I came on the forum to check the game out because I'm looking for something new to try. I've read about it having launch problems and that it hasn’t really lived up to a lot of expectations. Now that in itself has maybe put me off buying (or attempting to buy the game) for the time being but I would have still been interested in playing the game in a month or two. That is until I came across the absolutely fanatical behaviour of several vocal fanbois who seem to have no problem promoting their beloved game using underhand tactics, wether it be making personal vendettas against people who criticise the game or making irrational excuses for problems the game has. Really if you want to help the game take a setup back and think if you trolling is really helping make your game a success. Maybe I will come back in 4 months or so and see if the zealots have gone and try the game then f it is all clear.

So basically your not going to try the game because some fanboys like it...so basically some random strangers loving the game on the internet affected your decision in real life to purchase the game?
Goodluck in life with that thin skin and the ability to be swayed so easy!
What's funny is that a few fanboys swayed you to not buy the game, and yet the countless more rampant trolls didn't bother you at all?
Hahaha..... sorry.... hahahahaha.
And, thus, both of you have proven his point...lol.
Who cares? He'll open up a spot for someone dying to get in right now.

lol...That's the best joke I've heard all day. Thank you for the laughter.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out ..................
You cannot critcize fanboys for defending a game which has been attacked from every direction for a couple of years.
Vaporware, scam, bunch of liars, graphics sux, game is not finished, and so on.
Truth is that although DF has few small problems none of the above is actually true, maybe you can say that Aventurine didn't keep all the promises, fair enough, but majority of the bullshit that trolls threw at the game were not justified, and all this stuff has been said to piss off the fanboys (Just check the number of the negative threaeds against the positives, in particular before the NDA was lifted).
So you didn't noticed the hundreds of trolls who make fun and bitch about everything that has to do with the game, even Greece....................those are not annoying?
No the Fanboys are the evil for wanting to defend their game.
Of course there are fanboys who go over the top and troll, but you cannot expect people to take shit and not retaliate.
Don't blame the Fanboys though, for being defensive.
There is only one thing everyone agrees with, the release was complete shit, Fanboys are aware of this as much as the haters, but for the rest DF is what the fanboys wanted and even if they have to wait, it will probably be well worth it.
So even the failed release is not a big issue, after all Aventurine is an indie and it is already an achievment that they made a decent and playable game at release.
Even more established developers failed to do so, therefore I don't believe it is fair to criticise AV more than those devs, because their infrastructure is not able to support many players at the moment.
But you are of course free to do criticize, like the fanboys are free to defend it.
LOL.. fanbois are a very good reason not to buy the game, they are absolutely crazy and they are maybe 85% of the players. Really.. I don't feel like being part of that comunity. And yes I will let the door hit me!
people keep saying this bullshit. yet I have yet to really see these fanatic fanboys you talk about.
All I see are hate filled trolls. everywhere. and one or 2 guys defending the game.

shhhh Common sense doesn't bode well on these forums. If they've ever been in game, they'd realize that the players are quite mature. You don't see "pew pew I pwned you n00b" in any chat, and even racial alliance chat (the most widespread chat channel) is filled with helpful information of people asking questions and getting them answered, of players calling for aid because a non-allianced guild or group is attacking a location, etc.
But again, whatever they tell themselves.

Same, I used to be pretty moderate but I'm starting to side with the fans now. My inclination is to side with the group that seems more mature, and the trolls certainly don't seem to fit that description when they jump from thread to thread with childish rants like altairz. How many times have these guys spammed and derailed threads with their behavior? Too many to count.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.

You've obviously missed the countless threads and posts, both on here and in the Darkfall official forums, of people DYING to get into the game, and pissed that more orders haven't been coming out.
There are 50+ people just in my guild waiting on pre-orders.

There is like 2 games I swear... the one I am playing and the one that people talke about on this forum.

Of the 150 people that have signed up on our forums only 32 got into game. we have recuited a few in game and raised our numbers to about 75 now.

Hahaha, my sentiments exactly. It's only a matter of time before more people get in, and then they'll have tons of "rampant fanboy" threads to troll. Christ, I don't know when they're going to find the time to sleep or eat!

Can someone else close the door, I've got a bad back so didn't want it to hit me on the way out.
The servers are under very light load, on purpose. The release is being "throttled".
The place where the fanatics ought to reign in their blind optimism is on their clan forums. If they minimize their clanmates irritation - well, hey - its on them.
But folks would be wise to acknowledge the shortcomings without excuses and painting it pretty there. Especially the ones in the game preaching to the ones not.

Maybe you should take a good look at the official forums lol. I cannot belief how blind you are by saying you haven't seen any fanatic fanboi yet. I really urge you to make a urgent appointment with an eye specialist.
Reality is:
1. Trolls cannot run a game into the ground. Ever! Simply, because if a game is good, the people will ignore the trolls and continue playing. WoW being a fine and prime example in that.
2. Fanbois can, and have done so, run a game into the ground. Simply, because if a game has serious and plenty of issues at launch and the months after. The few people that actually try the game and willing to be put up with the issues. Will get fed and drop the game, when they realise that most people they reside with are religous fanbois who are trolling the critics as liars and keep spamming everywhere that nothig is wrong with their precious game.
So the OP has a valid and truthful point.

You fail to miss that most people, even most people of the 80+ of my guild that are in game, agree that there are problems that need to be addressed, and parts of the game that need to be improved.
However, even though we know of all of these problems (and I'll let you in on a little secret), we're still having more fun playing it than any other MMO on the market.
Now, tell me why that is. Is it because we're dilusional fanboys? Or is because, despite Darkfall's flaws and despite the things that need to be improved and tweaked upon, it's still leaps and bounds more fun then any MMO on the market in many of our opinions?
I'll give you hint, it's the latter.
There is truth to this - I have seen it in several games.
Especially Vanguard. That game attracted so many Brad McQuaid partisans who had such blind faith in the man that nothing he could do was wrong, everything was a clever plan.
And so folks set their guildmates expectations unrealistically.
In lots of cases the first people to throw up their hands a couple months later were the Brad partisans, and left a bunch of their mates hanging. Saw that happen in a bunch of guilds.
Which not just disaffected their guildmates with the game, but with those asshats who saw it as their mission to deny any problems, to minimize any inconvenience suffered by both themselves and their friends, and to generally act as volunteer "defenders of the faith".
There is nothing wrong with being realistic. With being honest. With setting expectations realistically.
Between irrational troll and keepers of the faith are the normal, call it like it is people.
If you ever come to think of your view of the game as a "cause", please piss off.

once again.
I have seen a few but nowhere near the amount of hatefilled trolls there are, even on the official forum.
Which brings up another point. do you really expect there to not be Fans on the OFFICIAL forum for a game?
Of course there will be fanatics (fans).
There are also hundreds of kiddos there as well, if you hadn't noticed.

Play the game for a full month first. Let's see if your guild still has 80+ members happily playing saying the same.
I had 60+ member guild in AoC. After the first month only 3-4 (incl. me) were left.
I had 60+ member guild in WAR. After the first month more then half were gone. Half January this year I was left with my 2 loyal officers and we decided to throw the towel in the ring too and left.

Morale of this story? Everyone says the game rocks in the first week after launch. It's what we call the Honymoon period when you start playing a new MMO.
Now here comes the clue and now pay attention you hear:
What it comes down to... is how long does this Honymoon period last? How much substance does the game have to keep you playing and having fun for the long run.
How polished is the game to not getting you fed up due to running into bug and glitch day in day out. (aka Vanguard).
--------------
When it comes to religous fanbois. I have seen these guys going so far and to such extreme lengths on forums that they even convinced the devs themselves that everything seemed to be fine and dandy. That's the final nail on the coffin for a game.
EDIT: @Jonyak: There is a difference between a honest fan and a religous fanatic (aka fanboi).
I will let you in on a little secret too.

I thought both the first week of AoC and WAR sucked. Guess your point is flawed. Every time I log onto Darkfall, I have this excitement I haven't had in years. I can sit there for 10 hours straight and not get bored an instant. Couldn't stand playing more then 3-4 hours a DAY in AoC, let alone in WAR.
Sandbox MMOs give you that freedom to do what you want, to have very few rulesets. Themepark MMOs force you to go specific paths. That is why I will not get bored of Darkfall anytime soon, and that is why everyone I talk to in game is unbelievably addicted.

This is the truth. More detailed then i felt like typing but how I feel. I too in beta thought wow i love this game in the first 2 weeks. It slowly started to fade. After a month the members of a guild I was in, well the ones that got in beta, all decided against the game. 2 reasons why. It became the same thing everyday, and not one of us in our guild has time to watch a city 24/7, when we would have one. A game is meant to be fun not a job. The latter will become one.
Who cares? He'll open up a spot for someone dying to get in right now.
no he won't, not until the paid closed beta ends.
paid - bought the game and will end up paying a monthly sub (two forms of pay there)
closed - a very few are allowed to pay to play the game, even when sales open again, they're still talking about a very small number (not just mmo sales, but any game sales total)
beta - they're fixing things real fast, lots of patches, issues get reported and are worked on nonstop by devs -- beta
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
