I still read the original features of this game and think "WOW! I can't believe how perfect this MMO is going to be." A real FFA PVP where the players themselves actually make there own quests. I played Shadowbane for years and loved the fact that there was no quests, you could log on and progress in the game anyway you wanted based on the options provided. There was however not much accountablity in shadowbane, because you could so easily log on an alt whenever you assjammed someone. In the end... that fact really destroyed SB for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but based on the posts from many it sounds like there's not to many ppl actually playing this game. So how come there is so much goddamn hate posts? I'm so sick of reading negative posts about this game from ppl who haven't even played. I mean what is the motivation?

I would have to say on the other hand, from what I get from the fans, it kind of sounds to me like there isn't much to do besides PVP. I'm really not into pk to just grief. I mean if I wanted to play the roll of a pirate and really live my life on the run, I'm totally down for that, but as in real life that wasn't an easy living, thus it shouldn't be in this game. I read posts here quite often where the poster will say something like "This game is so exciting! I camped out there starting area looking for noobs to kill. I just love the rush." I really haven't read many other post where ppl actually talk about anything else that this game is suppose to offer. That being crafting, player economy, city building and conquest.

I'm gonna try this game when it's available. Is there actually any players out there that are trying to collectively build a legion of respectable players where the objective is to destroy players that have no other motivation other than pking players of lower skill for the sake of a rush? Where is the dignity in that?

Kinda sounds like there's alot of immature players out there, someone plz tell me Darkfall has a way for the other players to hold them accountable for there actions.

There are many other things to do besides PvP. We were going to PvP but we spend a lot of time on PvE, crafting or gathering. If you have a city there is a lot more to do: politics, sieging etc (it's almost non existent in 6 days old game)

There are many SB guild around who really enjoy it. If you have some questions just ask.

I think the OP is touching on one of the key gameplay elements that most people just don't seem to grasp.  The game isn't about meaningless PvP (though if you hang out in the newbie starting areas long enough you might think it was).

What the game is really about is kingdom and empire building.  The PvP with full loot is designed to allow players to make a meaningful effort at controlling resources and land.  Unfortunately it remains to be seen if Darkfall found a successful formula for this type of game play as there aren't yet crafters or gatherers who have been able to take advantage of higher end resources.

The final verdict on this game will have to come months after release, when we discover what large, organized groups of players have managed to do with the system.

That being said, I personally loved hunting PKers in Beta.  It was quite a thrill to track down groups of raiders and skirmish with them for the length of their retreat.  Casualties were usually minor on both sides, but we got enough loot off of them to make it profitable (It seems every guy we did end up killing had enough equipment looted from others to outfit a small army).  I found the combat system very fun as well...  Some people don't like it very much but I find the first person / tight third person perspectives to be really immersive and intense.

My suggestion is to wait a few weeks, maybe even a few months, and then give it a try.  By then they'll hopefully have ironed out the nightmare that is their billing system (They've sold out in thirty minutes two days in a row now and the page crashes from the unbelievable load), and the political and economic landscape of the server will have been built up to a workable level.

Kill and loot.....OK that's fair, but what I want is for players who chose to perform evil actions, to actually play their roll as an evil player, not just say "oh jeez... I've got 26 positive points to burn up before I go rouge, that means I can kill some newbs of the same race and still be a functioning member of a good society."

In the end... who knows maybe I'll play the roll of an evil character, but I then want the excitement of livng as a criminal on the run. Maybe even find some other players who want to join me in my evil doings. There is honor among thieves.

Unless you have full positive faction (100 points or so) it will take 2-3 kills for you to go red,  but going gray is just as bad. Once you are red, its a steep and hard climb because defending yourself will give you more neg points. Being red limits you access to banks ect.

As others have mentioned, its the political meta game that intriques many here.

Then are many of the posts I read about players hunting other players, not in the same faction?

Back in beta, most of the PvP I saw was faction vs. faction...  except for the last day...  then it seemed like everyone decided to go red.  In fact, I can only think of four occasions (not counting the last day) where I was involved in a same faction battle.

There were a lot of guild on guild battles within the same faction, but those were generally in declared guild wars.

Guild wars can be inside the same race as well and then you don't lose faction when killing anyone in that guild which you are in war with.

Most people who have been playing have gained a lot of alignment and can afford to gank own race or allied races, this is usually done only to the unguilded ones.
