State of the game? For Possible Comeback

currently they have like less than 100k subscribers now so ive read. i had it for a few months since launch..had a lvl 80 duel wield spec barbarian. with i think i had 3-4 raid armor from tier 1 raids. but other than raiding there was no point in logging onto game on non raid days...there wasnt anything to do, pvp sieges were messed up, pvp minigames you'd wait for hrs to get a game in or couldnt even get mini game the whole day rather. a game with so much potential and beautiful graphics, so sad that it sort of failed. will game bet shutdown? Funcom promised so many things for launch and they didnt deliver. im more into pve endgame and there wasnt much of it
anyway..i was on Thog Server. In a guild called IronClads. My question to you guys if i do come back at any given time, which server is the most populated? From what it looks like Thog merged into Wiccana...or is Set more populated and go there? but then id have to pay for the transfer. And how is the game nowadays? any info will be greatly appreciated to help me decide to come back soon or keep waiting for even more improvements.

The Fans ... Everything is fixed i have no problems, the new Director solved everything, the unsolved things are coming in patch X very soon.
The Critics ... Still lacking content, still lag and bug issues, the company is diverting most its's resources to launch another MMO having given up on AoC.
The real answer ... no one knows, but their is supposedly a 'Win Back' free trial for former account holders sometime in the future when FC thinks the game will hold the interest of the folks who left.
Maybe wait till than?

thanks for the reply's so far and will check /read that thread a little later Deadman. yea i mean dont get me wrong in the months since launch i was in game..it was a lot of fun from lvl 1 to 80. i liked it a hella lot more than WoW...WoW i have to say i have quit it about 5 times in the past few yrs, lol...anyway, but once i got 80 is when myself and my guild thought to ourselves ok what should we do now that we downed vistrix, yak, kyllikki. whatever day we did those raids or we did 2 on 1 given night when we had the chance. most of the days it resulted in people just loggn off till the next scheduled raid. on those non-raid days i have to say it was only myself online and tops 4 other people with me if that. then within a few weeks we saw our guild falling apart due to no other endgame content..which led to people leaving the game for others.
i handled part of recruiting members but even recruitment to our guild in the last week or 2 obefore i left game was hard for me...very rare i was able to find someone that wanted to join us. i just wish in my opinion that Funcom should of kept beta testing for a little longer..and possibly delay game till about now or even till sometime in the summer of this year for an actual launch. And i havent heard of anything like that Unfinished. That would be great though if Funcom did give former subscribers another free month or something to come back and try out the game again.
You should definitely wait for trials.
Why risk it now when trials could come tomorrow and you get a chance to play with tons of people for FREE?

Wiccana and Set are both very decent servers and populations are about the same on each. Wiccana has a vibrant and active Siege community. The whole GUi changed for mini games so you can keep better track and search + see now.
It depends, the game right now is in MUCH better shape than 3-4 months after launch, people's feedback on forums (trying to avoid the extreme positive and negative) is very good, i'd read both this forums and also those in the official page. Most of the main concerns about stability, optimization and content have been addressed, combat and classes have been tweaked, but there is still lot of room for improvement.
I would most likely say that the best moment to resub/ launch a trial/win back campaign would be after next big patch (and apparently that's been hinted at) that introduces changes to the RPG system (stat budgets, items), itemization (another of the common complaints) and a big revaluation of classes and balance (due to the nature of the changes).
It's quite fun right now, in my opinion and in the general opinion of most forum users, but the reality of how it would be for you is much more subjective, 15$ to try right now is like a trip to the movies, but for some it migth be too much to "risk"
I would recommend the game as of now, both based in my experience and on what i've read in forums, but that's just my opinion.
thank you to everyone that replied. my decision i think still stands..might wait a month or 2 or so to see what else gets added. i really liked this game a lot. liked it a lot more than WoW. possibly ill wait till more things get implemented in the game and see if the free trial thing is actually real as well for former account holders. im always looking through the forums in the main AoC website forums for details. saying that i have a question now on why Funcom does this....id like to ask questions in their forums as well but for some reason it wont let me. does funcom disable forum rights to post or reply to forum threads if your not an active account? i think thats stupid
Yeah, FunCom has a tendency to piss off it's customers, and they don't want the people reading their forums to hear about it . So you have to pay to post. Can't use the search functions either wich is just plain st00pid.
DDO, LOTRO and CoX also make you have an active subscription to post. Which I think is a good idea. Wish there was a way on these forums to verify posters are subscribed to certain games. I think it would call out a lot of these negative posters who claim they have active subs.

anyone one here on the Wiccana Server? how is the population there now with the merges since my server Thog merged onto there and how are the queues i guess you can say for pvp minigames? is there a long wait to actually get a game on?
also if anyone can name me a few things that were implemented in the game since launch. maybe things for pve endgame? or if anyone has a site or thread and labels everything that was added for lvl 80 players.

You usually have to wait a long time to get a pvp minigame going because most players prefer open world pvp and getting full teams can be difficult. Outside peak hours it's nearly impossible.
What I do is start recruiting players myself from my friends list and public chat. It's a really painful process but sometimes it works.
I play on Set, and the pop is pretty decent. Although the PVP minigames are still a bit low in pop. (same as post above me)
Anyway OP, the recent patches really did fix a lot of issues I had with the game. Definitely worth a second look.
And I think I still have a buddy key left if you feel like checking the game out. Well, that is if my GF didn't use it yet. Don't see why she would as she plays on my account... Getting away from the point here...

Well i definitely recommend you to give AOC another try and see for yourself if you like it or not .
And yes, the game is much better now

They've cleared up some of the raid bosses. OPened up wing 3. Also added a lvl 80 dungeon that has different bosses that may or may not spawn depending on your actions. Non combat pets drop in that dungeon. Several other things that I can't remember.
The game is better than its ever been, and is getting better (after they hotfix the new bugs they patch in

cause unless you have been in a cave with no network, you should notice at least a couple of changes in AoC
thanks to everyone with your reply's. i have been reading through these forums and AoC's forums and a lot of people seem to be happy with the game now. some new people are showing up on the servers or some are making a comeback. one of my friends got it yesterday...and i have a feeling im going to get AoC soon as well...i loved AoC back when i was still playing. I liked it a lot more than WoW...WoW i get bored of it really soon each time i went back...i have quit WoW i thinkk about 6 times already in the years i played it, lol
