol yea right someone would have played dungeon crawler or something and said hey! why can't i play this with other people
Just incase you could not comprehend the "/facepalm" The P&P Dungeons and Dragons RPG was the first "Comercialized" and highly popular DUNGEON CRAWLER. P&P = Pen and Paper
If it were not for roleplayers you might as well be given a sword and thrown into Agon. Oh, did I forget to mention that you wouldn't be able to change clothes, or get new weapons? Oh and also, everyone would look exactly the same.
As for us being the "joke of the human race"
I'd like to see you muster up the attention span to create your own progressional story line (comparable to writing a book) with your friends. Can't do it eh? What are you going to say now, books are the scum of the universe?
What happened to the RPers looking for a sandbox game? You know, the ones DF was originally created for.
They better make an rp server
I think a lot of us are waiting.
I have been growing impatiente waiting for release, as a lot of you, these last months as release was aproaching (reading forums, leaks, looking for vids etc...). Came Feb 26 and suddenly all the impatiente *poof* was gone, almost funny. Now I am just keeping an eye on it more skeptic than ever.
Right now Darkfall would fullfill my PvP needs but other than that, lacks in so many areas that I could hardly call it a Sandbox game. Great for people just interested on a swallow PvP game, bad for the rest of us looking for a deep PvP system or a game rich with other features.
kidding aside, I notice a lot of parallels between Darkfall and Chinese Democracy. Both took forever to come out, both actually *did* come out, and both were way too mediocre to take as long as it did.
Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man!
Yet without RPers MMORPGs would have never existed, which would mean UO never would have happened and hence DFO would never have been thought of...

How old are you boy? Where do you think dungeon crawler and RPG games are coming from?
Check this out, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons on the Intellivison console in 1982. It think this was one of the first video game RPG dungeon crawlers. I remember spending so many hours on this, this may look like crap today, but it was pure awesomeness for it's time. Awesome game.
www.youtube.com/watch And here once inside a Dungeon, the AD&D Treasure Of Tarmin with 3D in 1982, This was totally huge and immersive: www.youtube.com/watch So, and where do you think these 1982 games come from? The pen and paper games
Damn that was a stroll down memory lane.
Only one kid in my neighborhood was rich enough to have a computer, we'd all go to his house to play, a keyboard even was so foreign.
Indeed. I have had more fun the last 2 days playing DF than I have had on any other MMO.
Concur. The game has rapidly reverted back to how it was in beta and i'm having a great time. there's no question in my mind DF has enough of "it" to thrive, and if the level of responsiveness of the devs i've seen in beta and now in release, i have no doubt DF has a great future.
It's very obvious to me as a *player* that a lot of the negativity here is flat-out lies and trolling, as it does not correlate with the general vibe i can see & read in other actual DF players in game, nor with what i am experiencing while playing. and despite massive trolling here from people who've never ever played the game, there is massive demand for DF.
since virtually all of DF's PR has come from this trolling, i understand that DF essentially needs the clueless troll crowd to continue keeping DF in the limelight, doesn't stop it from being pretty amusing.
I haven't been able to sub to Darkfall yet, but I've been checking the site periodically to do so. Not so often that I feel I'm wasting too much time checking in, just when I have a moment or two.
If the trolls feel that they are effective in steering people away from the game, I'd say they have failed miserably. Hasn't dissuaded me from trying it, if anything they have kept me interested. So GG guys
I'll get the chance to try it soon enough. I'm too old to cry about not having it immediately. Av will figure out their problems, it seems they have been working through them and its clearly getting better as time goes on. UO is still the mmo I look back on as the best and recapturing that feeling is worth giving this game a fair try, I think. No reason to write it off due to nerd rage.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.

im sure in hell not part of them groups. umm i havent had to really put peole on ignore i woudl rather deal with the asses thata r eing ame than alot of the trolls and trolsl on the df forums just because at least the asses are trolling there just playing the way they want too

They had a great concept : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bYYT6Wg3Gg
They delivered a shell of it.
Let's hope their "updating the game once $ flow in" skills are better than their "release the game" skills.
I can only assume its a reference to something "going pear-shaped" as in a woman who starts out hot then gets fat and, therefore, pear-shaped.
I should be elite after this post.
I prefer to say 'it's all gone tits up' or 'it's all gone runny' personally...but I think you're right about the pear-shaped thing.
