I think Atlantica will be a good game when it finally goes live. It has all the tools to be a great game and more. It has a lot of potential and a lot of promise. I like the game because when fighting, an enemy or opposing player the player is required to use strategy, the player is required to think his way to victory. He or she has to think his way to the promise land and that my friends is much harder than you can ever imagine.

For too long many of the games that have been released to the public masses has been guilty of making us dumb and numbing our senses. Their cheap and childish tactics has made us stupid and the sad thing is we don’t even know it’s happening WHEN it’s happening.

How long will this go on? How much longer will we have to endure the constant pressing and mashing of buttons before we, as a collective conscience say “ENOUGH!!! ENOUGH!!!” Is the carrot on the stick that important to us that we subject ourselves to this mindless drubbing of our brains? Is the struggle to make it to the top worth the sweat and tears we put into such a mindless act? No, I don’t think it is.

I admit Atlantis is guilty of this tried and tested tactic, but at least they are making the concentrated effort to put more class and substance into the essence of the grind. When fighting to defeat an enemy or friend one has to think. The individual has to use strategy to continue to chase that carrot, or else the carrot will fall farther and farther away. Their brilliant turn-based system is a step in the right direction to liberating the minds and spirits of those who have been tormented and condition by the standard norm used by so many games whose only interest is the bottom line!!

Now a day’s most games do not challenge our youth. They cater to their needs and desires by showing them the carrot and instructing them to run. There is no puzzle to solve nor is there question for them to answer, all the player has to do is chase the carrot until the carrot can’t be chased no more. It is nothing more than a cake eating contest between men who are fat and I find this abuse and exploitation absolutely disgusting!!

I hope more games like Atlantica are created and released to the masses. Lord knows the MMORPG genre needs more games that encourage thought and passion. I guess only time will tell, only time will tell all…
