There is a large number of player base that spends considerable sums of real money to buy in-game perks for these games, most of the time these players pay far more than they would if they were playing a monthly fee for a p2p game
I always have warrior package on my character ($39 every 90 days) and when I was leveling I always had a blessing potion up ($10 for 500 fights). I also bought things like Tesla boxes to get the new mounts and items...so yeah, I probably come out to around $30-40 a month. Fear my bunny suit and ears!
Given it's free to play - how are the devs making their money and profit? ads in game or something else?
yeah i want to know too, they say this is a free to play but im still inetersted how did the developers gain profit if this is a free to play aside from buying in item mall. im just curious heheh ^^
The game is largely unplayable after 60 or so without buying their cash shop crap. Then after you invest nto your characters a lot, they change the game around completely making you have to reinvest to get back to a good team of merc.
This aint the first thread about this that pops up on these forums.
Honestly its very simple, you dont even need to play the game just visit their websites. They sell a lot of items via cash shops, they are not necessary to play hte game, and can be bought in game using in game money.
Now spend 2 mins looking for an answer before you make a post, all F2P games use the same tactics to make money ( more or less).

Funnily ennough I did actually search this forum for "money", "profit" etc. and combinations - each one came up with too many posts or zero.
Read the website but without downloading the game and trying it I can't tell if there are ads in it. So I probably spent maybe 10 or 15 mins.
Thanks for all the answers everyone else
p.s. oh - and of course it's impossible to tell if the items to buy are essential or not - again the answers here are very helpful. Sorry if i offended anyone else with my question. I'll go and chastise myself throughly now.

Nah I didnt buy my first blessing potion until level 83.
but i think that is a good strategy. it is really nice of them to develop a free to play game and we have the free to choose if you want to invest a real money for your character.
You tottaly free to spend money or not... Spending money gives bit of advantage but time/ wise playing can compensate it... At least i play for 2nd month now, and only bough 1 30days package.. Now i am buying packages with ingame money, i always have blessing potions on, plenty of scrolls...
You don't need to spend any money. All items bought from the cash shop can be bought by ingame gold. However i'm still tempted to spend $15 a month on my warriors license since not a lot of reliable people sell gcoins.
For most F2P MMOs item malls will be essential especially at higher levels. Although for the moment, I think its different here in Atlantica since most of all those items for sale in the item mall can be attained by playing the game normally. This should be the case with item malls since it wont let us require to buy anything because its F2P to begin with.
But of course, those item mall items will cost a lot using in-game gold. For example, blessing pots cost about 5M each. That's good for 50 battles.
I'm guessing their main form of income comes from the gambling boxes. In order to get the super-cool mount of the moment, or accessory (just wings, I think).
Hard-core players drop $100 or more just to have a decent shot of getting those. And they seem to roll out a new mount every month.
Then they get people on the patrol and teleport licenses. Which not essential, are very helpful given some dungeons are huge, and many dungeon mobs have nasty mini-bosses hidden in them.
Also, what I paid for, are merc rooms. You start to get more characters than you have room for in the mid 50s, so you need to buy rooms for them. They are relatively cheap in game (35 million or so, I think) and you can earn a 7 day by just doing about two dozen FL battles, but it's often easier to just buy them.
I guess later on, people also buy blessing potions. I haven't felt the need to (I'm only 82 and made a level or so every day or two), but supposedly the grind gets much worse at 96...
Buying item will make your progression faster thats a given, but if you play the game a lot and know how to make money in the market ( items at a time of the day can sell for twice more that they did at another time) you can make billions without touching the cash shop. Especially if your in one of the top nations.
