Even Blizzard defines their product as a theme park and not a virtual world.

Warcry scoops MMORPG.com on noteworthy news yet again.

See you in Darkfall if you want real PvP in a virtual world.

You have your 1990's looking grifer/ganker/exploit fest and the WoW players have their Shallow/theme park/easy mode game.  What's the problem?  Ohhhhh, thats it.  You think your better then WoW players because you are "hardcore".

    -Currently looking forward to FFXIV

-Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda

I doubt he's hardcore, it seems more likely that he is just an idiot.

Bam. I could not agree more with you. Blizz has, IMO, always been up front about everything... unlike other game companies.

Maybe I missed something in that news story, but where exactly does Blizzard admit that WoW is a theme park and not a virtual world?  All I see there is a contest to design a theme park incorporating ALL OF THEIR GAMES. That would include WoW (MMORPG) Diablo (Action RPG) and Starcraft (RTS) .  Now I know 2 out of those 3 are definately not virtual worlds.   Not trying to say WoW is complex at all but this story hardly admits what you claim.

if you read this -- its envelopes ALL blizzard games

    StarCraft, Warcraft, and Diablo

sounds like a fun contest, no need to twist it to your own agenda to bash WOW

I just looked at the site, looking for this 'admission'. Blizzard 'admitted' nothing, you just made a bad inference based on your own self-serving pre-concieved notions.

In case there were too many poly-syllabic words there: STFU TROLL.

Since when have they pretended to be any different? They have made it quite clear that their game is aimed squarely at the casual market.

It's the 'hardcore' crowd that try and make out WoW to be inferior because they compare it to games that are for an entirely different market. They don't want WoW numbers, or WoW players ... so what's the problem?

I don't think much of WoW myself, but the OP is obviously a troll.  Nothing in that article makes any mention of WoW -- just Blizzard's single-player games.

Also that thing about Darkfall, and that oversized signature... With all the documented problems there (latest slap-your-forehead moment: Aventurine's account creation form requests credit card names to be shorter than 15 characters), I don't think anyone would want to pick up that game right now.  As a matter of fact, they couldn't, because the sole server is full and Aventurine isn't accepting new orders at this time.

So, OP, you're just trolling for a game none of these people would play, or indeed could play right now.  If you want to discuss the shortcomings of WoW, by all means do (more work for Zorn is always good), but if you're just promoting Darkfall, why don't you go back from whence you came?

DF fanboys are getting desperate, that's what this is about, really. Just have a look around these forums. They come to other games' forum sections, desperately trying to tell us how bad the other games are.

OP, DF is a failure, imo. Attacking WoW for being shallow, while defending the most shallow game in years (yes, DF) - I find that hillarious. Add the worst release ever, and I doubt many WoW fans will leave their game to support that piece of crap.

DF isn't "real pvp" or "hardcore". It's all about exploiting and ganking. No wonder why the DF community has such a horrible reputation already.

The term "theme park" is not discribing content  or depth of their virtual world.  It does rather a reference to the EULA, more specifically that your are a guest in their world, much as you would be a guest at a theme park.  You may use the rides as much as you like since you bought an all day pass.  But you don't own the rides, can't modify them or take them with you.   You should not be sharing your "all day pass or account" in this case with others since the "ticket" would only allow one person in the "theme park".

Now this being said, I too find the content rather shallow in the game but against the other 300 or so peices of crap on the market its not a bad alternative....

Personally I am looking forward to DCU, STO and SWTOR....just maybe they will give me that feeling when I first played EQ back in 1999.

Ah EQ in 1999...that feeling is just an annoying twitch in your neck that you are wasting your time accomplishing nothing waiting for your turn at a spawned mob.

    lol Darkfall...

    more like Darkfail...

If you want hardcore, play QuakeLive or even Quake 3. Something that exclusively requires tactics and skills... You just look like a little ganker atm... nothing too impressive here.

Or who knows, maybe he's here because they're running out of victims they can tell to go back to WoW?

In which case his presence here makes a lot more sense.
