Looking for an RTS i played a while ago

I played a Real time strategy 2-3 years ago (not the year the game came out mind you) that was alot like the game age of methology if anyones played that but the thing i really liked about it was the fact that you got a hero along all the fighting that ones you level him unuf you could take third person control ov.  Can anyone tell me of  a good RTS that has the ability to take control of one of the people in the battle 1rst or 3rd person or if not can soone maby tell me of the game im thinking of?

If it's singleplayer, then it's probably Spellforce, or Sacrifice (really old).

If it's MMO, I have not heard of such a game that allowed you to do that.
